1958 Obit
Sherman Carr, 92, a native of the Mt. Vernon community and member of a pioneer local
family, died Wednesday in East St. Louis, IL, where he had resided for 65 years.
He was a retired employee of the Wabash Railroad there, having
been employed by the railroad for 45 years.
Following a funeral service in East St. Louis today, the body will be brought to Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, arriving early Saturday. It may be
viewed by friends in Weisinger chapel Saturday
morning.
At 10 am
Saturday, Rev. J. Kenneth Forbes, minister of First Methodist Church, will conduct a brief service at the
chapel followed by graveside rites in Bellefountaine
cemetery.
The deceased's wife nee Wilhelmina Large of Mt. Vernon, died in East St. Louis in 1937 and is buried in Bellefontaine
cemetery here.
A son, H.W. (Beuford) Carr, Des Moines, IA, is the nearest surviving relative, Mrs.
Mary Carr Finn, Mt. Vernon, is a niece.
Mr. Carr was a member of the Methodist Church and Independent Order of Odd Fellows in East St. Louis.
