Funeral services will be conducted Saturday for John H Broadhead, progressive successful Posey county farmer, who
died at 11 a.m. Thursday (23 Jun 1955) at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville after illness of a year of a coronary
condition. He would have been 51 years old on the coming July 25.
Born west of Mt. Vernon, a son of Charles Broadhead
and Minnie Finn Broadhead, the late deceased farmed
in Black township until nine years ago when he began the successful management
of the Spencer farm on Rural Route 2, Poseyville.
The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral
Home in Mt. Vernon where friends are invited to call.
Rev. James Heady, minister of the Poseyville Methodist Church will conduct the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Short-Niehaus chapel. Burial will be in Bellefontaine
cemetery. The deceased was a member of Welborn Methodist Church northwest of Mt. Vernon, of the North Mt. Vernon Methodist
Parish.
Mr. Broadhead married Clarice Scheller; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph V. Scheller, Mt. Vernon, 23 years ago. She survives
together with a brother, Walter Broadhead, R. R. 4, Mt. Vernon and a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Higgins. Mt. Vernon.
The deceased had achieved a reputation for progressive farming
practices, industry and integrity.
The coronary condition of a year's duration had slackened his
activity but he continued to engage in and direct operation of the well-known
Spencer farm near Poseyville.
His condition had been serious for the last month.
