NEW HARMONY - Helen Anna Blackburn, 85, of Indianapolis, a former resident of New Harmony, Ind., died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, November 20,
2006, at St.
Vincent Hospice.
She was a resident of Westside Retirement Village.
Helen was born in New Harmony, Ind., on February 3, 1921, she was the daughter of Ezra T. Shephard
and Anna Huck Shephard. She was a graduate of New Harmony High School. She later resided in Mount Vernon, Ind., where she raised her family and was a
devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Ramona Henderson of Columbus, Ind.; a son, Ronald Blackburn of Indianapolis; a brother, Perry Shephard
and his wife, Doris, of La Mesa, Calif.; a granddaughter, Ali Lewis and her
husband, Tom, of Indianapolis; and a grandson, Thomas J. Henderson of Irvine, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers,
Nicholas Shephard and Ivan Shephard.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 25,
2006, at Werry Funeral Home in New Harmony, Ind. Preceding the ceremony will be a
visitation from noon to 2 p.m. (Burial was in Maple
Hill
Cemetery
in New Harmony,
Indiana.)
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the
funeral home to the Riley Children's Foundation diabetes research unit.
