JOHN H BIXLER, POSEY MORTICIAN, IS DEAD
John H. Bixler, member of the Bixler and Werry Funeral Home, of
Cynthiana, died soon after
He was a charter member of the Cynthiana Christian Church and had
attended Sunday School and Church Sunday. After
retiring Sunday night he seemed to have sort of sinking spell and physician was
called and was attending him when death came, about
Mr. Bixler has been connected with
Cynthiana business circles for many years moving from his farm to Cynthiana not
too many years after the turn of the century and was in the hardware and
undertaking business with the late Cecil McReynolds, and Perry Pritchett.
Then later with the late Henry Ritzel in the
undertaking business and of recent years associated with Chester Werry, of Poseyville, and
together they remodeled and refurnished the present funeral home in Cynthiana.
He still retained his farming interests. For many years he
had been a director and president of the Cynthiana Mutual Perpetual Building
& Loan Association. He was always active in civic affairs and took a
lively interest in Cynthiana, New Liberty and communities. He is
the last of a family of several children of the late Rudy Bixler
and wife.
Funeral services were conducted at the Cynthiana Christian Church
Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock being in charge of the local pastor, Rev. L.
E. Schmittler and a former pastor, Rev. Orville
Woody, now pastor of the Christian Church at Sulphur
Springs, Ind. Interment was made in the

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Chlotiel
Massey and a grand daughter, Mrs. Carol Jean Williams, both of Cynthiana.
