THOMAS BELOAT, 91, FORMER COUNTY SHERIFF, DIES

Thomas Beloat, 91, former Gibson County sheriff and game warden died at his home, 504 East Water street, Saturday, night at 8:50 o'clock following an illness of one week.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Colvin & Son chapel, with Rev. L. A. Harriman, officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Moriah cemetery, west of Ft. Branch.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Grace Frenette and Mrs. Freda Herrmann at home and Mrs. Edith Duncan, Los Angeles, Calif; one granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Igou, Huntington, West Virginia and one great grandson, Thomas Igou.  The wife Mary Trible Beloat passed away in 1938.

Mr. Beloat was born February 6, 1855 near Ft. Branch and resided in Princeton the past fifty years.  He served as sheriff from 1900 to 1904, being elected on the republican ticket.  He served as game warden for 15 years beginning in 1920.

Mr. Beloat was a member of the First Presbyterian church, a charter member of the Elks, a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodges.

The body will be at the Colvin and Son Mortuary where friends may call Monday afternoon and evening.
