MARY RICHTER BEHRICK

Mrs. Mary Richter Behrick, 78, widow of Charles Behrick and a highly respected resident of Mt. Vernon most of her life, died Friday (29 Jan 1954) afternoon in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, an hour and a half after she entered the hospital for treatment of a chronic coronary condition.

 

Mr. Behrick, the husband, a well-known Mt. Vernon carpenter, died 26 years ago after being injured while at work.

 

The late deceased resided with her brother, John Richter, 918 W. Fourth street, in recent years.  A son, Ervin, construction foreman of Traylor Brothers, Inc. Evansville construction firm, resides nearby.

 

The body is at the Weisinger Funeral Home where friends are invited to call, beginning at 7 o'clock this evening.

 

The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church with Rev. August E. Binder, pastor, in charge.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.

 

Surviving, in addition to the son, are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; the brother, John Richter, and three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Rohry, Evansville and Mrs. Elizabeth Lengelson and Mrs. Katherine Ziegler, Mt. Vernon, a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Behrick Bivin, wife of Burgess Bivin, was killed in an auto wreck near Owensboro, Ky in 1951.

 

Mrs. Behrick was a native of Germany and came to America with her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Richter, at the age of 7 years.

 

She was a devout member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church and of the Ladies Aid Society of the Church.
