ROBERT EUGENE BARRETT

Robert Eugene Barrett, age 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Barrett, living five miles southwest of Princeton, died at the Methodist hospital Monday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock following an illness of nine days.  Death resulted from tetanus which developed from a hand injury suffered while operating a combine machine.

Graduated from the Princeton high school in the 1940 class, the youth assisted his father with farming and was an active member in the Gibson county 4-H club organization, being a Junior leader of the Kings Boys' 4-H club and a member of the Junior Leaders' organization of the county.

Born in Cory, Ind., Jun 17, 1912, Barrett had resided in Gibson county for the past 16 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist church of this city.

Other survivors are two brothers, John and Milton Barrett, both at home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the First Baptist church conducted by the Rev. Ford Porter of Indianapolis, former pastor of the local First Baptist church and the Rev. J. L. Magness, pastor of the Church of God.  Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery near Riley., Ind.

The remains have been removed from the Colvin & Son Funeral home to the parents' home to remain until the funeral.
