A native and lifelong resident of Robb township,
Samuel Newton Baker, 89, succumbed at

Cox Baker. Mr.
Baker was born on a farm west of Stewartsville, in the days of threshing rigs,
he operated a steam engine. For 17 years before the school burned he was

He and his wife, the former Pearl Butler, marked their sixty wedding
anniversary on November 11.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Werry chapel with the Rev. Donald Goben,
pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in
Surviving are the wife of Owensville Convalescent Center; two
daughters, Mrs. Martha Krietenstein of Poseyville and Mrs. Ruth Fairweather
of Van Nuys, Calif; six sons, Robert Dale of King
City, Mo; Ralph of St. Louis, Mo; Morris of Glendale, Ariz;
John of Hollywood Calif; and Jack and Harold both of
Van Nuys; a sister Mrs. Kate Sisk of Stewartsville; 17 grandchildren; 21 great
grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
