CLIFFORD BAILEY, FRANCISCO, VICTIM OF ACCIDENT AT FRANCISCO MINE NO 1 THIS MORNING - SON KILLED IN EXPLOSION OF 1926.
Clifford Robert Bailey, 45, miner employed at Francisco Mine No 1, died at 10:30 o'clock this morning shortly after a mine accident.  A rock weighing about 300 pounds fell from the ceiling of the room in which Bailey and Tippie Shaw of Oakland City were working, striking Bailey on the head.

Bailey's skull was crushed, his neck broken.  He was rushed in an ambulance to this city but died as he reached the Methodist hospital before he could be taken into the institution.

Shaw said he was on one side of a mine car, Bailey on the other.  A piece of the roof, possibly loosened by water, fell.  It struck Bailey but Shaw was uninjured.

Bailey a well known resident of Francisco was held in high esteem by all who knew him.  He is survived by the wife, and by the following children; Oscar, Ivan, Leonard, Beulah, Arnold, Ancil and Carl.  The father of the decedent, Robert Bailey, lives at Rockport.  Leonard Bailey, a brother; Lester and Aneil, half-brothers, and Myrtle and Goldie, half sisters, all live in the vicinity of Francisco.

The room in which the accident occurred is in the first and second west south entries.

The body accompanied by Shaw and Cecil Bailey, of Oakland City, a nephew of the decedent, was taken to the Pfohl Funeral home.
