CENTER NATIVE SUCCUMBS AT 84
Funeral services for John Axton, 84, a Center township native and
retired farmer, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Werry
Chapel. The Rev. Robert Carter, pastor of Wadesville General Baptist
church officiated, with interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery near Wadesville.
Mr. Axton, who was born on a farm near Oliver, the son of Robert
and Katherine (Becker) Axton, died at 5 p.m. Sunday in Allison Nursing Home
here suffering from Parkinson Disease, his health had been deteriorating for
about two years. He had been hospitalized prior to and during his stay in
the nursing home.
He was a farmer throughout his working years in Center, Lynn and
Black townships.
Surviving are the wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs Geraldine Hayes and Mrs. Eva Causey of Mt. Vernon; two
sons, Hubert of Wadesville and Malcolm of R. R. 1 Wadesville, a sister, Mrs.
Newman William's, of Mt. Vernon 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
