Eleanor (Mills) Rose, 86, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 surrounded by family in Mt. Vernon. She was born August 19, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, IN to Raymond and Alvena (Thomas) Mills. Joyce worked at Medco as a nurse’s aid for eighteen years. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Civil Defense. The Mills ancestors where some of the original settlers of this Indiana territory.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Millard Kenneth “Kenny” Rose; sister, Mildred “Minnie” Kivilin.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Shirley Rose of Mt. Vernon, IN and Nancy (David) Juncker of Mt. Vernon; son, Kenneth (Dee) Rose of Mt. Vernon; brother, Robert Mills of Miami, FL; seven grandchildren, Tonya McDaniel, Chris Juncker, Kimberly Bredemeier, Kenneth Travis Rose, Brian Wesley Rose, Andrea Devon Rose, and Krista Michele Rose; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Nick Dyke officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, January 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
