Bernard G. “Sonny” Brandsasse, 82 of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday morning, January 7, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born on March 5, 1931 in Evansville, the son of Bernard H. and Catherine A. (Head) Brandsasse.

Mr. Brandsasse had been a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was of the Catholic Faith.

He is survived by one son, Bernard G. Brandsasse, Jr. of Evansville; six daughters, Vicky Martin of Poseyville, Diane Hunt of St. Phillips, Debbie Osborn of Evansville, Tina Roberson of Garrett, IN, Karen Stepro of Evansville, and Sunnie Jo Gillette of Ledbetter, KY; two brothers, Leon Brandsasse of Evansville, and Jerry Brandsasse of Mt. Vernon; five sisters, Peggy Koester, Linda Elpers, Angela Scheller, and JoAnn Dietz, all of Evansville and Donna Bonebrake of Mokena, IL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Gene and Billy Brandsasse.

There will be no funeral services at this time. Burial will be held at a later date to be announced. Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon is handling arrangements.
