Betty Ruth
Cottrell Wade Reynolds, 89, of Poseyville, Indiana,
born to George B. and Mildred H. (Antle) Cottrell on
March 27, 1924, in Pumpkin Run, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, October 16,
2013, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, after a long illness,
surrounded by her family.
She was the
oldest of seven children and lived in Poseyville,
Indiana all her life. After graduating from Robb Township (Poseyville)
High School she worked at Hoosier Cardinal in Evansville, Indiana as a “Rosie
the Riveter” on military aircraft for World War II.
On June 9,
1946, she married Earl Mott Wade, who died in 1992. Their welcoming home on Cale Street had the only swimming pool in Poseyville, Indiana where many relatives and neighboring
children learned to swim. They had two daughters: Debbie (Dennis) McCallister,
of Boardman, Ohio and Shelley (Scott) Glover, of Centralia, Illinois.
She married
Robert C. Reynolds on Jan. 3, 1998, who died December 4, 2003.
Betty and
Mott were a gregarious couple who traveled the United States as representatives
of the Dale Carnegie program. Betty enlivened many a program at civic groups
with her imitation of comedian Phyllis Diller, complete with blonde wig, and
other presentations.
She was a
born salesperson, representing Vanda Beauty Counselor, Tri Chem
Liquid Embroidery and Executive Inns.
Betty was a
member of Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton, Indiana and loved the Lord Jesus
Christ and His Word, whose gospel she spread.
In addition
to her daughters, she is survived by a stepdaughter: Sherilyn
Reynolds; grandsons: Kynan & Aaron Glover and
Joshua (Lori) McCallister; step grandchildren: April Yockey
and Brian Reynolds; step great-grandchildren: Julia and Grace Yockey; siblings: Carol Ann (Pete Turner) TenBarge of Poseyville, Indiana,
Mary Lois Finn of Evansville, Indiana, George (Phyllis) Cottrell of Fishers,
Indiana, Nancy (Don) Baker of Richmond, Virginia, Priscilla (Don) Rutledge of
Evansville, Indiana and Rodger (Barbara) Cottrell of Indianapolis, Indiana; an
aunt: Eleanor Cottrell Eagan; many nieces and nephews and “The Girls,”: Maddie,
Abby, Delores, Jeannie and Ann.
She
considered many of the residents and staff at River Oaks and her “Godsends”
from Southern Care Hospice her extended family.
Funeral
services will be 10 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at the Werry Funeral Home
in Poseyville, Indiana with burial to follow in the Poseyville Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 4–8 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the funeral home.
