Carl James Breeze, 81, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013.

He was born January 10, 1932 in Posey County, IN to James and Katherine (Clemens) Breeze. Carl was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He was the groundskeeper for MSD of Mt. Vernon for thirty-one years and retired in 1997. After retirement he volunteered at St. Matthew School. He was a lifetime member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Carl enjoyed gardening and building railroad models.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Breeze.

He is survived by his sisters, Patricia (Robert) Scace of Beallsville, MD, Martha (Gerald) Phillips of Mt. Vernon, and Mary Breeze of Mt. Vernon; two nieces, Barbara Smith and Mary Phillips; five nephews, Eric, Greg, and Brian Scace, Davin and Danin Breeze.

Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at St. Matthew Catholic Church 421 Mulberry St. Mt. Vernon, IN with Fr. Jim Sauer officiating and burial to follow at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, November 4, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. Mt. Vernon.
