Daisy Mae Roos, 94, of Mt. Vernon passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Golden Living Woodlands in Newburgh.

She was born March 13, 1919 in Okawville, IL to Walter and Delia (Jines) Irwin.

Daisy had worked as an operator for a phone company for about four years. She was a lifetime member of Zoar United Methodist and attended Black’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Daisy loved and was known for her wonderful cooking. She enjoyed traveling, being a house wife, raising her family and her many cats.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Roos; 3 sisters, Rhoda Walling, Helen Williams, and Frances Bridges.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Carolyn) Roos; daughter, Ellen Wasson; two grandchildren, Michelle Lueke (Jeff) Darnell, and Stephanie (Steven) Hurst; and 3 great-grandchildren, T.J. Darnell, Steven Richard Hurst, and Sophia Rose Hurst.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, July 15, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with burial to follow in Black Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm service time Monday at the funeral home.
