Dwight Keele

January 29, 1934 - July 19, 2013

Dwight W. Keele, age 79 of Mt. Vernon, IN died Friday at Deaconess Hospice in Evansville.

He was born January 29, 1934 at Harmony, IL the son of Leuty and Ruth (Sumner) Keele.

He married Marilyn Lane on March 18, 1956 at Mt. Vernon, IL.

Dwight taught school in Champaign for 22 years before working for Marathon Oil in Mt. Vernon, IN for 25 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, Owen Dunn Post #5, the National Education Association, and the NRA. Dwight’s family had been longtime members of the Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; 1 son, Jason (Laura) Keele of Evansville; 2 daughters, Sue Ellen (Danny) Taylor of Clarksville, TN and Terry Capel of Hilton Heard, SC; 7 grandchildren, Katrina Vance, Travis Taylor, Nolan and Caleb Keele, Kaelob and J.C. Capel and Nicole Hutchcraft; 2 great-grandchildren, Colton and Mason Vance

Services, 7 p.m. Monday July 22, 2013, at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, IN.

Visitation, 4-7 p.m. on Monday with military rites immediately following at the funeral home by Owen Dunn Post #5. Graveside services will be Saturday July 27, 2013 at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IL.
