Mary Eleanor (Price) Schmitzer, 87, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville.

She was born October 12, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, IN to Arthur “Verdean” and Martha (Downen) Price.

Mary was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She was a homemaker and supported her family on their farm in Posey County. Mary was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and Christian Services at Trinity, and the Eastern Star. She loved to read, cook, and spend time with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Schmitzer; sons, Gary (Marilyn) Schmitzer, Robert (Vickie) Schmitzer, and David (Laura) Schmitzer all of Mt. Vernon; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; cousins, Dodie Straub, Susie Richardson, Marilyn Cartwright.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Cynthia Priem officiating with burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and continued from 10:00 am until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
