Charles Kleinschmidt, 84, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on December 1, 1928 in Posey County, IN to Clem and Beatrice (Woods) Kleinschmidt.

Charlie was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired in 1985 from Sears and Roebuck. Charlie enjoyed camping, being outdoors, and especially enjoyed time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Jean (Davis) Kleinschmidt; brothers, Jackie Clyde, and Lloyd; sister, Geraldine Cotner – O’Rear.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Carol Hawkins (Rick) of Mt. Vernon; sons, Alan Kleinschmidt (Terri) of Bloomington, IL and Brian Kleinschmidt (Melissa) of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Jennifer, Joey, Jeremy, Heather, Andrea, Krysta, and Ben; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Eugene Kleinschmidt; sisters, Anna Marie Oschman, and Helen Garrett; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the funeral home.
