Alice “Pepper” Ludwig Schroeder, 61, born to Lyle and Lorna Jean (Hagele) Ludwig on November 12, 1951 in Bloomington, Illinois, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at her residence in Poseyville, Indiana.

Pepper was raised in the St. Louis Area attending school at McClure where she graduated with the class of 1971. She attended Community College at Jefferson City, Missouri. She has managed numerous food and Beverage operations and was co-owner of the Landmark Restaurant in Evansville, Indiana.

In 1988 she moved to New Harmony, Indiana and worked for a time at the Red Geranium Restaurant. After a long career in hospitality, she decided to become a casino worker and take classes to become a dealer where she worked from 1995 until her retirement in 2009.

Pepper was an avid animal lover and taught obedience classes for over 12 years in the St. Louis Area. She had belonged to Australian Shepherds Club of America (ASCA) and the North County Obedience Club, St. Louis.
Pepper was a key player in getting Australian Shepherds recognized by the American Kennel Club. She had developed a foundation stock that included a hall of fame Sire and numerous best in show titles. She actively showed dogs and taught the standards to her daughter.

She married her husband, Daniel on July 8, 1989.

Survivors include her husband of 23 years: Daniel Schroeder; a daughter: Jamie Orr of Warrensburg, Missouri; mother: Lorna Ludwig of Pearland, Texas; two sisters: Ginger Pickering of St. Charles, Missouri and Claire Ludwig of Pearland, Texas.

Pepper was preceded in death by her father: Lyle and a sister: Amy Ludwig.

Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.

Visitation will be 6-9PM Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana.
