Sharon J. Hanmore, age 65 of Mt. Vernon, died early Thursday morning January 31, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital.

She was born July 12, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Wesley and Ellen (Turner) Nelson.

She married Richard Hanmore on June 13, 1966 and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2005. 

Sharon had worked as a nurse aid at the nursing home and the Posey County Health Department. She loved watching the cooking channel and listening to country music. 

She is survived by 1 son, Rick Hanmore; 3 daughters, Monica Goldsberry, Kathy (Arnold) Wyatt and Tina (Kerry) Shephard all of Mt. Vernon; 2 brothers, Roger Nelson of Mt. Vernon and Larry (Jackie) Nelson of Mt. Carmel, IL; 1 sister, Martha (Wilfred) Nobles of Mt. Vernon; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers, Don, Gordon, John and Joseph Wayne; and 2 sisters, Marjorie Moore and Carolyn Cox. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday February 2, 2013 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with Rev. Troy DeKemper officiating. Burial will be in Blacks Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service.
