William Hancock, 70, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. He was born on July 14, 1942 to John and Yettive (Saltzman) Hancock.

He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Bill was a member of the American Legion Owen Dunn Post #5 in Mt. Vernon. He retired from Gottman Electric.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; infant son; and 6 siblings.

Bill is survived by his sons, Jason (LeAnn) Hancock and Daniel Hancock; grandchildren, Hali and McKenzie; brothers, Clifton and Vernon Hancock; sisters, Bonita Jared and Kay Denning.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2012 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon.
