Florence (Ashworth) Waters, 93, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville.

She was born in Mt. Vernon, IN on October 26, 1919 to Herb and Merty (Frailey) Ashworth.

Florence was a 1938 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and a 1939 graduate of Lockyear Business College. She had worked at Servel for 20 years and then went on to retire from Whirlpool in 1982 after 24 years of service. Florence was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, Wilson Waters in 1994;step daughter, Judith Ann Taylor in 1999; brothers, Millard Edward “Buster” Ashworth; Kenneth Dale Ashworth; sister, Dorothy Mae Ashworth; niece, Sandra Kay (Ashworth) Flack; nephew, John Herbert Ashworth.

Florence is survived by her brother, James E. Ashworth and his wife, Wanda; sister in law, Wilma Ashworth; step daughter, Sherri Jo Miller; nieces and nephews, Vicki Trapp and her husband, Leon, Rae Duncan and her husband, Bill, Cheryl Morlock, Karen Ashworth, Ben Fuller; numerous step grandchildren; numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with private burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
