Helen Mae (Strean) Hobson, 88, of Mt. Vernon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born 7 Oct 1924.

Helen worked for the Shipyard, Exon Coat Factory, Pioneer, McCurdy’s Nursing Home and Dean’s Place. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church in Wadesville, IN. Helen loved to read, listen to music, play bingo and plant flowers. She enjoyed being a member of the Women of the Moose and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Nellie (Hutchison) Strean of Springfield, IN; husband, Clyde E. Hobson of Grandview, IN; sons, Norman “Tiny” Hobson of Mt. Vernon, and James E. Hobson of Kannapolis, NC; as well as several siblings.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Mary (Mike) Stillwagoner of Mt. Vernon; son, Lloyd Hobson of Springfield, IN; daughter in law, Ora Hobson of Kannapolis, NC; grandchildren, Misty, Jeff, Jimmy, Francis, Delbert, Paul, Candice, Tad, Brenda, Bobby, Dorothy, Kendall, April, Jennette, Daniel, Becky, EJ, Tonya, Johnathon, Brooke, Melanie and Chris; great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amy , Crystal, Christine, Aaron, Wendy, Paul III, Nancy, Heather, Caroline, Alexis, Shaman, Gracey, Tristan, Amanda, Allen, Kimberly, RJ, Wyatt, Brayden, Felicia, Johanna, Brittany; great great grandchildren, Trinity, Trenton, Jayden, Justice, Lindsay, Tiffany, Christina, Zachary, Dominick, Katlyn, Tyler, Braxton, and Kayla.

Helen was a strong courageous woman who loved with all her heart and will forever be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday November 23, 2012 at Mt. Zion General Baptist Church in Wadesville, IN with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm service time on Friday at the church.
