Barbara Gail King

On the evening of October 14th, 2017, Barbara Gail (Anderson) King, came to the end of a seventeen-year battle with breast cancer. She passed from this life with her husband of fifty-five years – Jerry King – by her side. Barbara was a native of French Lick, IN. She was born there on March 30, 1944 and was a graduate of Springs Valley High School, class of 1962. She and Jerry married there on February 24, 1962. In the fifty-five years she spent as wife, mother and nanna extraordinaire, she was blessed with four daughters, Tracina Kay Ruzicka, Bethami Zsaneen King, Ami Carol McIntyre and Jera Maielle King, all of whom survive her. Her life was also enriched with six grandchildren, Kelsie Owens, Taylor King, Evan and Madison McIntyre, Ashby Snyder and Nicholaus Hall, and one great-granddaughter, Jolie Whitham. Barbara was the third child of Orville and Dovie Anderson, both from French Lick, IN and both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by one brother, Jerry Anderson and one sister, Linda Plimpton, both of whom reside in French Lick, and by one half-sister Sharon Denton of Wilsonville, AL. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, many of whom reside in southern Indiana. Barbara loved the beautiful things of nature, especially beautiful flowers, hummingbirds and giraffes. The face of a child would melt her heart and children seemed to be drawn to her intuitively. She loved dancing and – in younger years – motorcycle riding with Jerry. But Barbara’s life was really defined by two things, faith and family. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and actively engaged in bible study and shared her faith through door-to-door ministry from childhood. She was a woman of great integrity and quiet strength and was nothing less than inspiring for the dignity and character she displayed in her long and bitter battle with a relentless foe. She will be missed by a multitude of family, friends and admirers far more than any words can ever describe.
