From "History of Leipsic 1851 - 1934", Chap.IV: Dr. Richard Walters came to Norteast township about the year 1853 and located on the railroad three quarters mile east of Leipsic. He practiced over a large area, making his calls on horseback, and using saddle bages for his medicine cases until his death in 1878.
