FIRST GENERATION

1. David NEWLIN was born on 21 Aug 1837 in Orange County, Indiana. He died on 11 Aug 1908 in Orange County, Indiana. He was buried in Lick Creek Cemetery, Orange County, Indiana. DON HAMMOND HAS THE FAMILY BIBLE OF DAVID AND SARAH NEWLIN AND A CERTIFIED COPY OF DAVID AND SARAH'S MARRIAGE LICENSE, issued by Orange County, Indiana. David and Sarah's wedding services performed by John H. Bobbitt (Minister). Clerk of Court, John L. Migenity issued marriage license 12/27/1870.

SECOND GENERATION

2. Jonathan NEWLIN was born in 1789 in Alamance County, North Carolina. He died in 1860 in Orange County, Indiana. He was buried in Lick Creek Cemetery, Orange County, Indiana. Jonathan Newlin was William Newlin's brother. He immigrated from North Carolina in 1817. He married Mary LINDLEY in 1814 in Orange County, Indiana. Jonathan and Mary Lindley Newlin have a monument in Lick Creek graveyard in Paoli, Indiana

3. Mary LINDLEY was born in 1798 in Orange County, ?NC?. She died in 1845 in Orange County, Indiana. She was buried in Lick Creek Cemetery, Orange County, Indiana. Mary and Jonathan arrived in Orange County, Indiana, 18 months before Hannah (Lindley) Newlin arrived. Their homestead was southwest of Paoli, Orange County, Indiana. Jonathan NEWLIN and Mary LINDLEY had the following children:

THIRD GENERATION

4. James NEWLIN was born on 27 Apr 1747 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He died on 15 Jul 1813 in Orange County, North Carolina (now: Alamance County). He was buried in Spring Meeting Cemetery, Alamance County, North Carolina. James was almost 21 year old, when Concord Meeting sent his certificate of membership to Cane Creek Meeting in North Carolina. James and Deborah met in the southern part of Alamance County, North Carolina, which be came Orange County, North Carolina, Reference: "The Newlin Family, Ancestors and Descendants of John and Mary Pyle", by Aglie I. Newlin, Guilford College, Greensboro, North Carolina. James is buried next to his mother and father Springs Friends Meeting Cemetery, Alamance County, North Carolina. His grave marker (stone) was from the ruins of the chimney of the John Newlin home. The will of James Newlin is printed in the: "The Newlin Family, Ancestors and Descendants of John and Mary Pyle Newlin", by Algie Newlin. page 573. He was married to Deborah LINDLEY on 22 Jan 1772 in Cane Creek Meeting Alamance County, North Carolina.

5. Deborah LINDLEY was born on 28 Jun 1753 in Orange (Alamance) County, North Carolina. She died between 1823 and 1830 in Lick Creek, Orange County, Indiana. She was the 2nd white child born in Lower Cane Creek Valley, North Carolina and was the first of the Lindley family to be born at Cane Creek, Orange County (Alamance) North Carolina. James and Deborah lived and reared their children overlooking Cane Creek from the north. Over the years his holdings were nearly 1000 acres.. After the death of James, Deborah (age 60) moved with her older son, Thomas and the rest of the younger children to Indiana Territory (1814-1815), five hundred miles west, to Lick Creek community of southern Indiana (Orange County, Indiana.) James NEWLIN and Deborah LINDLEY had the following children:

6. Thomas LINDLEY III was born on 19 Sep 1766 in Orange County, North Carolina. He died in 1835 in Orange County, Indiana. He was buried in Lick Creek Cemetery, Orange County, Indiana. He was married to Miriam JONES on 14 Mar 1785 in North Carolina.

7. Miriam JONES was born on 5 Nov 1761 in Orange County, North Carolina. Thomas LINDLEY III and Miriam JONES had the following children:

FOURTH GENERATION

8. John NEWLIN, JR was born in 1716. He died in 1805 in Spring Friends Meeting, Alamance County, North Carolina.. John Newlin is buried at Springs Friends Meeting, in the southern part if Alamance County, North Carolina. John and Mary are buried under a cedar tree and it still stands tall, green and healthy after 200+ years. In 1930 descendants placed a marked on the grave, which reads, "In Memory of John Newlin & Mary Pyle". Grandfather and great grandparents immigrated from Ireland to Pennsylvania 1688. Reference: "The Newlin Family, Ancestors and Descendants of John and Mary Pyle Newlin" by Algie I. Newlin, 1965, Guilford College, Greensboro, North Carolina. His Will is printed on page 572 of "The Newlin Family, Ancestors and Descendants of John and Mary Pyle Newlin", by Algie Newlin. The document witnessed by: John Carter, Ann Carter and Hannah Carter. He was married to Mary PYLE on 13 Apr 1745 in Concord, Pennsylvania.

9. Mary PYLE was born in 1724. She died in 1790 in Orange County now--Alamance County, North Carolina. She is buried in Springs Friends Cemetery, Alamance County, North Carolina. Don Hammond has a picture of the grave marker. She died at age 66. Reference: Chapter V, "John and Mary Pyle Newlin Family", published by Algie I. Newlin, Box 8345, Guilford College, Greensboro, North Carolina, 27410, published:1965. John NEWLIN, JR. and Mary PYLE had the following children:

10. Thomas LINDLEY was born on 25 Apr 1706 in Carlow County, Ireland. Thomas was married to Ruth HADLEY on 21 Oct 1731 in New Garden Month Meeting, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He died on 14 Sep 1781 in Orange/Alamance County, North Carolina. His an estate probated in 1782 in Hillsboro, North Carolina. He was buried in Spring Friends Cemetery, Orange County, North Carolina. He died the day of the Battle of Lindley's Mill, one of the last battles of the. Revolutionary. War, He operated a water Grist Mill, known as Lindley's Mill. . Thomas came to Pennsylvania from Carlow County, Ireland, 1713. He was 7 years old.

11. Ruth HADLEY was born on 6 Feb 1712 in Moate M.M., West Meath County, Ireland. She died on 4 Dec 1785 in Orange County, North Carolina. She was buried in Spring Friends Cemetery, Orange County, North Carolina. Thomas LINDLEY and Ruth HADLEY had the following children:

12. Thomas LINDLEY was born on 7 Oct 1740 in London Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He died on 28 Feb 1833 in Cane Creek Meeting, Orange County, North Carolina. He was buried in Cane Creek Meeting Cemetery, Alamance, North Carolina. Thomas and Sarah came to Orange County, Indiana Territory, with Owen (their first born) in 1753.

Reference: Marjorie Lapping, from Hinshaw, Vol 1, page 438. She states died Chatman County, North Carolina. He was married to Sarah EVANS/ SARA on 2 May 1759 in Orange County, Cane Creek M.M., North Carolina.

13. Sarah EVANS/ SARA was born on 15 Jan 1743 in Chester County, North Carolina. She died on 25 Oct 1796 in Cane Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery, North Carolina. Reference: Hinshaw, Vol. 1, page 438. Buried Cane Creek Friends Meeting, Alamance County, North Carolina.

Thomas LINDLEY and Sarah EVANS/ SARA had the following children:

14. Aaron JONES was born on 3 Jul 1728 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Aaron came from Hopewell Meeting, Frederick County, Virginia to Cane Creek Meeting in 1751.

15. Hannah CHEASTON was born on 11 Aug 1737 in Perqui Mans County, North Carolina. Aaron JONES and Hannah CHEASTON had the following children:
