7.     Barbara Ann Mowery1–2,4 was born on November 14, 1845 in Martin, Indiana, United States.  This date is from her obituary and grave stone, but the year is questionable.  Her age in the censuses reported by her parents suggests a year of 1841, a year that fits better in the lineup of children than 1845 does.

She appeared in the census in 1850 in Madison Township, Daviess, Indiana, United States.  She appeared in the census in 1860 in McCameron Township, Martin, Indiana, United States.  She appeared in the census in 1870 in McCameron Township, Martin, Indiana, United States.  She appeared in the census in 1880 in McCameron Township, Martin, Indiana, United States.

Her husband and five children survive.  She has lived in this county since '81 and in the home where she died for the last ten years.  Her neighbors mourn her as a good friend and true woman.  Funeral was held Sunday, Rev. S. Clark preaching the funeral sermon."  The Osceola Sentinel (January 25, 1900) reported "Barbary Ann Mowery was born in Martin county, Indiana, November 14, 1845, and died January 12, 1900, aged fifty-four years, one month and twenty nine days.  She was married to Fargust Lamb August 23, 1863.  To this union was born three sons and two daughters, all of whom survive and with the exception of one were present at the funeral.  She moved to Clarke county, Iowa, in 1881, and has been a resident of this county ever since.  She was converted and united with the Christian Church at the age of fourteen and remained a faithful member of the body for ten years; she then moved to another part of the state and united with the M. E. church by letter, and remained a faithful member of that body until she moved to Iowa in 1881.  She neglected to draw a letter from the church in Indiana and unite with any church in this state, but she still retained that hope in Christ that she experienced at the age of fourteen, which enabled her to live through the forty years a true companion and a loving mother.  Her aim was to make those around her comfortable and happy as much as possible, and to admonish the living, to arouse their ambition to higher, grander and nobler blessings than this world affords.  She told her people a few days before her death that she was going to die and that she was ready for God's will to be done.  She was able to talk to her friends this world was not their home and advised them to make all necessary arrangements to leave this world and enter into a better world where joys were sublime.  The funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. S. Clark at the M. E. church in Woodburn, Iowa, to a large audience, after which the remains were laid to rest in the new cemetery south of town.  The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community."  She was buried at Woodburn Cemetery in Clarke, Iowa, United States.

He appeared in the census in 1850 in Madison Township, Daviess, Indiana, United States.  He appeared in the census in 1860 in McCameron Township, Martin, Indiana, United States.  He appeared in the census in 1880 in Scotland, Greene, Indiana, United States.  It lists William (34), Mary Ann (30), Jesse (10), William (7) and Sarah (9/12).  His occupation was farm laborer.  He appeared in the census in 1900 in McCameron Township, Martin, Indiana, United States.  It lists William (56), Mary (49), William (27) and Sarah (20).  His occupation was farmer.

Third Generation

11.  Leonard Ridenbark1,4 was born in October, 1854 in Indiana, United States.  His true birth date is anyone's guess.  He reported October 26, 1984 on one marriage record, October 25, 1854 on another one, and October 1853 on the 1900 census.   The other censuses indicate 1853-54.  His death certificate reported June 7, 1857, which is almost certainly incorrect.

He appeared in the census in 1860 in Madison Township, Daviess, Indiana, United States.  He appeared in the census in 1870 in Madison Township, Daviess, Indiana, United States.  He appeared in the census in 1880 in Taylor Township, Greene, Indiana, United States.  It lists Leonard (24), Louisa (23) and Martha (2).  His occupation was farmer.  He appeared in the census in 1900 in Taylor Township, Greene, Indiana, United States.  It lists Leonard (46), Louisa (45), Nancy (17), Josie (14), Charles (12), Leonard (10), Louisa (7) and William (2).  His occupation was farmer.  He appeared in the census in 1910 in Taylor Township, Greene, Indiana, United States.  It lists Leonard (55), Louisa (65).  He appeared in the census in 1920 in Bloomington, Monroe, Indiana, United States.  It lists Leonard (65), widower, living with his son William.

She appeared in the census in 1880 in Taylor Township, Greene, Indiana, United States.  She appeared in the census in 1900 in Taylor Township, Greene, Indiana, United States.  She appeared in the census in 1910 in Taylor Township, Greene, Indiana, United States.  She died on November 7, 1918 at the age of 63 in Greene, Indiana, United States (book R-16, page 123).  She was buried at Simpson Chapel Cemetery in Greene, Indiana, United States.

Leonard Ridenbark and Ellen Alvira Daugherty were married on June 9, 1920.  Ellen Alvira Daugherty1–2 was born in April, 1858 in Indiana, United States.  This date is from the 1900 census.  She appeared in the census in 1900 in Stafford Township, Greene, Indiana, United States.  She is with her first husband, Thomas Johnson.  She died before 1936 at the age of 78 in Indiana, United States.  This is based on Leonard's death certificate, which listed him as a widower.

Notes

1.       Census Data:  Rather than repeat the detail from a family census entry in each person’s record, it has been recorded only in the Head of Household record, and only the census year and location are recorded in the family member records (with a few exceptions, like adult children living with their parents).  If you are reviewing a person who is not the Head of Household, be sure to look at the Head of Household entry to see if there is additional information.

2.       Name Spelling:  The spelling of names in source documents is often incorrect, with the name being spelled the way the writer thought it sounded.  The spelling could be different in every document.  In most cases the name is reported in this document as it was written, but some gross misspellings have been corrected.

3.       Direct Ancestral Line:  The direct ancestors of Sharon Marlene Jones Lane are highlighted in blue.  Names highlighted in orange show links between Marlene’s various family lines.  More information on families in orange can be found in the descendants sheet for their surname.
