Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Moore's Ridge church, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery." The Springs Valley Herald (May 22, 1930) reported "George W. Crowe, son of John and Sarah Crowe, was born March 13, 1842 in Washington County, Tennessee. Departed this life May 5, 1930. Age 88 years, 1 month and 22 days. He was the oldest of six children, all of which have preceded him in death, except the youngest brother, Nelson of Tompkinsville, Kentucky. On October 7, 1860 he was united in marriage to Catherine Condra and to this union seven children were born, six boys and one girl. Four of them have preceded him in death. On October 12, 1920 his wife departed this life and since then he had made his home with his son Henry. On October 10, 1861 he enlisted in the army and served his country until the close of the war, 1865. Receiving an honorable discharge he returned home and came to the community of Moore's Ridge where he remained until death. He leaves to mourn his loss three sons, Newton, Andrew and Henry all of French Lick; one brother, Nelson of Tompkinsville, Kentucky; twenty-one grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. His last days he prayed to his Master to save him and take him from his suffering. He told his loved ones he was not afraid of death. Uncle George as he was known will be missed as he was loved by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted at the Moore's Ridge M. E. Church Wednesday, May 7th at 2 p.m. by Rev. Otho Jackson, after which burial took place in the Moore's Ridge cemetery." He was buried on May 7, 1930 at Moore's Ridge Cemetery in Orange, Indiana, United States.

Their companionship was destined to be short-lived, for she left him after they had been together only eight years. He continued to keep a home for their four children: Clint, who was called in 1941; Delbert and Della, twins, who remain to mourn his passing; and Ella Elizabeth, who stayed with him only one year. Two unnamed babies had preceded his wife in death. In 1922, under to pastorate of Elder Volney T. Trimble, God found His way into Grandpa's heart at the Briner Springs Church of Christ. Since that time, although he was not able to attend church regularly, he has been a very steady worker for God. For the past several years he has been at home with Delbert and his family where he answered his Master's call Jan. 17, 1948, aged 86 years, two months and six days. Besides the twins, Delbert and Della, he leaves one brother, Henry C. Crowe, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends." They are Minnie E., Edith E., Nora F., Cora A. and an infant son. He united with the Church of Christ three years ago under the pastorate of Elder Volney Trimble and owing to his condition was baptized at home. He has been in failing health for about twenty years, but the last three years he has often told his friends and relatives that he was prepared to go and was only waiting the summons of the master. He leaves to mourn his departure the grief stricken wife and five children, thirteen grandchildren, and aged father and three brothers, namely: Newton Crowe, Andrew and Henry C. The Courier Press (January 5, 2009) reported "Dennis Dean Crowe, 85, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away on January 2, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born in Orange County, Indiana, on July 22, 1923. He served as a paratrooper with the 187th Glider Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan during WWII. When the war ended, his regiment was selected to spearhead the occupation of Japan and gained the distinction of being the first foreign combat unit to enter Japan. Dennis, who graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in 1949 and a Master of Science in 1952, enjoyed a long career as a licensed educator which began in the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind. He then moved to Evansville and began teaching at Harper Elementary followed by Reitz High School. He also taught as an adjunct instructor at the University of Evansville. In 1960, he was inducted into Phi Delta Kappa, a professional fraternity of educators. I n 1962, he was appointed head of the Industrial Arts Department at Harrison High School, a position he held until his retirement in 1981. In addition to being an educator, Dennis was also an ordained minister. A creative man of immense and diverse talents, Dennis enjoyed woodcarving, building furniture, writing poetry, drawing, camping, traveling, reading, and inventing. He appreciated nature, loved children, and helped others. He looked for and found the best in everyone and always gave the best he had. His life and love for family and friends was a reflection of his spirituality and deep, abiding faith. A devoted husband, dedicated father, doting grandfather, and loyal brother, Dennis will be profoundly missed by his wife, Cindy (Long) Crowe; his daughter, Roxana; his son, Jason; his grandchildren, Audrey and Franklin; and his surviving sibling, Dale Crowe of Jeffersonville, Indiana. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center and St. Mary's for their compassionate care given to Dennis during his stay. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Fr. John Judie, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. The American Legion Kapperman Post will conduct military rites at the cemetery. Friends may also visit Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home." He died on September 25, 2012 at the age of 79 in Hendricks, Indiana, United States. His obituary reported "Jim was born in French Lick, Indiana, to Fred L. and Ethel (Parks) Crowe who preceded him in death. Jim earned his Bachelor's Degree from General Motors Institute. He served in the United States Army in Korea. He worked for Allison Gas Turbine for over 40 years, retiring in 1992. Jim was a kind and gentle soul who dedicated his life to community service. He has been a member of the Avon Optimist Club since 1972. He was Club Past President, Past Zone Lt. Governor, Past Indiana District Governor and an Optimist International Past Vice President. He was chair of the Host Committee for Optimist International Convention in Indianapolis in 2002. Jim was also a 33rd Degree Mason at Speedway Masonic Lodge #729 where he recently received his 50 year pin. He belonged to the Murat Shriners and especially enjoyed belonging to the Corvette Club. In Hendricks County (Indiana), Jim had served on the Board of Directors of West Central Conservancy District, the Avon Community School Board, the Avon Library Board, the Avon Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning and Appeals. Jim was a member of Avon United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Gail (Griggs) Crowe; brother, Robert Parks Crowe; sister, Fredina J. Crowe; in-laws, Thad and Louise Griggs, Sue and Tom Greer and Karen Griggs; several nieces and nephews and a host of grateful friends and colleagues. Visitation from 48 p.m. Monday, October 1st in Family Funeral Care (5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2nd in Avon United Methodist Church, 6850 US Highway 36, Avon, with calling there beginning at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Westridge Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the James P. Crowe Memorial Fund at Hendricks County Community Foundation, 6319 East U.S. Highway 36, Suite 211, Avon, IN 46123."
