On a steep slope, north of the Faucett Tavern site, is a
lone grave, marked by a heavy stone slab, with crudely cut inscription,
which marks the grave of Michael Miller's wife. He
once owned the land and taught a school here in 1823. Later George
Faucett came from North Carolina, acquired the land and
maintained a tavern where the stage coach horses were changed, this
being an old spur of the New Albany-Vincennes stage road. Inscription
is viz: Here lays the body of Sary Miller. Departed
this life on Thursday, August 10 in the fort-first year of her age.
Died 1826.. 40 y and 5d.
