Burgess Family Cemetery

From the Cemetery Records compiled by the Lost River Chapter DAR

Stampers Creek Township Section 8 - T1N R2E. Abandoned

This little, almost obliterated family burial plot lies a few rods south of State Highway 56 on the old Burgess farm, now owned by Carl Boyd of Paoli. Only four stones with inscriptions were found, but the ground had been tramped over by stock so that the number of graves was not evident, and such stones as were found were broken. Dobson Burgess and Rhoda Dobbins were married in 1829. Inscription on Mason Burgess stone reads: Elizabeth, wife of Mason Burgess 24 Mar 1782-17 Mar 1821? (Cornwell).
