VN14D8 FLYING A CURTISS SNC-1 FALCON. ON MARCH 5, 1942 AT 0825 A.M. CIRCLING
FIELD #42 FOR A SIMULATED CARRIER LANDING WITH WHEELS AND FLAPS FULLY EXTENDED
HE LOST FLYING SPEED AND ENTERED A SPIN. HE RECOVERED FROM THE SPIN BUT DID NOT
REGAIN SUFFICIENT FLYING SPEED. HIS PLANE CRASHED 15 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF
NAVAL AIR STATION, CORPUS CHRISTI, AND HE WAS KILLED.
