Entered service on 14
August 1943 In Louisville,Kentucky.Discharged on 28 January
1946.Trained at Camp Van Dorn,Mississippi. Left on 6 November 1944
for England. Arrived in Marseille,France December 1944 and January
1945.The 255th Infantry Regiment was attached to the 100th Infantry
Division on 30 December 1944 until February 1945.From mid February
until early March went from Sarreguemines,France through the
Siegfried line to Worms,Mannheim,Heidelberg,Gunzburg ending up at
Landsberg,Germany until V-E Day. Division was in combat for 119
days. Served in the 7th Army with the 63rd Infantry Division"Blood
and Fire",255th Infantry Regiment H Company. in the European Theater
of Operation. Awarded the Bronze Star for Meritous Achievement from
6 to 8 January 1945 in the vicinity of Hottviller,France.
