Served with the 8th Air Force 447th Bomb Group,711th Bombardment
Squadron[Heavy]. A bombardier on B-17G Serial Number 42-31173 "Maid
to Please".Departed Army Air Base Harvard,Nebraska for
Rattlesden,England on 12 November 1943. Killed in Action on a bomb
run to Ludluigshaffen,Germany on 30 December 1943.Target was
I.G.Faben Chemical plant.At 3:04 P.M. dropped out of formation was
hit by flak crashed near Henonville,France 4 crew killed in action,5
crew POW's 1 crew Evaded.1st aircraft lost by the 447th Bomb
Group.
