1943 at Louisville, Kentucky. Trained at Camp McKeen, Miss. Assigned
to the 34th Infantry Division as a rifleman and a Browning Automatic
Rifleman. Wounded in the right leg by a mortar fragment in the
battle for the famous monastery at Cassino, Italy. Award include the
Bronze Star Medal and the Purple heart.
