ASSIGNED TO THE USS COLBERT APA-145, A HASKELL CLASS ATTACK TRANSPORT IN THE
PACIFIC FLEET. SAILED FOR PEARL HARBOR ON 15 APRIL 1945 AND ON TO OKINAWA. ON 17
SEPTEMBER SAILED FROM OKINAWA TO EVADE A TYPHOON HITTING A FLOATING MINE KNOCK
OUT THE ENGINE ROOM LEAVING THE SHIP WITH NO POWER. TOWED BACK TO OKINAWA AND ON
TO GUAM. TRANSFERRED TO GUAM, MARIANAS ISLAND FOR TRANSPORTATION TO THE UNITED
STATES FOR DISCHARGE ON 14 DECEMBER 1945. RATING OF SEAMAN FIRST CLASS.
