DE-190, A CANNON CLASS DESTROYER ESCORT OF THE 48TH ESCORT DIVISION-ATLANTIC
FLEET FOR ESCORT DUTY. EARNED ONE BATTLE STAR FOR ASSISTANCE IN SINKING THE
GERMAN U BOAT 233. RESCUED 31 SURVIVORS. ON 23 FEBRUARY 1945 SUSTAINED HEAVY
DAMAGE FROM A NORTH ATLANTIC STORM. ANCHORED AT REYKJAVIK, ICELAND FOR REPAIRS.
TRANSFERRED ON 31 OCTOBER 1945 TO GREAT LAKES NAVAL STATION, ILLINOIS FOR
DISCHARGE. RATING OF SEAMAN FIRST CLASS.
