Paul Douglas Abrams, 81, of Shipshewana, died at 2:43 pm on Tuesday, April 25 at his residence. He was born on August 15, 1935 in Three Rivers, MI, to Ernest and Margaret (Douglas) Abrams. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1957. On August 2, 1958 he married Cathy Pierson, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Christine (Douglas) Pagels of Sturgis, MI, Teresa Abrams of Three Rivers, MI; son, Steve (Kimberly) Abrams of White Pigeon, MI; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two sisters, Monna Zeltner of Myrtle Beach, SC, Debbie (Tom) James of Three Rivers, MI. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Abrams and his mothers Margaret Douglas and Marchellina Abrams. Paul was a veteran and served in the Air Force and the Army Reserves. He was a self-employed TV repairman, a unique inventor, and could fix anything. He enjoyed spending time at the airport, living on the lake and had many friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service. Memorial contributions may be given to Dementia Society of America.

Jerry W. Antrup, 49, died Friday, June 10, 2016, at his home in rural Waterloo. Mr. Antrup worked for 11 years at International Paper (Tri-wall) in Butler. He was born February 21, 1967, in Bryan, Ohio. He was a 1985 graduate of DeKalb High School. He married Amy L. Brownell on August 22, 1992, in Auburn, and she survives in Waterloo. Also surviving are two sons, Kaleb Antrup of Waterloo, and Carson Antrup of Waterloo; his father, Richard Antrup of Auburn; his mother, Carol (Sevrence) Bailey of Waterloo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Jenny Antrup of Auburn, and Jeff and Kim Antrup of Auburn; and a sister and brother-in-law, Chrissy and Ray Henderson Jr. of Golden Lake. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Marcus Carlson will be officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Visitation will also be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Relay For Life of DeKalb County.

Jerry W. Bailey, 66, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jerry was the son of the late Ivan and Harriet Bailey. Jerry graduated from Elmhurst High School. Jerry founded Jerry W. Bailey Trucking Inc. in 1976 and expanded his small two truck operation to over 60 trucks in operation today. Jerry was very passionate about his job and loved going to work. Jerry enjoyed golfing, going to car shows, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Ralph Dwayne "R.D." Baker, 85 of Fort Wayne, died on May 15, 2017, 6:40 p.m. He was the husband of the late Linda (Arnold) Baker and the son of the late Ralph and Grace (Sponhower) Baker. Surviving are his five children Phil (Janie) Baker; Andy (Tracy) Baker; Dan (Karen) Baker; Amy (Scott) Davis; and Annette Baker; and sister, Bette Way.

Jordan "Wayne" Baughman, 80, of Butler passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born November 9, 1935, in Auburn to Eugene and Ruth (Berry) Baughman. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He married Mary Lou Trenary on December 5, 1958, in Newville, and she survives in Butler. Jordan was a lifetime local farmer and also worked as an electrician for the Citation Corporation in Butler for 43 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church in Butler. He was also a member of the Butler Eagles and the American Legion Post 97 of Auburn. Also surviving are a son, Jordan "Max" (Chris) Baughman of Butler; two daughters, Mary Jo (Deb Fairhurst) Baughman of Nineveh, and LuAnn (Bill) Leighty-Fosnaugh of Rome City; six grandchildren, Jacob Leighty, Barry Baughman, Ryan Leighty, Jessica Esselburn, Matthew Fosnaugh, and Michael Fosnaugh; 10 great grandchildren, Rhianna Leighty, Jazmin Leighty, Ella Leighty, Zavior Myers, Logan Leighty, Jordan Rose Leighty, Gray Fox, Dylen Fox, Sadie Fosnaugh, and Lucas Fosnaugh; a brother, Arthur V. Mary R. Betz Christlieb, age 86, of Butler passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her daughter's home in Charlottesville, Virginia. Mrs. Christlieb was born on August 22, 1929 in Wawaka, Indiana. She was born to Elmer and Elma (Taggart) Biddle. Her first husband was Lyston Betz, the father of her children. Her second husband was Otis Gilbert Betz and he passed away in 1982. She then married Dale Christlieb and he preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Christlieb was a hairdresser and owned and operated the Cut and Curl on Willow Street in Butler for 30 years. She also worked for Universal Tool in Butler for 12 years retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Butler Church of Christ on Oak Street in Butler. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Butler where she served as past president, Auburn Moose Auxiliary, Auburn Elks Auxiliary and the Business Professional Women's group in Butler. Mrs. Christlieb was an avid bowler in leagues at the Butler Lanes over the years. She was a very good bowler and even bowled perfect 300 games on several occasions. Survivors include:

Eddie Blankenship, 77, of Wolcottville died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 5:02 p.m. in his residence with his family at his side. He was born February 17, 1940, in Floyd County, Kentucky, to William and Mattie (Moore) Blankenship. On December 23, 1961, in Pikeville, Kentucky, he married Nevelene Newsome. She survives in Wolcottville. Mr. Blankenship moved to this area in 1961, coming from Kentucky. He retired after 36 years from Morgan Olson in Sturgis, Michigan. Eddie enjoyed fishing, painting bird houses, and working puzzles. But, most of all, he dearly loved his grandkids. Also surviving are a daughter, Patty Duty of Wolcottville; a son, Larry (Luckie Lackey) Blankenship of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Keith (Karen) Blankenship, Candace (Derek) Gayheart, Zack Wolf, Tabatha (Lee Prater) Parker, and JT Duty; 12 great-grandchildren, Terance, Lydia, Norman, Cameron, Allyssa, Zoe, Lucas, Angel, Greysen, Amelia, Gavin, and Lane; and a brother, Levi Blankenship of McDowell, Kentucky. Dorothy E. (Lantz) Bontrager, 89, of Goshen, died at 1:55 pm, on Tuesday, May 2, at the Courtyard of Goshen. She was born on December 22, 1927, in Topeka, to Earl and Louella (Yoder) Lantz. On July 11, 1948 she married Edwin Bontrager; he died December 5, 1981, she later married Peter Lichti; he died February 16, 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Kathryn Thompson of New Paris, Glenda (Norm) Miller of Goshen; son, Larry (Karen) Bontrager of Topeka; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Betty Kauffman of Goshen, Mary Etta Morton of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, an infant son, two brothers, Harold and Kenneth Lantz. Dorothy was a member of Clinton Frame Church and had provided transportation for the Amish. She loved her flower garden, enjoyed crocheting, quilting and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday May 5, followed by an 11:00 am funeral service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury.
Services will be conducted by Pastors Matthew Yoder and Danny Yoder. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to Great Lakes Hospice.

Claudia R. "Rosie" Bouchez, 70, of Bluffton passed away on Thursday morning, May 18, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Bluffton. She was born on February 1, 1947 in Huntington, Indiana to Noble G. & Lucille O. (DeHaven) Pinkerton. She graduated from Huntington High School and worked at Johnson Control in Ossian for 10 years and retired from Pretzel's in Bluffton. She enjoyed watching movies, camping, fishing and spending time outdoors in her flower gardens. On October 30, 1999 in Bluffton, Claudia and Cliff M. Bouchez were married. She is survived by her husband Cliff of Bluffton along with two children Christopher (Kathi) Hawkins of East Peoria, IL and Stephanie (Kenneth) Kemper Webb of Kearneysville, W.V and 15 grandchildren. Claudia is also survived by siblings: Diane (Ron) Hutchison of Columbus, Ohio, Connie (Steve) Craw of Gas City and Susan Disler of Fremont, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Ross Alan Bowen, 73, of Monroeville passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at Summit City Rehab in Fort Wayne following an extended illness. He was born on August 8, 1943 in Monroeville, Indiana to the late Chester Bowen and the late Bonita (Barkley) Bowen. On October 25, 1964, he married Sally Hahn at the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur. Ross served his country in the Air National Guard, being stationed at the 122nd Tactical Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne for six years. Ross graduated from Monroeville High School in 1961. He was employed at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn for eight years; was a salesman for Ralston Purina in Northeast Indiana for 23 years; and a Parkview Hospital security officer for almost ten years. He was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville. Wanting to help his community, Ross volunteered his time for over 35 years with the Monroeville EMS. Ross loved his animals, specifically livestock; and he raised sheep, cattle, and hogs over his lifetime. His time spent with family, at work, with EMS, and raising his animals left him fulfilled in his life. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sally Bowen of Monroeville; three sons, Mark (Kimberly) Bowen of Monroeville; Eric (Michelle) Bowen of Decatur; and Gary Bowen of Hoagland; four grandchildren, Kecia (Tucker) Foote; Megan (Isaac) Kaehr; Paige (Cole BonVillian) Bowen; & Nathan Bowen; three great-grandchildren; Riley Foote; Addison Kaehr; & Leland Kaehr; two sisters, Ruby (Lester) Werling of Decatur & Ruth Ann (Richard) Hartmann of Ossian; two brothers, Rex (Addie) Bowen of Woodburn & Ronald (Pat) Bowen of Fort Wayne; and Sally's brother & sister, John (Joyce) Hahn of Monroeville & Deborah (Don) Shoup of Churubusco. Robert "Bob" Kenneth Clapper, 83, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born December 4, 1933 in Elwood, Indiana to the late, Roy and Elizabeth Clapper. Robert Retired as Branch Manager for Cummings Diesel in Fort Wayne after 47 years of service. Bob was a Navy veteran during the Korean War and a member of American legion 499 in Fort Wayne. He was also a member of the Elks Club 155, Moose 2276, Eagles 3752 and V.F.W. 8154 in Florida. He enjoyed taking cruises, traveling, boating, woodworking and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed winning a good old fashion game of cards or dominoes. Bob is survived by his children, Curtis Lee (Jan Pequignot) Clapper, Brian Kenneth (Susie) Clapper, Sr., 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and long-time companion, Sherry Perkins. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ruth Clapper, in 2006; and a son, Mark Allan Clapper, in 2000.

Michael Comstock, age 68, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home in rural Portland following an extended illness. Michael was born on January 9, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Kyler and Virginia (Chickadroff) Comstock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Michael owned and operated Comstock Motors and Comstock Car Care. He also worked at York Casket Company and Astral Casket Company in Lynn. He married Audrey Reff on June 29, 1979. William retired in 2005 from the Rock County Highway Dept. after 30 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War. NAPLES, Fla. - Carol A. (Clark) Creecy Snyder, 76, Naples, Florida, died April 7, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida, following a short illness. Mrs. Snyder was a retired school teacher who taught for Wabash City Schools and DeKalb Central United School District. She was a member of Jubilee Fellowship in Naples and First Christian Church in Auburn, Indiana. She was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Chicago. She married Floyd Clifford Creecy on May 25, 1979, and he died on June 19, 2004. On October 29, 2011, she married John F. Snyder, and he survives. Also surviving are her children, Donna M. (Tony) Pulley of Wabash, Indiana, David B. (Tina) Clark of Jacksonville, Pamela S. (Tim) Wappes of Hamilton, Indiana, Steven K. She graduated from Central High School in 1944. She married the love of her life in 1946 and quickly became a wonderful homemaker to her family. Her favorite past-time was spending time with her children and grandchildren. While her favorite hobbies were traveling with her husband and bowling. William Thomas Dahman, Sr., 79, passed May 6, 2017. Born in Ft. Wayne, IN he is the son of the late Helen Marie (Aubry) Dahman and John Austin Dahman. He left high school to join the Army and defend our Country during World War II. After leaving the Army he married his beloved Alice Louise (King) Dahman. He worked at International Harvester where he retired after 35 years. His favorite past-time was spending time with his children and grandchildren. While his favorite hobbies where his participation in the VFW (Veteran of Foreign Wars) and singing with his Barbershop Quartet.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Alice Louise (King) Dahman; his children Annette Wigge, William T Dahman Jr (Ann) and D. Michael Dahman (May). Melissa Sue (Gray) Darling, 45, of Rome City passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Parkview Regional Medical Center as the result of a motorcycle accident that occurred on Monday at U.S. 6 and County Road 19 near Corunna. She was born September 28, 1971, in Fort Wayne to Wilton and Myrlee (Sizemore) Gray. They survived in Rome City. On September 21, 2010, in Kendallville she married Jason Darling. He survives in Kendallville. She earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. She had worked at Kendallville Manor Nursing and Rehab in Kendallville, Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, and Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Melissa enjoyed music, singing, and playing the guitar. Being a creative person, she wrote poetry and music. But, most of all, she loved the water and being outside whether she was camping, fishing, or sitting around a bonfire. She was always thinking of and doing for others. Her last act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ donation. Also surviving are a daughter, Kelsey Parsons of Fort Wayne; a son, Brennen Parsons of Rome City; two brothers, Joel (Emilee Treesh) Gray of Rome City and Justin (Casey) Gray of Rome City; two stepdaughters; two nephews, Devyn Gray and Michael Gray; and numerous loving family members. She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Gray; a sister, Tina Gray; and her grandparents. Janice David, age 95, of Greentown, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Chandler Place in Kendallville, Indiana. Mrs. David was born on February 9, 1921 in Union Township in Howard County, Indiana to Carl and June (Fox) Bryant. She graduated from Union Township High School in 1939.
She married Doyle David on April 11, 1941 in Greentown. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2004 in Kokomo. She and Doyle lived their married life on the same farm that has been in the David family since 1874, while spending their winters in Bradenton, Florida. Mrs. David was a homemaker and helped run the family farm. She also worked at the Howard County News in Greentown from 1967 until she retired in 1980. She was a member of the Greentown First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Mary Ruth Circle and Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Union Township Home Demonstration Club. KENDALLVILLE - Eileen R. DePew, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at her home in Kendallville. She was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Kendallville, to the late Claude and Dorothy (Conrad) Kline. Eileen married John Harold DePew on May 20, 1949, and he passed away July 6, 2012. She worked for Flint and Walling in Kendallville for 20 years, retiring in 1990.
Eileen's greatest joy was the love of her family. Surviving are four children, Harold "Skip" DePew of Kendallville, Penny D. (Max) Powers of Kendallville, Tina M. Beckman of Kendallville and Kelly R. Bryant of Rome City; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ellen Lash of Kendallville. Born in Harrysmith, South Africa, Willem moved to the United States where he attended Southern Baptist University earning his Master's degree. He was an ordained pastor serving at several churches in Campbellsburg, IN, and Kendallville, IN. Willem also worked as a communications attache at the National Press Club in Ottawa, Canada, and later as a Psychotherapist with St. Joseph Hospital and the Northeastern Center in Kendallville, IN. Willem was a deeply spiritual person who loved spending time in nature and enjoying time with his many friends. Jeanette Donovan, 53, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Fort Wayne. She was passionate about family, her faith, teaching and her students, and Purdue University. Born in Indianapolis, Ind., Jeanette was a 1981 graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School, completed her Bachelor's degree from Purdue University, and two Master's degrees from IPFW. She was a proud educator in the Fort Wayne South Bend Diocese for over 30 years, starting at Sacred Heart in 1985, continuing as teacher and principal at Benoit Academy in 1997, and moving to St. Therese in 2008 where she assumed the role of principal for the current school year. She was also director of the St. Henry's Summer Clubhouse for the past seven years, and she was a board member for the Gardens of St. Henry. Surviving are her mother, Mary Helen Donovan of Fort Wayne; siblings, Mike Donovan of Fort Wayne, Margaret Donovan of Fort Wayne, Mary Kay Donovan of Fort Wayne, and Rick (Sabrina) Donovan of Fort Wayne; nieces Alixandria (Steven) Pelych and Madelyn Donovan; nephew Campbell Donovan; great-niece Gracelyn Pelych; extended family, lifelong friends, and countless students. He then worked for Vernon Schmidt Garage in Portland and enjoyed growing orchids in his retirement. He attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland and was a member of the Ft. Wayne Orchid Society and a longtime member of the Portland Lions Club. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. John Elwood was born May 14, 1926 in Cato, New York the son of Homer and Edith (Mann) Elwood. He was married in 1944 to Mabel Taflinger and she passed away in 2000. Amanda Funk, 95, of Millersburg, died at 1:38 pm, on Sunday, March 5, at her residence. She was born on November 1, 1921, in Hutchinson, KS, to Noah and Rosa (Schrock) Nisly. On June 15, 1952 in Hutchinson, KS she married Walter Funk; he died November 30, 1996. Surviving is a son, Harry (Margie) Funk of New Carlisle; two daughters, Marie (Ben) Whirledge and Betty Funk both of Millersburg; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca (Albert) Miller and Ella Nisly both of Partridge, KS; two brothers, Amos (Anne) Nisly of Hutchinson, KS and Moses (Mary) Nisly of Shreve, OH; a sister-in-law, Velma Plank of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Ruben Funk, grandson, Jason Funk, three brothers, Will, Abraham and Joe Nisly, two sisters, Lydia Yoder and Anna Raber. Amanda was a member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, of Millersburg. She was a volunteer at the World Missionary Press and a willing participant in numerous church activities. She was a lifelong example of what a Godly Christian woman could be, and also a wonderful, loving and energetic wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday March 7, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:30 am funeral service on Wednesday March 8, at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastor David Hathaway.

Betty Ann Funk, 53, of Millersburg, passed away at 8:53 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the home of her sister. She was born on August 26, 1963 in Hutchinson, KS to Walter and Amanda (Nisly) Funk. She is survived by a brother, Harry (Margie) Funk of New Carlisle; a sister, Marie (Ben) Whirledge of Millersburg; nieces, nephews, and cousins; aunts and uncles, including her Aunt, Ella Nisly of Hutchinson, KS who lived with Betty and her mother for the last ten years. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Funk on November 30, 1996, her mother, Amanda Funk on March 5, 2017, her brother Ruben Funk and nephew Jason Funk. Betty graduated from Brown County High School, Nashville, IN, was a member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church and was a volunteer at the World Missionary Press. She enjoyed her many books, studying genealogy, and spending time with family and friends. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm on Thursday, April 20 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00am funeral service on Friday, April 21 at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastor David Hathaway.

Michele Lee McCulloch Gaskill, 47, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 11, 2017. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN on February 6, 1970. Michele worked as a nurse for the past 20 years, and most recently acted as a traveling nurse. While traveling, her dog, Thor would always accompany her. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, and crocheting. She was a loving daughter, mother and grandmother, and could always be counted on for being there and taking care of the people she loved. Surviving are her children; Nathaniel "Nate", Alexis "Sis", and Lindsley "Bear" Gaskill; grandchildren, Corbin and Krystiana; parents, Greg and Terri McCulloch; siblings, Toni (Mark) Dailey, and Greg McCulloch, and many other beloved friends and family. Dale L. Gerber, 79, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his home in Fort Wayne. Born in Decatur, Indiana, Dale was the son of the late Fred and Kathryn Gerber. Dale served our country in the U.S. Army. He worked for Eckrich Meats and the Indiana State Developmental Center prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Living Church of God. He enjoyed riding his bike, exercising, playing basketball, along with spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Rozella Gerber of Fort Wayne; children, Annette (Joseph) Sauter, James (Lisa) Gerber both of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, Alyssa, Alexia, and Kathryn; siblings, Luella Schladenhauffen, Nancy (Keith) Honegger, Charles (Marilyn) Gerber, Shirley Fiechter all of Bluffton, and Roger (Eunice) Gerber of Paulding, OH. James D. Geyer, 69, of Shipshewana, died at 10:30 am on Monday, May 8, at his residence. He was born on January 19, 1948 in Goshen, to Richard and Betty (Wagner) Geyer. On August 24, 1985 at Stone Lake, he married Judy Zigler; she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are three daughters, Jessica Geyer of Holt, MI, Dalis (Joseph) Werner of Westville, Melissa Geyer of Charlotte, MI; son, Jim (Joyce) Geyer II of Constantine, MI; 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; his mother Betty of Goshen; two sisters, Janis (Terry) Nelson of Shipshewana, Jeri Lantz of Mishawaka; brother, Jay Geyer of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his father, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and grandmother, Mary Wagner. Jim was a second generation stock car driver for 25 years, racing all around the Michiana area. He was a fireman with the White Pigeon Fire Department for 31 years and enjoyed clowning for 20 years. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday May 13, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Nathan Bronemar and Chaplain Jimmy Loden, former chaplain of the White Pigeon Fire Department.

Frances E. (Troendly) Gibson, 95 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born on Monday, May 30, 1921 in Wayne Township, Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Francis W. Troendly and the late Louisa Jane (Gibbons) Troendly. She married Joseph W. Gibson on July 1, 1944 in Monroeville, Indiana and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1983. Frances was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville. She was a homemaker but also was employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 22 years, retiring in 1963. Frances was always seeking to stay in the background when helping others. She enjoyed creating thousands of rosaries for many years after her husband died. Through these rosaries, she was able to share her faith in her Lord and His Mother. Sewing was another hobby that she enjoyed and true to form, she provided many gifts to the Missions in Fort Wayne. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Minick of Woodburn, IN; son, Dr. Thomas J. Iris Joann Sauder Griggs, 88 yrs. old, former high school teacher and proud native of Grabill, Indiana left to be with the Lord, peacefully on the morning on May 18th. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Robert Easton Griggs. She is survived by step-daughters Janet Yarberry (Robin); and Sussan Falge (Robert).
Also, surviving her are five beloved siblings; 1 sister-in-law; three grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Her brother Joseph predeceased her.

Richard E. Grooms, Sr., 72, of Middlebury, died at 5:05 am on Thursday, May 11, at Elkhart Hospice House, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on May 15, 1944 in Greenfield, OH, to Everett and Pauline (Snyder) Grooms. On February 28, 1996 in Middlebury he married Maxine Sommers, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are daughter, Tessa (Dale Holloway) Shidler of Niles, MI; two sons, Richard Grooms, Jr. of Carterville, GA, Martin (Wendy) Grooms of Columbia City; step son, Jason (Stacey) Grooms of Granger; step daughter Aimee (Mike) Olson of Tucson, AZ; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Mike) Hagan of Englewood, FL; two brothers, Sam (Shirley) Grooms of Dallas, TX, Robert (Michelle) Grooms of Chillicothe, OH. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Heath Grooms; daughter, Nichole Lee Grooms; parents; brother, Roger Grooms. Richard was a sports fanatic, especially following the Colts and was a huge Ohio State fan. He enjoyed Golfing, working at home in his landscaping, gardening and yard. He served from 1962-1967 in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved spending time with his family. James Lloyd Hair, 60, was surrounded by loved ones his final days when his suffering ceased. On May 11, 2017, he went home to the Lord to begin a new life. Born March 7, 1957, to the late, August W. Hair and Bertie M. (Mull) Hair, was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne Indiana. He loved God his family and friends as well as living life. He was a member of Broadway Christian church for 24 years. James worked for Trelleborg for 38 years. James is survived by his wife, Arlene Hair; his goddaughter, Ashlee Hair; 2 brothers, Joe (Paulette) Hair and Johnny Hair; and 3 sisters, Glenda (Craig), Julie (David), Bobbie Jo (Brian); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. James was also preceded in death by 3 siblings, Princess Loretta Hair, Donald Hair, and Ricky Hair.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Broadway Christian Church, 910 Broadway Street, with calling two hours prior. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.

Murlin "Skinny" Wayne Hamrick, 71, Berne, died at 9:12pm Monday, May 15th, 2017 at Chalet Village Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 28th, 1945 in Wren, Ohio, the son of James and Ardella Kallenberger Hamrick. He married Linda S. Drake on January 6th, 1974. She survives. He retired from All American Homes in Decatur with over 20 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed driving his remote control car around the Chalet Village Campus. He was an avid NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr and enjoyed collecting NASCAR memorabilia. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. Other survivors are his three sons, Shawn (Kendra) Hamrick of Berne, Adam (Trina) Hamrick of Bluffton, Shane Hamrick of Decatur; one daughter Barbara (Michael) Wollum of Geneva; 11 grandchildren; a brother Chester Hamrick of Van Wert, Ohio; a sister Mrs. Kenneth (Gerrie) Everett of Decatur. Dorothy Ann Hoover, 92, passed Saturday, May 20, 2017. Born here in Fort Wayne on June 19, 1924, she was a daughter to the late, Frederick and Elizabeth (Schneider) Shull. She graduated from Central Catholic. Dorothy was a self taught seamstress, she had perfected her talent and was able to be the proud owner and operator of DA Hoovers Alterations and Dress Making. She also had work in the Real-estate industry for over 40 years. She was an avid bowler, winning many trophies. Dorothy married the love of her life, the late Harold Hoover, on October 10, 1947. Realizing they were not able to have children, they immediately filed for adoption papers, they waited 21 years for their children. She always said her children were worth the wait. She is survived by her children, Dan (Brenda) Hoover and Heidi (Mike) Smith both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Ben, Brock, Isaac, Mitchell, Zander, Zane and Jaxson. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Smith; siblings, Wanda Smock and Robert Shull. Corey Evan Jacobs, 10, of LaGrange died Monday, May 1, 2017, at 12:47 a.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born November 30, 2006, in Kendallville to Jonathan and Casey (Holliday) Jacobs. His parents survive in LaGrange. He was a fourth grade student at Meadowview Elementary School in Shipshewana. Corey loved to watch basketball. He liked red balls and Elmo, because red was his favorite color. Watching "Wheel of Fortune" and coloring were his favorite things to do. And, he loved giving kisses. He was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.
Also surviving are three sisters, Jazmyne Jacobs of LaGrange, Kennedy Jacobs, and Charleigh Jacobs both at home; four brothers, Trevor Jacobs of LaGrange, Trace Holliday, Jessie Jacobs, and Jon Jacobs all at home; maternal grandmother, Cathy Holliday of South Milford; maternal great-grandmother, Lorie Holliday of Rome City; maternal great-grandfather, Kent Garman of Avilla; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. William "Bill" Albert Keim, 77, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bill was the son of the late Raymond and Margaret Keim. He graduated from Central High School in 1957. He graduated in 1961 from Wabash College with a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. While there, he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He worked as an Associate Professor while studying for his master's degree at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. As a Physical Chemist, Bill worked at Pittsburgh Plate and Glass (PPG) in Barberton, Ohio, OM Scott and Sons, in Marysville, Ohio, Norac Chemical Company in Azusa, California and Helena, Arkansas. He was a partner in Keim Derma in Barberton, Ohio. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, National Fire Protection Agency, Organic Peroxide Producers Safety Division, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Past President of Kiwanis, Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America, YMCA Summer Camp Counselor both at Potawatomi and Fort Wayne. Bill enjoyed golf, basketball, boating, reading, movies, collecting wizard figurines, was an avid Harry Potter fan, cooking, playing cards, and games, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen Frances Kessel, 89, of Kendallville died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 3:40 a.m. in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville. She was born December 22, 1927, in Sampson County, North Carolina, to Dallie and Avaniel "Monk" (Green) Johnson. On February 28, 1947, in Wilmington, North Carolina, she married Harry Kessel. He preceded her in death in February, 2007. Mrs. Kessel had lived in this area since 1994, coming from Fort Wayne. She had worked at Covington Manor Nursing Home in Fort Wayne for ten years and was a homemaker. She attended the First Christian Church in Kendallville and was a member of the Anthony Wayne First Church of God in Fort Wayne. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and area quilting clubs. Helen enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts, and cake decorating. She dearly loved her dogs.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Larry) Wolf of Avilla; two sons, Edward G. (Margo) Kessel of Christmas, Michigan, and David (Rhonda) Kessel of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Justine Lee of North Carolina and Mary Dixie Ginn of Virginia; and three brothers, Ray Johnson of Raleigh, North Carolina, Donnie Johnson of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Marshall Johnson of Clinton, North Carolina. Clifford L. "Lavern" Kimmel, 87, of Hicksville, Ohio died Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon, Ohio. Mr. Kimmel was a lifetime farmer and also worked for National Ideal in Hicksville prior to working as a machine operator for the Dana Corp. in Auburn for over 23 years, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Newville Church of Christ. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 202 of Butler and was an active member and volunteer for the 4-H. He was born July 17, 1928, in Allen County to Clifford O. and Charlottie G. (Reed) Kimmel. He married M. Maxine Brunson on December 1, 1950, in Newville, and she survives in Hicksville. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Ann and Ernie Hurni of Hicksville, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick Lee and Kenda Kimmel of Spencerville; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Glenda J. and Jimmy Eck of Butler; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl W. and Joan Kimmel of Butler, and David L. and Mary Kimmel of Garrett. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Esther Myers; and three brothers, Robert H. Kimmel, Wayne E. Kimmel, and Richard Kimmel. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Newville Church of Christ, 5107 C.R. 75A, Butler, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. D.V. Dillinger will be officiating. She had moved to the United States when she was five years old. Dolores May (Gault) Lawson passed peacefully from this earth on May 3, 2017, surrounded by her family. Her 103 years, seven months, and 14 days were an example of indomitable will, determination, and faith in a loving God. Her formula for a long life and keeping a sharp mind was simple. "Keep busy and stay on your feet." Dolores was born September 19, 1913, to William Abraham and Ethyl Amber (Brubaker) Gault on a farm at the edge of Peterson a small village one mile south of Preble, Indiana in Adams County. She was the third of nine children. All her siblings preceded her in death. Dolores had three sons. Her eldest son, Jackie, passed away at age 5 from polio. She was baptized at nine-years-old and became a life-long member of the Wabash Church of the Brethren. Her unwavering faith and belief were her anchors. On a limited income, she lived a life of style and grace and saw both her sons graduate from college and receive advanced degrees. Dolores loved cooking and baking, gardening, and reading the Bible and other spiritual literature, but what she treasured most was caring for and spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Surviving are sons, Larry J. (Marcia), Indianapolis, Jerry M. (Marsi), Fort Wayne, four grandchildren, David (Adrienne), Indianapolis, Eric, Fort Wayne, Kurt, Santa Monica, CA, and Jennifer Lawson Williams (Justin), Nashville, TN and one great-granddaughter, Leela Ame'lie Williams. Donald H. Lehrman, 86, Monroeville, went to be with the Lord May 14, 2017. He was born in Allen County October 18, 1930 to the late Paul and Mabel (Schlemmer) Lehrman. He was united in Holy Matrimony with Janice S. Miller on January 14, 1951. Don was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church where he was Church Treasurer for over 40 years. He served in the United States Army in Germany and was a Veteran of the Korean War, being honorably discharged January 20, 1954. He retired from International Harvester in 1982 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #420 and was a charter member of V.F.W. Post #10205. Don loved God, his family, Yankees, and watching his "kids" play ball. He coached many teams and was baseball scorekeeper for the Heritage Patriots for many years. Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janice S. Lehrman of Monroeville; Dean (Janice) Lehrman of Hoagland; Lynn (Jeanne) Lehrman of Spencerville; Susan (Glenn) Watts of Decatur; Joni (Dale) Zeigler of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Joyce Hambrock of Fort Wayne; and Joella (Larry) Stephenson of Rockford, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his sister Noella Moore. He was born on July 21, 2011 in Topeka to Perry and Carolyn (Bontrager) Miller. Surviving in addition to his parents are two sisters, Carrie Miller and Carla Miller; three brothers, Seth Miller, Stanley Miller and Davey Miller all at home; two sets of grandparents, Wilbur and Edna Bontrager of Topeka, Howard and Lillian Miller of Goshen. Marla was a member of the Shipshewana United Methodist Church and involved in Trottingbred horse racing for over 20 years. She had worked for Wana Feeds in Shipshewana for over 23 years. Wilber O. Mishler, 92, of Shipshewana, died at 5:25 pm on Wednesday, January 11, at Millers Merry Manor in LaGrange, after a brief illness. He was born on October 10, 1924 in LaGrange, to George and Celestia (Miller) Mishler. On June 21, 1975 in LaGrange he married Ellen Schrock; she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dena Marie (Bob) Roush of Shipshewana, Denise (Glen) Nation of Estacada, OR; son, Douglas (Phyllis) Mishler of Topeka; four step sons, James Eugene Miller and Byron Dee (Kay) Miller both of Shipshewana, Myron Lee (Pam) Miller of White Pigeon, MI, Gary Lyn (Lisa) Miller of Warsaw; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Debra Kvernvik, sister, Marie Bontrager, brother, Glen Mishler, one great grandson and a granddaughter-in-law. Wilber drove school bus for Westview Schools for 27 years and also ran a daily hog market for P.B. Stewart in Topeka. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the Cubs baseball, the Bears football, I.U. basketball and bowling. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday January 15, at Shore Mennonite Church, 7235 W 100 N Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, January 16, also at the church.

Betty D. Morr, 95, of Kendallville died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 2:30 a.m. in the home of her son, James Morr on Royer Lake in LaGrange County. She was born April 6, 1922, in Palmer, Indiana, to William and Ruth Edith (Blue) Wray. On April 6, 1938, in Brimfield she married Robert E. Morr. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Morr was a homemaker. Betty enjoyed crocheting, and, whether she was fishing, mushroom hunting or enjoying the sunshine, she loved to be outdoors. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles "Chuck" and Sandra Morr of Cree Lake, James and Claudia Morr of Royer Lake, and Richard and Cheryl Morr of Lake of the Woods; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 43 great great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Kurtz; a grandson, Chuckie Morr; a great-granddaughter, Ayla Wray Morr; a great-grandson, Grant Kurtz; and two sisters, Bonnie Knafel and Dorcus Wray. Gabrielle Ann Nicole Patterson, age 10, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 8, 2017. Gabrielle was born on June 2, 2006 in Fort Wayne, IN. The Backyardigans, Disney Princesses, singing along with movies, and listening to her cousin, Miles play the piano were some of Gabrielle's favorite things. She was a fun loving, energetic little girl who was full of courage and perseverance, nothing could keep her down. Dorothy Mae Prince, 95, passed peacefully at home, Monday, May 1, 2017. Born April 11, 1922, in Zanesville, to the late Otto C. Graft and Minnie M. (Lopshire) Graft. Dorothy a hard worker never missing a day of school in her life was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dorothy is survived by her children, Dave Prince of Fort Wayne and Cheryl (Kim) Irmscher of Lagrange; sister, Margaret Keyser of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Jody Prince, Tammi (Thomas) Pappas, Adam and Matt (Kaitlin) Irmscher; and two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Mila. Richard F. Pulse, 68, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 in Fort Wayne. The first born of 6 to his parents in New Castle, IN, Richard was a lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, IN. Richard was in the first graduating class at Bishop Dwenger High School in 1967. He served in the US Air Force and was a Vietnam combat veteran. Professionally, he was the president and CEO of several businesses, including: Kendall and Davis Inc, Black Box, and Team PC which provided computers to veterans in need. He was an avid angler, hunter, and gatherer. He taught so many to love the natural world and, when fishing, to always, "keep a tight line." He was a true friend and mentor and left an impression on everyone he met, many of whom recall his electrifying smile. When the woods weren't calling him the open road was; his Harley Davidson was pure freedom for him and his riding brothers and friends. Many drinks can be toasted to that. He would often say that when it was his time, he would be, "coming in fast and sliding into the grave sideways - I don't plan on lookin' pretty." Richard loved his wife and children and spent time fishing and exploring life and the outdoors with each of them. MARTHA WORSTER QUINN, died Saturday, April 29, 2017. Born Feb. 16, 1928, she was the daughter to the late Robert and Florence Worster. She grew up in Bluffton and graduated from Bluffton High School in 1945. She received a BS from Ball State and a MS from University of St. Francis. She taught at elementary level at Emerson in Gary, Madison - Marion in Hoagland and at Maplewood in Waynedale. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Gensic, Beverly Miller and Molly Quinn; seven grandchildren, Robb, Chris, Kassia, Anthony, Jennifer, Brook, and Ian; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jack Quinn, in 2006; and brothers, Dick, Bob and Jim Worster.

Pamela Jane Repp, 62, of Middlebury, died at 9:45 pm, on Thursday, April 20, at her residence, after she fought the good fight with a lengthy health battle. She was born on July 25, 1954 in Detroit, MI, to Carl and June (Schweitzer) Reimel. On May 4, 1974 in Croswell, MI she married Timothy Repp; he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are three sons, Daniel (Miranda) Repp of Middlebury, James (Mandy) Repp of Toledo, OH, Christopher Repp of Pendleton; five grandchildren; three sisters, Julie (John) Sly of New Boston, MI, Nancy Jungquist of Avoca, MI, Catherine (David) Vallee of Croswell, MI; brother, Kurt Reimel of Port Sanilac, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pamela and Timothy had lived at their current residence in Middlebury for two and a half years where she enjoyed working on their home and property together with him. Pamela was a homemaker and volunteered at an elementary school and worked part-time at the library. She helped with Indiana Right to Life, enjoyed quilting and genealogy. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Monday April 24, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Spencer Mielke of Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Bristol. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Margaret worked at General Electric for 15 years, and retired in 1973. She loved to work in her yard, care for pets, and enjoyed drawing, but her passion in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and having fun. ANITA MARIE SAPP, 85, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Angola, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, in Fort Wayne. Born Nov. 15, 1921, in Garrett, she was the daughter of the late Clyde L. and Clara (Gritschke) Ervin. She was a homemaker and worked at Suttons Grocery, in Angola for 10 years, Scott's Grocery, in Angola and General Electric, in Fort Wayne. She was a member of Angola Christian Church and enjoyed bowling. She married Louis David Sapp in June of 1945; he preceded her in death in 1963. Surviving are one son, Kenneth James (Jodie L.) Sapp of Ashley; one daughter, Gloria (Robert L.) Draeger of Fort Wayne; one sister, Helen Pence of Bryan, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Glenn David Sapp, in 1995; and two brothers, Charles and Paul Ervin. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola. Barbra was a Registered Nurse and loving wife, mother and grandmother. A 1954 graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Barbra was a Surgical Nurse and assisted her husband in his dental practice and then set her career aside to raise their family. She was an active member of The Chapel and an avid seamstress and gardener. Ruby N. Shoemaker, 77, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017. Ruby was born on August 17, 1939, the daughter of the late Cecil Gerald "Johnny" and Edna Johnson. A graduate of the class of 1957 from Portland H.S. Ruby was the co-owner of Shoemaker Inc. where she worked actively with her husband for 30 years. She was always very involved with numerous church organizations, including the Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship. Ruby was a crafty woman, and enjoyed refinishing and upholstering furniture, and belonged to the local Antiquester's Club. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. More than anything, Ruby had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed being with her family and friends. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, John Shoemaker; children, Gena (Tim) Hamby, Lori (Tim) Slates, John (Angela) Shoemaker II, and Jeanine (Stacy) Johnson; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Lisa D. Shrock, 57, of Topeka, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, May 6. She was born on April 19, 1960 in Goshen, to Harold and Norma Jean (Voight) Weldy. On August 22, 1987 in Emma, she married LaMar L. Shrock, he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are daughter, Andrea (Courtney) Miller of Shipshewana; son, Austin Shrock of Topeka; father, Harold of Goshen; step mother, Arla of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Scott Weldy of Goshen, Todd (Heidi) Weldy of Elkhart; sister, Dianna Weldy of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean Weldy. Lisa thoroughly enjoyed living in the Topeka/Shipshewana/Emma area. She enjoyed vacations with the kids and later in life when she and LaMar were able to go together. Her pastimes included reading, cooking, baking, listening to classic rock, and flower gardening. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls. She enjoyed meeting people and getting to know them. She was a server at the Blue Gate Restaurant for 15 years, a job which she treasured. Since her kidney transplant in 2010, she had worked part-time at Yoder's Department Store. She immensely enjoyed babysitting Courtney and Andrea's foster children the last six months. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, May 8 and 1:00 - 5:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 9 at Emma Mennonite Church, 1900 South 600 West, Topeka. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 10 also at the church.

Norma E. (Hayward) Shultz, 93, of Kendallville and formerly of Wolcottville died Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 12 p.m. in her residence at The Chandler Place, Kendallville. She was born March 13, 1924, in Fort Wayne to Earl and Lula (Forst) Hayward and grew up in the Mt. Pisgah and Kendallville area. She graduated from Kendallville High School. On December 18, 1965, in Wolcottville she married Homer I. Shultz. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2011.
Mrs. Shultz, and her husband operated a family business, the Wolcottville Grain Company in Wolcottville for many years. Prior to that she was a bookkeeper for Steckley's Mill in Kendallville for 23 years. She was a member of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church, Professional Business Women's Association of Kendallville, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
When they were first married, Norma and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the country in his plane. Norma loved being outside raking leaves, shoveling snow, or just enjoying the sunshine. Surviving are, Sheryl Skinner of Wolcottville; sister-in-law, Miriam Shultz of Wolcottville; and two brothers-in-law, Walter Ibbotson of Lakewood, Colorado, and Daniel Troyer of LaGrange. She was very close to her brother, Donald Hayward, until he died in a plane crash during World War II. Ray married Beverly Jordan on June 15, 1974, in the Hudson United Brethren Church, and she survives in Auburn. He worked as a supervisor for the Messenger Corp. for over 47 years, retiring in 2000. Also surviving are a daughter, Pam (Richard Ashman) Uetrecht of Coldwater, Michigan; a grandson, Jonathon (Danielle) Uetrecht of Coldwater, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Ben Uetrecht and Bethany Uetrecht; and a sister, Betty (Earl) Dunn of Viper, Kentucky. Robert E. Strunk, Sr., 96, of Avilla died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 3:15 a.m. in Kendallville Manor in Kendallville. He was born October 27, 1920, in Minnesota to Harry and Martha (Hasert) Strunk. As a young child, his family moved to California. He served in the Army during World War II. In 1944, he moved to Indiana. On December 30, 1960, in Niles, Michigan, he married Lois L. Miller. She survives in Kendallville. Mr. Strunk worked at the Kendallville Foundry for 20 years. He retired after 12 years as a custodian at East Noble High School and the East Noble superintendent's office.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Kendallville and a life member of Kendallville VFW Post 2749. Robert enjoyed walking, fishing, camping, and going to church. He also loved to put together jigsaw puzzles, glue them together, and place them in frames. Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Jefferson of Kendallville and Loretta (Timothy) Boyd of Roachdale; three sons, Robert E. "Bob" (Valorie) Strunk, Jr. of Kendallville, Randy (Janet) Smith of LaGrange, and Kent Strunk of Wilton Manors, Florida; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Jones of Sacramento, California, and Goldie Wood of Los Angeles, California.

Lynda J. Tackett, 64, of Kendallville died Tuesday morning, February 14, 2008, at her residence with her family at her side. Mrs. Tackett was a homemaker. She attended Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon and Morning Star Old Regular Baptist Church in Belleville, Michigan. She was born March 10, 1943, in Bay City, Michigan, to Emmons G. and Josephine (Gillen) Miller. She married Walker Tackett in Virginia in 1968. Surviving are her husband Walker Tackett of Kendallville; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Walker J. Tackett of Richmond, Virginia, Emmons J. and Jessica Tackett of Powhatan, Virginia, and James L. Tackett of Kendallville; three daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia A. VanHoose and Anna F. Pack, both of Paintsville, Kentucky, and Elizabeth A. and Woody W. Mason of Rome City; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her father, Emmons G. Jack E. Thrush, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at his home in rural Auburn. Jack was born Nov. 26, 1931, in Auburn to Walter M. and Inez V. (Heitz) Thrush. He married Carolyn R. Schurr on March 21, 1952, in Huntertown, and she survives. Jack worked for the Dana Corporation in Auburn for 36 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Huntertown Masonic Lodge for over 52 years, the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite for over 60 years, and the National Rifle Association. Jack enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Also surviving two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas E. and Rebecca Thrush of Waterloo, and Timothy J. and Lisa Thrush of Waterloo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christina G. and Ray Ross of Auburn, and Jayne E. and Ray Scheumann of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Benbow, Erin Tuttle, Kathryn Foster, Megan Bettag, Carissa Ryan, Stefanie Christensen, Justin Scheumann and Rachel Swartz; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ambrose Thrush, Albert Thrush and Robert Thrush. There will be no services conducted.

Barbara Ellen Tribble, 59, of Middlebury, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes at 1:43 pm on Wednesday, April 12, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born on December 21, 1957 in LaGrange County, to Deldon and Clarabelle (Lower) Miller. On September 14, 1974 in Shipshewana she married Ed L. Tribble; he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband is a daughter, Carrie (Doug) Boyer of Middlebury; three sons, Ed II (Kyla) Tribble of Granger, Errin (Amy) Tribble of Bradenton, FL, Eric (Rachel) Tribble of Middlebury; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Cinndy (Guy) Fisher of Mount Joy, IA, Brenda Miller of Indianapolis, Shirleen (Vince) Desmarais of Venice, FL; brother, Brad (Missy) Miller of Venice, FL, and her parents in Venice, FL. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and attended many of their sporting and school activities. She loved spending time with family in Florida, enjoying the sun and beach. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 and 5:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, April 14, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Dennis James "Buzz" Vanhoozer, 60, of LaGrange died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 9 a.m. at the residence of his daughter, Carrie Vanhoozer in LaGrange following a lengthy illness. He was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Vanhoozer had worked at Mastercraft in LaGrange and had previously worked at Starcraft in Topeka, Redman in Topeka, and Viking in Middlebury. Buzz enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tying flies. He was born May 6, 1957, in Kendallville to Shirley Hamilton Vanhoozer and Ruby Hicks. On July 16, 1977, in Wolcottville, he married Shelby Jean Combs. She survives in LaGrange.

On January 19, 1956 in LaGrange County he married Martha Ellen Schrock; she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Darrel Weaver, brother, Wilbur Weaver. He was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Mrs. Weber was born in Garrett, Indiana on November 30, 1955 to the late Bennie and Dorothy (Handshoe) Conley. She graduated from East Noble High School in 1974 and married Nick Weber on June 30, 1974. Elizabeth was employed as a supervisor for about 20 years with TD Shea in Kendallville. Elizabeth enjoyed she loved being with her grandkids and her dogs. David H. Whetstone, 83, of Deltona, FL. formerly of Middlebury died at 4:50 pm on Monday, May 1, while in Hospice Care. He was born on January 6, 1934 in Elkhart to John Henry and Susie (Hostetler) Whetstone. On November 25, 1965 in Elkhart County he married Aletha Barbara Miller; she died May 12, 2012. Surviving are two daughters, Dorene Adams of Ft. Wayne, Anita (Wendell) Bradford of Deltona, FL; son, Brandt D. Whetstone of NV; two step daughters, Annette (Greg) Hubartt of Warsaw, Cherylee Wood of Ft. Wayne; nine grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Millie Whetstone of Middlebury; brother, John Henry Jr. (Goldie) Whetstone of Middlebury. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Fannie Hochstetler; four brothers Jonathon, Amos, Joe and Don Whetstone. David worked at area factories and was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Middlebury. He loved playing the harmonica to family and friends and making everyone smile. His favorite sons were playing and singing "You Are My Sunshine" and "Amazing Grace". He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 5, at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. James E. Williams, D.D.S., M.S., 69 died on Thursday, May 18, 2017. He was born on June 3, 1947 in Newport, AR and lived most of his childhood in Memphis, TN. In 1960 he moved with his family to the Chicago suburbs and then again in 1963 to Fort Wayne. He graduated from Northside High School in 1965 and then enrolled in a predental curriculum at IPFW. The following year he met Diane Simancek, a Michigan State University student who had transferred to the Dental Hygiene program at IPFW. They became engaged in 1968, the same year that Dr. Williams entered Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. Upon Diane's graduation in 1969 they were married. After graduating with honors in 1972 he was admitted to the post graduate program to specialize in orthodontics. Once Dr. Williams completed the program he returned to Fort Wayne in 1974 to start a private orthodontic practice in the southwest area of town. In 1996 Dr. Angela Becker joined him and they practiced as partners under the name Williams & Becker Orthodontic group. He was a member of Isaac Knapp District Dental Society, the Indiana Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Indiana Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontics, and the American Association of Orthodontics. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years , Diane, a daughter, Julie Herman of Fort Wayne and a son, Dr. Bryan Williams (Melissa) of Evergreen, CO. In addition, Dr. Williams is survived by 4 grandchildren, Jessica and Thomas Herman of Fort Wayne and Claire and Addisyn Williams of Evergreen, CO. He is also survived by sister in laws Amy and Margie Williams, both of Fort Wayne, nephew, Ross Williams of Chicago and niece, Chelsey Williams, from Fort Wayne. She has 5 grandchildren; Alyson, Keaton and Kaleb Wenger of Decatur, Indiana, Colson Woodworth of Ossian, Indiana and Ava Woodworth of Decatur, Indiana. She has 1 precious great granddaughter: Kinsleigh Wenger of Decatur, Indiana. Patricia graduated from Penn High School in 1966. She received her Beauticians license in Mishawaka Indiana. She worked as a QMA at Our Lady of the Angels St. Francis Convent, then moved to Decatur, Indiana in 1987. While working full-time and raising a family, Patricia obtained her degree as a Respiratory Therapist; a true testament to her ability to achieve anything. She began working at Adams Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 17 years and St. Joseph Hospital Fort Wayne, Indiana for 13 years. Faith as a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, Indiana was very important to her and her family which was evident by her involvement with her Parish. Patricia was a loving and kind Mother and cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She was one of the most kind-hearted and gracious woman you would ever meet. She didn't know a stranger and would give a helping hand to anyone who asked. She took pride in the many lives she saved through the love of her working hands. She was very well respected for her knowledge in respiratory therapy by her peers and doctors. Patricia was a constant advocate for friends and family members when they were ill. There was nothing more Patty enjoyed than being surrounded by her family and lifelong friends. Despite the fact she suffered many illnesses through her life, she accepted it and found joy in some of life simplest moments. One of these simple moments being, her love for Notre Dame Football. She volunteered for years as an usher at the stadium during home football games. Patty will be dearly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April, 19, 2017, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling 1 hour prior from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in the St. Mary's Parish Hall. Officiating will be Fr. Bob J. Lengerich.

Lucinda Rose Woolley, 55, of Syracuse, died at 11:07 am, on Saturday, April 8, at her residence. She was born on August 16, 1961, in Elkhart County, to William R. and Rosealene (Metzler) Long. Surviving is two daughters, Talya Miller and Adria Kupeerus both of New Paris; two sons, Brian Miller of LaGrange, Cortney Miller of Wolcottville; nine grandchildren; Alyssa Miller, Keon Miller, Hailey Miller, Dalton McKibbin, Gavin McKibbin, Paizlee Carpenter, Lexin Kupeerus, Xander Kupeerus, Memphis Kupeerus; her mother Rosealene Long of Middlebury, brother, Charles Long of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Richard M. Long. Lucy enjoyed cooking for others, sunsets and living by the water. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Some people recognized her by the name "Desi". Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday April 18, followed by a 7:00 pm memorial service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. A private burial, at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury, will take place prior to the service.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Harlan Steffen of Syracuse. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Boat-in Worship Service of Syracuse.

John William Yoder, 67, died of multiple myeloma at 11:08 am on Thursday May 11, in Middlebury, following an illness of two and a half years. Mr. Yoder was born in Goshen on February 5, 1950, to William and Alma (Kauffman) Yoder. He graduated from Bethany Christian High School in 1968 and attended Goshen College. A lifelong resident of Middlebury, he was a truck driver, a MAC Tools distributor, owner of Ocelot Priority Logistics, and most recently, an account manager for PAI/AIT. He married Karen Litwiller on June 28, 1975, in Bristol. She survives along with three sons, Garth (Cathy Holmes) Yoder of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Spencer (Lindsey) Yoder of Ladera Ranch, Calif., and Preston Yoder of Ft. Wayne. Also surviving are his siblings, Marion (Wanda) Yoder, Charles (Judy) Yoder, Alice (Dennis) Risser, all of Goshen, and Nancy (Cloyce) Nofziger of Archbold, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brother Frederick in 1956, his mother in 1992, and his father in 1998. A devoted husband and father, John loved to travel, play cards, and socialize with relatives and close friends. He especially enjoyed researching Yoder genealogy and assisted with the publication of a Yoder newsletter for 25 years.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 15 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Memorials may be made to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.

Luella N. Yoder, 75, of Middlebury, died at 8:43 pm on Sunday, April 30, at her residence. She was born on June 30, 1941 in LaGrange County to Noah and Lena (Eash) Bontrager. On October 7, 1965 in LaGrange County she married Lloyd Yoder, he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are four sons, Leon (Susan) Yoder and Lavon (Kathryn) Yoder both of Middlebury, L. Dean (SuEtta) Yoder of Topeka, Lyle (Vonda) Yoder of Wakarusa; a daughter, LaVerda Jean (Mervin) Stoltzfus of Middlebury; 18 grandchildren; a sister, Mary (David) Schmucker of Shipshewana; three brothers, Samuel (Esther) Bontrager of Middlebury, Daniel (Susie) Bontrager of Topeka, John (Esther) Bontrager of Canton, OH; a sister-in-law, Mary Bontrager of Millersburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Perry Bontrager. Luella was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2, and all day Wednesday, May 3, at the family's residence, 60096 CR 41 Middlebury. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, May 4, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Alvin Hershberger and the home ministers.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury is in charge of arrangements.

Hannah Frankenstein Zacher passed away peacefully on February 22, 2017. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 12, 1929, Hannah was the daughter of Solly K. and Julia Frankenstein. She was a graduate of North Side High School, earned an undergraduate degree from Rippon College, and received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Columbia University. Hannah also received a graduate certificate in Gerontology from the University of Michigan. Hannah returned to Fort Wayne after graduating from Columbia in 1955 to marry Alfred Zacher. Hannah worked as a social worker at Family and Children's Service; Created Elder Peer Counseling, a volunteer program to assist seniors; had a private practice in geriatric social work and was a volunteer social worker with Catholic Charities. She was active in the American Association of University Women and was a member of the Indiana State Board of the League of Women Voters where she served as the Treasurer. Hannah was a long time board member of Family and Children's Service and the American Red Cross. She served as Chair of the Neighborhood Division of United Way and as Chair of the Women's Division of The Fine Arts Festival and was a past President of the Achduth Vesholom Sisterhood. In addition, Hannah also served on the board of the Alumni Association of the Columbia University School of Social Work. Hannah enjoyed gardening, swimming, playing bridge, and her investment club. Hannah and Al (Alfred) were married at the home of Hannah's parents 61 years ago on October 23, 1955. They enjoyed attending Philharmonic concerts in Fort Wayne and in Naples, Florida. The two of them loved to travel both in the States and abroad where they enjoyed the art, history, food, and flavors of the many places they visited. Hannah is survived by her husband Alfred, daughter, Marie Warshauer, Indianapolis. Son Steven Zacher (Judy) Fort Wayne, Grandsons, Michael Warshauer, Andrew Warshauer, Daniel Warshauer, Adam Zacher, Joshua Zacher, Theo Zacher. She was preceded in death by her son in law David Warshauer, brothers, Lester and Bernard Frankenstein. The Funeral will be Friday 2 PM at Congregation Achduth Vesholom, 5200 Old Mill Road with burial to follow at Lindenwood Cemetery. HAMILTON LAKE - Philip L. Zimmerman, 74, of Hamilton Lake passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born Aug.15, 1941, in Wawaka to Gerald and Madeline (Hart) Zimmerman, and they preceded him in death. Phil was a 1959 graduate of Rome City High School and went on to study at Indiana Business College in Fort Wayne. He married Beverly A. Mohr on March 30, 1963, in Van Wert County, Ohio, and she survives. Phil worked as product manager for Group Dekko in Kendallville for over 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Hamilton Fish and Game Club in Hamilton. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lauren L. and Alan C. Moyer of Fort Wayne; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff A. and Nichole L. Zimmerman of Auburn; six grandchildren, Brittany A. (Darrin) Taylor of Hamilton, Jamie L. Zimmerman of Fort Wayne; Madison L. Price of Ney, Ohio, Allison R. Moyer of Fort Wayne, Cade A. Zimmerman of Auburn, and Jeffrey M. Moyer of Fort Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Lucas D. Taylor and Kinsley A. Taylor; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles Daniel and Rita Zimmerman of Fort Wayne; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and David Kloepper of Berne. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
