Sarah A. (Steele) Gibson

Sarah A. Steele was born in Bedford Co., Pa., Jan. 12th, 1826 and departed this life Jan. 5th at the ripe old age of 80 years, 11 months and 26 days. At an early age her parents moved to Ashland Co., O., and later to Adams Co., Ind., southwest of Decatur. On April 30th, 1850, Miss Steele was married to John Gault, and the young people located near Massillion. To this union were born three sons, two of whom are still living and present to pay their last tribute of affection. May 10th, 1854, the strong ties of affection were broken by the death of her husband, John Gault. Feb. 27th, 1855, she was married to Samuel A. Gibson, and located in Madison township, where most of her years were spent. To this union were born 2 sons and 1 daughter, of whom one son survives to cherish her memory in a grateful heart. Samuel Gibson died on March 3rd, 1880 and her heart was again made desolate and lonely. About eight years ago she took up her abode in Monroeville where the long and useful life came peacefully and honorably to its close. Besides her children, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and 11 grandchildren are left to mourn her departure. She and her first husband united with the Presbyterian church 1 1/2 miles east of Massillion. After this church disbanded, she united with the Lutheran church at Massillion and when she moved to Monroeville transferred her membership to this church. She was diligent in training her children in the christian religion, and she was a devoted and self-sacrificing mother. She was a quiet and pleasant neighbor and never spoke ill of anyone. It will be seen by this sketch that she was called to pass through many sorrows but the Lord was with her in them all and evidently sanctified them to her good. With a heavenly light now upon the page of life she is able to look back and see how the pillar of cloud and pillar of fire has led her through it all. The funeral services were held last Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church and were conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. A. West and interment at the Massillion cemetery.

Shannon K. (Lee) Jogi

SHANNON K. (LEE) JOGI, 33, of Livonia Mich., passed away at her parent's home in Fort Wayne on Friday, June 02, 2006. She was a graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School, attended the Art Institute of Chicago, Indiana University Purdue University at Fort Wayne (IPFW), and was a graduate of the University of Saint Francis, receiving her degree in Nursing. "When she left this earth for her heavenly home, she was held in the arms of her beloved husband, Santhosh, and was surrounded by her loving family and friends". She fought a four-and-a-half year battle against ovarian cancer with unparalleled bravery. Her passion for living inspired all who encountered this beautiful, generous and loving woman during her courageous fight for life. She received the most wonderful care from her physician, Dr. Greg Sutton, his staff, and the oncology unit at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a gifted homemaker, artist, cook, and gardener with exquisite taste and style and an eye for all things beautiful. She had many interest especially in cuisine, music, fashion, history and travel, among many other things. She loved to delight friends and family with her culinary skills and flair for entertaining.
