Connie Borland, 70, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Connie began her life journey on August 24, 1946. Connie graduated from Franklin High School on June 10, 1964. Connie worked at Joy Manufacturing until she got married to Walter Gregory Borland. They were married on April 8, 1967 and stayed happily married for these past 50 years. Connie was a fantastic mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to everybody that knew her. She would even strike up conversations with complete strangers anytime, anywhere; so like her grandson Nathan used to say, "she's back at it again." Connie had a great attitude and never let anything get her down, or at least she didn't show it. Connie survived breast cancer, open heart surgery, and other various health concerns over these past five years, but never complained about any of it. Matter of fact, playing Words with Friends online was one of her favorite past-times, and even though she would lose about 90% of the time, she still had 10 games in progress. Connie loved playing Bridge throughout the week and enjoyed the lifetime connections she made along the way. She loved being with her family and cherished every moment she could provide a helping hand to her kids and grandkids, even though at times she would get frustrated, but once again, never complained about being our superhero, no matter how old we were. Even when Connie wasn't feeling healthy, she would still try to cook and clean as much as she could instead of resting. Connie will be forever missed, but never forgotten. Heaven may have gained another angel today, but in our book she was already one. Connie was the best mom, wife, grandmother, and friend anybody could ask for, so rest in peace until our family is reunited up above. Our family knows that you will be looking down and checking in on us from time to time. Connie was preceded in death by father, Ron Butler; mother, Beatrice Butler; and brother, Tim Butler. Connie is survived by her husband, Walter Gregory Borland; daughter, Michele Croft; son's Scott, Shawn, and Jeffrey Borland; grandkids, Brooke and Ryan Croft, Jacob and Nathaniel Borland; and brother, Mark Butler. Loree E. (Stanski) Sutto Clevenger, 79 - not 80 yet, she informed you, in case you made that mistake - died July 25, 2017 surrounded by family after a brief decline and a long fought battle with her twin nemesis, arthritis and anxiety. She was preceded in death by her brother, Loren (Barbara) Stanski and parents; Stanley and Wanda (Hooker) Stanski. She grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, graduating from Central High School. She was a generous nurturer and loved unconditionally. Though such rare traits to sustain, they came easily to her. She had four children; Mark Sutto, Melody (Stephen) Gordon, Michelle (Tim) Jackson, and Marla (Jeff) Wolf. She took on the task of supporting and raising a 10, 9, and two 5 year olds by herself, giving the best that she could. She fought like hell to raise them as happy, healthy children who believed that they could be or do ANYTHING. Her determination in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds was something to behold. Her enjoyment in reading historical novels, watching the Hoosiers and the Colts, drinking White Wine, babying her dogs, going to the lake or pool, playing Euchre, playing slots and yelling at Republicans on TV, helped along the way. Fortunately, her job with Indiana government led to a date with the second man who stole her heart. She married Robert "Bob" Clevenger on March 21, 1993. They lived happily together for 5 years going on regular trips to Las Vegas (Baby!) They struggled together for 2 years to beat his cancer until it took him away. The joys of her life are six grandchildren, Carl, Jamie, Sabrina, Tiffany, Zachary and Douglas and two great-grandchildren, Trevan and Oliver. She loved attending sporting events, music recitals, plays or any school activity they were involved in. She glowed with her love for them and them for her. Her children and grandchildren would have loved to throw her an 80th birthday party. Another get together will have to suffice, but it is a poor substitute. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers (she was horribly allergic) please make a donation to the charity of your choice. She liked charities that helped children, single moms, and animals.

July 2, 1927 - August 4, 2017
Born on July 2, 1927 in Seymour, IN, Mary Lou was the third of four children born to the late Grover and Minnie Marquette. The family moved to Indianapolis when Mary Lou was very young, and there she graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1945 and subsequently obtained a secretarial position. In 1948 she met a young man at church who was home on leave from the Air Force, and a romance began. Mary Lou and Leland were married the next year on October 1, 1949 soon after he was discharged. Leland then began studying for his Electrical Engineering degree at Purdue University, and Mary Lou earned her PHT ("putting hubby thru") at the same institution. After graduating from Purdue, Mary Lou and Lee moved to Indianapolis where she continued working as a secretary. After almost 7 years of marriage, their first child, Sarajean, was born in 1956, and Mary Lou''s working days were over. Nancy followed in 1958, and then Steve in 1961. In 1964, Lee accepted a new position in Ft. Wayne, and the family was on the move. In Ft. Wayne, they purchased a house at 3118 Stardale Drive and lived there for 54 years. Even though she stayed home with the kids, Mary Lou was never still. She was always volunteering to be president of organizations such as the PTA and the church women''s missionary society. She was a member of a bowling team, a bridge club, the Southmoor Singers, and even had a job delivering papers to the local "paper boys." Mary Lou and Lee joined First Baptist Church soon after arriving in Ft Wayne, and remained active in the church for about 50 years. She served the church in many different positions, attended and led Bible studies, and was a staple in the church choir. She and Lee also sang many duets there and even enticed all three kids to join them on several occasions. She really loved singing and listening to music, especially the Gathers. In an effort to travel and see the country, Mary Lou agreed to go camping. However, she drew the line at living in a tent, so a pop-up trailer was purchased. From that they moved up to a 17-foot trailer, and then (after the kids were all gone) to a 32-foot trailer that they also used to escape the snowy winters. With their trailers, the family travelled all over the country, and spent most summer weekends at local campgrounds. In addition to camping, Mary Lou also became Lee''s fishing partner. At first she drew the line at baiting her own hook and taking off the fish she caught, but later on became accomplished at doing both. She didn''t always like getting up in the wee hours of the morning to get to the lake, but she was a good sport about it. Now in addition to pulling a trailer, they pulled a boat trailer as well. It was quite a sight going down the road to the campground (car then trailer then boat). Soon after Lee retired, they decided to escape the winter cold and snow, and towed their trailer down to the southern part of Texas. They''d stay there from January thru March and come back when it started to warm up here. They did this for almost 20 years and made many friends in the campground down there. The thing that Mary Lou loved the most was her family and her extended family. She even took it upon herself to try to call everyone each week to stay in touch and to let each person know what everyone else was doing. She did this not only for her side of the family, but also for Lee''s relatives. Family was always very important to her. The family now will really miss this vibrant little lady. She lived a long and good life, and we will always remember her. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Saturday at Fort Wayne Baptist Church, 2323 Fairfield Ave. with calling 1 hour prior to the service. Calling hours will also be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd.
Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fort Wayne Baptist Memorial Foundation.

Dec. 30, 1927 - July 18, 2008
MATTAWAN, Mich. — Beloved, wife, mother and friend Birdie F. Noffsinger went to eternal rest with her Lord on July 18, 2008. Born Dec. 30, 1927, in Parker, Ariz. she was the daughter of Neely and Myrtle George, the third of five children. She attended school in Parker and then completed high school in Redding, Calif. She married Clyde B. Smith in 1946. As a mother of three young sons, she experienced one of life’s unexpected challenges as Clyde died of cancer in 1953. She moved to Defiance, Ohio, with her three sons, to live with Clyde’s parents, and it was there while attending the Church of God that she met Don Noffsinger. Birdie and Don were married May 21, 1955, and enjoyed 53 years of marriage. She mothered an additional son with Don, prior to suffering a later miscarriage. Aside from her joy as a mother, while Birdie and Don were living in San Diego, Calif., she attended San Diego Junior College, earning her degree in nursing. She worked as a medical LPN at Community Hospital in Anderson, Ind. She left nursing in 1973 to devote more time with Don as he served as president of Warner Press Inc. in Anderson. She then returned to college to pursue her talents in art, receiving her bachelor of arts degree from Anderson University in 1978, the same year her youngest son, Mark graduated from college. She then served as director of the Art Gallery for Anderson University. Birdie and Don moved to Kalamazoo, Mich., in 1993 for retirement near their son Mark and his family. Birdie did not think of retirement as time to rest; rather, she sought opportunities to serve her Lord and be involved in His teachings. She taught Sunday school at Westwood Church of God, was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, and was founder and leader of the Stephen Ministry Program, both in Anderson and at Westwood. She found great joy and satisfaction in sharing with others, the love of her Lord, Jesus Christ. Birdie fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease over the past 10 years. Even though many areas of her mind did not function, she never lost sight of her saving grace and salvation in Christ. Birdie leaves behind her husband, Don; four sons, Gregory L. (Karen) Smith of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Ronald D. (Pam) Smith of Anderson, Ind., Randall G. (Cindy) Smith of Westfield, Ind., and Dr. Mark A.
