Several years ago a woman named Rebecca Dick applied for admission to the Wabash county infirmary, she having neither friends nor means of support. Recently she died and a young man claiming to be her step son appeared and asked for documentary proof of her death. This was furnished.
It has since transpired that he had the old woman's life [insurance from] an Ohio graveyard company for $1000 and has doubtless already secured the money.

Dr. Peters returned from Peru last night. He reports that the case is attracting a great deal of attention and promises to become second only an importance to the Pettit case. The Peru Journal of yesterday says: "Coroner E. J. Jamison expects to receive the report of Dr. W. H. Peters, of Lafayette, this evening or tomorrow morning, and regard to the analysis of the vitals of the late Jacob Eberle, which he secured last week and which was mentioned in the previous issue of the journal. Mr. Jamison was some time ago ordered to hold a postmortem examination of the body of the deceased Eberle and have an analysis of his stomach made, through the efforts of the sons of the deceased, who suspected his death had resulted from poison, and to wish to satisfy themselves on that point. The assistance of Dr. Peters, who is an excellent chemist, was secured, and his analysis has been in progress for several days past. As he has been working under the instructions of the coroner,
he will inconsequent send his report immediately to him, when it will be filed in the county clerk's office and from then made public. [Rest of article missing]

Les never saw a baby or an animal that didn't delight him. Despite his favorite joke - when he was asked "how are you?" he would invariably reply "tired and irritable" - in truth, he was cheerful, generous with hugs, and ready to do most anything Pat suggested. Les and Pat both enjoyed their many friends at the First Presbyterian Church of Granbury and particularly liked the dances and trips made with the Granbury Senior Circle. Although their travels took them worldwide, Les's favorite destinations were to his Geneva School reunions and to the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, where he and Pat spent many happy summers together.
A memorial service will be held locally at a later date. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Granbury or Granbury Senior Circle.
