Robert D. Clark, Jr. passed away on November 4, 2019. Bob, as he is known to his family and countless friends, lived by a simple maxim: to bring a smile to someone's face every single day. On most days, Bob surpassed this goal dozens of times over, often encountering someone for the first time only to leave with a newfound friend, and always treating every human interaction as an opportunity to spread joy.
Bob was born on November 17, 1938 to Elaine M Clark and Robert D Clark, Sr. in Flushing, NY. He grew up in Hammond, Indiana. When he was not playing baseball and hanging out with his friends, Bob looked after his little sister Karen Hammel, of Lakewood, CO, whom he always adored. Bob attended Butler University, graduating in 1961. While at Butler, Bob was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He cherished his fraternity brothers and memories of their hijinks, most of which will remain unspoken. After college, Bob served his country in the US Air Force achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. Bob married Judy A Aubrey and had two children, Kenneth (Micki) Clark, of Groton, CT, and Kyle (Stephanie) Clark, of Brownsburg, IN. He lived in Logansport, IN for 20 years, working first as a regional director for the Boy Scouts of America and then as an insurance agent for Northwestern Mutual Life. Throughout Bob's professional life, he always put his clients first. Bob remarried to the love of his life, Theodora (Teddy) Merritt Bray of Clemson, SC, and became a second father to her sons Bray (Leyla) Becker of Oak Hill, VA, Merritt (Jill) Becker of Culver, IN, and Ted (Karen) Becker of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and one deceased. Bob's knack for whimsy and adventure have been a blessing to all who have known him, but are a special source of delight from his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who remember going on guided walks on the "fairy trail", finding cryptic notes from the house troll, sledding in New Hampshire, baking (and eating!) the best cookies anywhere, making milkshakes, solving logic puzzles, eating cheese toasties, singing silly songs, planting flowers, making breakfast for everyone in the ubiquitous electric skillet, and most of all, learning to fish. Bob's greatest passion was fishing. As he said, he would never miss an opportunity to wet a line wherever there was water, frozen or liquid. For 30 years, he annually gathered up his closest friends and family to travel to the North Star Lodge in Ontario, Canada, where there was no phone or electricity, but plenty of fishing and camaraderie. In between the annual trips, Bob fished every lake, pond, river, and stream he could find with friends, grandkids, or sometimes just alone with the tranquility of the water. In retirement, Bob was quick to volunteer anywhere he felt he could bring joy and comfort, including the Episcopal Church, community centers, and hospice. He never missed an opportunity to express to others how blessed he was. Bob's family would like to invite those whose lives he touched to celebrate Bob at a memorial service at Christ the King Episcopal Church (1224 N Jefferson St, Huntington IN) on Saturday, November 23. Visitation with family will be at 10 am with the service starting at 11 am.
Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice.

Guy Bates Ferry, 75, passed away January 20, 2019. He was born in Detroit, the second child of Seneca and Audrey Ferry, and moved to Fort Wayne with his family in 1950. At a very young age while in Detroit, Guy developed measles, brain swelling followed, then fever and convulsions during one anxious night at home. Medicine was different then, and his condition was not treated as an extreme emergency. Years later, when he had obvious difficulty acquiring speech skills, a specialist diagnosed the brain damage done on that single night that would delineate Guy's entire life. As a boy and young man, Guy was a familiar figure in his neighborhood, likeable but mercurial and troublesome, sometimes ridiculed and excluded. The roots of his behavior were a well-kept secret, Guy's parents were of a generation that kept intellectual shortcomings within the family - it was "none of anybody's business." Acceptance of disability - like medicine - has changed. Guy attended Washington Elementary and Central High Schools, always a bit too advanced for special education but not capable of keeping up in traditional classes. Scholastic frustration segued to vocational frustration, culminating in a 4-year commitment to Richmond State Hospital for anger and behavioral issues. After his release, a lawyer was finally able to convince a court to recognize his limitations and secure appropriate benefits.
Guy loved life, loved people, loved to laugh. He loved hockey, shooting hoops with his Dad and water skiing (he was much younger then). He loved TV westerns, morning coffee while enfolded in his recliner, and most especially he loved to eat. He was a terrible housekeeper and a careless dresser, but he was befriended by people miles ahead of him intellectually because he was funny and sociable and fun to be around when he was in a good mood. When he wasn't, people learned to retreat and take cover, it would blow over soon enough. Sometime during the weekend of January 19, Guy was overtaken by a stew of illnesses and died in his beloved apartment. He is survived by a sister, Cari Taylor Carlson of Milwaukee, and a brother Bruce of Newburgh NY and Hersey MI. The family will never find appropriate words to thank the staffs of Park Center of Fort Wayne and New Horizons Home Health Services of New Haven for providing years of virtual parenting to Guy. His case managers at Park Center were his beacons for three decades. He could be difficult, but his advisors and caregivers knew his heart and endured his tantrums. Without their professionalism, guidance and caring he would have been swallowed by the maze of life long ago. A memorial service will be held in the spring in much better weather, an announcement will be made when plans are finalized.
Preferred memorials are anonymous, random acts of kindness toward disabled persons, the aging, the lonely.

They spent some time living in Colorado before settling in Fort Wayne, Indiana where Mike attended Central Catholic High School. As the owner and operator of MF Electric, Mike's dedication to his craft and his strong work ethic left him highly regarded by his colleagues. Other contractors, suppliers and customers became close friends and Mike's reputation as an honest businessman proceeded him always. Mike enjoyed using his skills as an electrician to help out in the community as well. Every summer, for over a decade, he would organize groups of volunteers to get the electrical services hooked up for the Junk Food Alley and Beer Tent events for the Three Rivers Festival. Another large undertaking that he so enjoyed was setting up the electrical for the Fort Wayne New Car Dealer's Association tent sale at the War Memorial Coliseum.
While he took great pleasure in his work, Mike also knew how to kick back and enjoy all that life had to offer. He was a member of the American Legion 241 in Waynedale and FOE 248 on Bluffton Rd. The holiday and live music events were some of his favorites to attend. Mike shared an easy smile with everyone and took great pleasure in visiting with friends and family. Mike spent years of seasonal camping at Manapogo Campground in Orland, IN. There was a close knit group of friends that camped there together every year. Those lifelong friends remain, to this day, as close as family. Mike always enjoyed having a good time at the Sports Club on Ardmore Ave. He so loved polka and waltz music, as it was part of his heritage, and there was never a shortage of good music at the club for him to dance to.
In his younger years, Mike was quite the clothes horse. He sported western wear, often times wearing western cut suits, bolo ties and cowboy boots. One of his favorite hobbies was watching old western TV programs and movies. Mike enjoyed the lake life as well, with his lake cottage on Irish Lake in Barbee Estates. It was there that he could relax, but more often than not, he was always finding projects to work on. He created a beautiful lake side oasis with a sprawling deck and a beautiful three season room that was often filled with family and friends. Mike loved taking people out on his pontoon, to give them tours of the lake and showing them the sights. Later in life, when Mike semi-retired, he and his wife Carol built a beautiful home on Kuhn lake in Pierceton and moved to the lake full time, returning to the Wayndale area of Fort Wayne in 2008. After the return to Waynedale, Mike's friendships with old friends and new were strengthened and rekindled. He started just about every day down at the Waynedale Cafe where he would eat his strawberry crepes and hang out with his "cronies." He was rarely spotted leaving the cafe without his to-go cup of coffee. Mike was proceeded in death by his first wife, Virginia, the mother of his oldest three children, Michael (Elaine) Fink, Adam (Tracey) Fink and Jenni (Ronnie) Hoskins all of Fort Wayne. Mike is also survived by his second wife of 44 years, Carol (Hageman) Fink; and their son Todd (Jennifer) Fink, also of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Amber Larkin, Josh Fink, Cody (Allison) Fink, Riley Fink, Angel Fink, Ronnica (Jason) Hoskins, Marisha (James) Hoskins and Robert Fink; and several great grand children as well; siblings, Adam (Penny) Fink, Ele (Steve) Campbell and Margaret (Steve) Schenkel.
