She was a homemaker and volunteered in the Lutheran Hospital Gift Shop for 30 years and was secretary to the Chaplain. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was Past President of Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Vernon J.; sons, David J. Adams of Penn Valley, Calif. and Dale R. Adams of Gualala, Calif.; and brother, E. James Morton of Washington, D.C. The brother of Mrs. Shawn (Michele) Gearheart of Montpelier, Robert Cory Atkinson, 35, Hartford City, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Hartford City. Born in Sarasota, Fla. on June 6, 1970, he was a 1988 graduate of Blackford County High School and attended Ivy Tech. He was a painter and attended Hartford City Wesleyan Church.
Other survivors include his parents, Robert and Daphne Atkinson of Hartford City; two sons, Kaleb and James Atkinson of Oakdale, Tenn.; and another sister, Mrs. David (Heather) Overmyer of Fort Wayne. Services will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the Keplinger Funeral Home in Hartford City. Calling hours are Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. The cremains will be interred in the Atkinson Family lot at the Hartford City Cemetery.

Grace Bartram, 83, of rural Warren, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, July 22, at United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren. Mrs. Bartram was a homemaker. She graduated in 1940 from Howard Twp. School in Kokomo. In 1948, she graduated from Huntington College with an associate degree in business. She attended Warren Church of Christ. Born Feb. 16, 1922, in Primate Saskatchewan, Canada, her marriage on April 17, 1949, in Indianapolis was to H. Bernard Bartram, who survives in Warren. Additional survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Terry (Diane) Reed of Indianapolis, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Moffitt, and a brother, Lester Harlow. There are no calling hours and there will be a private family service at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion with the Rev. Darren Cushman Wood officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory.

WEST POINT - Mary Ellen (Stover) Bilyeu, 87, 3506 Burton Road, West Point, died at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007 in St. Mary's Healthcare Center, Lafayette. She was born July 21, 1919 in Fair Oaks, Jasper County, the daughter of Frank G. and Rosetta (Faye) Stover. She married Gerald E. Bilyeu June 29, 1941 in Rensselaer. He survives. They had been married for 66 years. She grew up on a farm near Fair Oaks. She graduated from Fair Oaks High School and Indiana Business College. She worked as a secretary for the Creamery Department of Purdue University and for the Murphy Law Office, Lafayette. She later helped work on her father's farm in Tippecanoe County. She had been an active member of the West Point United Methodist Church, where she served on the WSCS as a past president and secretary. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed working in her yard. Survivors, besides the husband, include: a son, Arthur "Art" G. (Linda M.) Bilyeu, West Point; a daughter, Etta Rae (Bob) Marsh, West Point; five grandchildren, Cindy (Jeff) Cade, Brian (Shari) Bilyeu, Roy (Jenny) Bilyeu, Troy Tucker and Mark (Jackie) Tucker; and six great-grandchildren, Levi, Melia, Jordanna, Tyler, Serena and Cassie. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Sam, Vernon, Joe and Ross Stover. Funeral services were at noon Monday in West Point United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Smith officiating. Burial was in West Point Cemetery. Maus Funeral Home, Attica, was in charge of arrangements.

Noah Blowers Dies At Home In Albion
Noah Blowers, 70, a native of Adams county, and father of Mrs. Harry Keshner, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday at his home in Albion following a two-week illness of influenza and complications. The farmer and Block-layer was born in Adams county May 30, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Blowers. He was married September 1, 1912 to Miranda?? Myers, who survives. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. Blowers farmed in Adams county until 1942 and moved to Albion at that ime. The Kershners now live at his former farm here. In addition to the wife, three daughters and on son survive; Mrs. Mary Ann Kershner, Decatur, Mrs. John (Wanda) Robinson, route 2, ???; and Miss Clara Blowers, at home; Carson Blowers, Avilla; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Ivan Booher?? Of Geneva, and Mrs. William Derrickson, Geneva, and Mrs. Ollie Beerbower, Texas; and two brothers, Archie, of Columbia City, and Vernon of Louisiana, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Bonham and Fiser funeral home, Albion, at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at a country cemetery near Albion.

WILLIAMSPORT - Ivey Irene (Cunningham) Bowman, 74, 105 Brown St., Williamsport, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006 in her residence. She was born June 21, 1932 in Washington, Ind., the daughter of John P. and Mary Etta (Doane) Cunningham. She married Harlan Bowman in Washington. He preceded in death. She was raised in Washington, attending Washington High School. She formerly lived in Attica and had resided in Williamsport the past 23 years. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center for several years, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed working with plastic canvas and working puzzles and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed listening to country and gospel music. Survivors include: two daughters, Anda Kay (Jim) Hardy, Montgomery and Robin Colleen Russell, Washington; three sisters, Emma Hunter, Cita, Fla., Joella (Gordon) Edwards, Brook, and Frances Russell, Washington. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters. There will be no services scheduled.

Joseph F. Brewster, 73, former resident of Berne, who resided at 744 West Fairfax, Fort Wayne, died at his home at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 24 of an apparent heart attack. He had not been ill and death was unexpected.
Brewster, a charter member of the Berne Lions Club and its first president, moved to Fort Wayne from Berne 20 years ago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne. He retired from Midland Rose Co. where he had
been employed for 20 years; prior to that he had worked for International Harvester for 20 years. Born Sept. 1, 1912 in Jefferson Township, Adams County, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Sipe) Brewster. On
May 1, 1936 in Berne he married Ruth Winteregg and she survives. Surviving besides the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Gail) Simon of Berne and Mrs. Sidney (Jane) Stucky, Fountaintown; one sister, Mrs. Herman (Annabelle) Mays of
Wooster, Ohio; a foster sister-Mrs. Russel (Hulda) Blocker of Marion; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne, with Rev. Carol

LAFAYETTE - William Clark Bruce, 40, 1833 Shoshone Drive, Lafayette, died Saturday, June 9, 2001 at his residence. He was born July 3, 1960 in Lafayette, the son of Homer Dean and Nita A. Robinette Bruce. He was a life resident of Lafayette. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1979 and graduated from the auto body school of Ivy Tech. He was a grill cook at various restaurants in Lafayette. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had been attending the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lafayette. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge of Lafayette. Survivors include: his father, Homer Dean Bruce, Spencer; a companion, Jane McKibbin, Lafayette; a sister, Dianne K. Biggs, Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers, Edward D. (Teresa) Bruce, Gibsonton, Fla. and Robert A. (Roxanne) Bruce, Beaverton, Ore.; an aunt, Vickie Gorby, Spencer; a uncle, Larry S. Bruce, Bloomington; and a nephew, Eric Edward Bruce, Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nita, on Feb. 8, 1995 and an infant brother, Daniel Bruce. Daniel G. Clark, 63, of Spencerville died Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born November 7, 1954, in Garrett to Albert and Kathleen (Murphy) Clark. Mr. Clark had worked at Heidtman Steel in Butler and retired in 2016.
Dan enjoyed farming, fishing, boating, bow-hunting for deer, and just being outdoors. He also enjoyed woodworking and playing in his wood shop. He dearly loved spending time with his grandkids. Former Liberty Center resident, William Lee Clark, 68, died at Hospice Residence of Martin and St. Lucie in Stuart, Fla., Thursday, May 26. Born in Frankfort, Clark had lived in Stuart since 1983. A graduate of Liberty Center High School and formerly in the construction business in Wells County, He was a self-employed stucco contractor, working from Key West to Sebastian, Fla. He formed the Bill Clark Band, playing country music. He was a member of the Gweeds Gansters and the Ernest Hemingway lookalike society. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son Mitchell, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughters Deborah Sherrick of Boynton Beach, Fla., Cynthia Robinson of Widemar, Calif., and Penny D. Russell of Jensen Beach; brothers Robert and Jack Clark, both of Crossville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Victoria graduated from New Haven High School in 1982 and earned her Bachelors in 2006 from Indiana Tech in Human Resource Management.. She worked as a administrative assistant with Navistar for 10 years, retiring in 2010. She was a member of the South Winds Church of Christ. Victoria enjoyed yard work, planting flowers, playing video games, camping, going to Disney World, but her passion was spending time with her family and special times with her grandchildren. WILLIAMSPORT - Louis M. Coleman, 72, Williamsport, died at 12:38 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was born March 26, 1934 in Veedersburg, the son of Simon Coleman Sr. and Mayme (Simms) Coleman. He married Frances L. Smith March 10, 1956 in Williamsport. She survives. He attended Veedersburg schools. He moved to Williamsport after his marriage. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from the Navy, he worked at Harrison Steel Casting Co. in Attica. He then worked at Purdue University for nearly 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, antique tractors, and working in the yard. He enjoyed lawn mower and small engine repair. During the winter he would take the neighborhood kids sledding with his tractor. He especially enjoyed flying kites with his grandkids. Survivors, besides the wife, include: five children, Dave (Laura) Coleman, Naples, Fla., Danny Coleman, Snoqualmie, Wash., Steve (Jenny) Coleman, Crossville, Tenn., Rhonda Bowlus, Williamsport, and Mark (Rachael) Coleman, Wingate; two brothers, James Coleman, Veedersburg and Harold "Bud" Coleman, Rockville; a sister, Sally Meihls, Veedersburg; a brother-in-law, Richard "Jiggs" Clendenen, Delphi; a sister-in-law, Ruth Coleman, Williamsport; and seven grandchildren, Dannielle Coleman, Marilla Coleman, Bambi Loshbaugh, Shelby Coleman, Blaine Bowlus, Cody Bowlus, and Ian Coleman. He was preceded in death by a brother, Simon Coleman Jr.; two sisters, Joy Lewellen and Barbara Clendenen; and a son-in-law, Chip Bowlus. Gary Hansel Compton, 82, of Kendallville died Friday, April 27, 2018, at 3:40 a.m. at Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville. He was born March 4, 1936, in Grundy, Virginia, to Bruce Allen Compton and Alice (Skeens) Compton Edwards. Mr. Compton served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. On December 24, 1959, he married Birdie Mae Knox. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2017. He had worked in the shipping department of Essex Wire. He was a member of the Helmer Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Gail (Larry) Cordial-Norton of Butler, Pam Branning of Albion, and Tammy (Vaughn) Halsey of Franklin, Tennessee; four sons, Greg (Karen) Cordial of Kendallville, Bruce (Della Pierce) Compton of Corunna, Duane Scott (Margaret) Compton of Kendallville, and Troy (Melinda) Compton of Kendallville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Delbert L. Larry L. Cooper, 75, of Middlebury, died at 6:38 pm on Monday, April 2, at his residence. He was born on November 7, 1942, in Constantine, MI, to Roy and Thelma (Weaver) Cooper. On November 20, 1982 in St. Joe County, MI he married Phyllis Giggy, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Taylor of Nappanee; son, Garrett Cooper of Middlebury; grandchildren, Brennan and Kaiden Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a lifelong farmer. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, April 5 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home. Carl Corwin, 65, a lifelong resident of rural Portland, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Carl was born on March 7, 1953 in Portland, Indiana the son of Cornelius "Corky" and Mary Rose (Pfeifer) Corwin. He graduated from Pennville High School in 1971. On June 17, 1972 he married the love of his life and spent the next 45 years living their life together to the fullest in every form. Carl retired from Marsh Supermarkets after 35 years and went on to be self-employed to where he retired from that in 2012. He was an avid and lifelong farmer and enjoyed watching as his son followed in his footsteps. Carl was a loving, kind and generous man who was a hard worker and would give the shirt off his back for any of his friends and neighbors, but the real joy of his life was family. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren and planning play dates so he could be surrounded by them. Carl was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #145, Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association and the Sons of the American Legion in Pennville. In addition to his wife Karla, he is survived by his children KaTura Bishop (husband Scott), Hartford City, Terence Corwin (wife Ashley), Portland, and six grandchildren who were the light of his world. His one sister Elaine Bickel, Portland, four brothers John Corwin (wife Kathy), Pennville, Neal Corwin (wife Freda), Bryant, Phil Corwin, Portland, Bob Corwin (wife Martha), Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Cornelius and Mary Rose Corwin, brother, Thomas Corwin, and son Travis Corwin. Carol R. Crosby, 81, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born on Sunday, October 25, 1936 in Fort Wayne the daughter of the late August Christian Heinrich "Henry" Schoenemann and the late Ruth E. (Degitz) Schoenemann. She married Franklin C. Crosby on May 25, 1957 in Ft. Wayne, IN and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2017. Carol graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1954 as the Valedictorian. She stayed involved with her Elmhurst classmates through the years & helped organize gatherings & reunions. In her early years she was a Legal Secretary & later a realtor for several Ft. Wayne companies. Mom was the force that pulled our family together. She loved creating family gatherings with large feasts & made sure to capture all the Kodak moments. She loved to cook & make pies with cherries dad would gather from the neighbor's tree. She was a diligent worker & VERY organized. She & dad had many projects together, notably making sauerkraut & canning tomatoes. Not until her mid-70s did she use canned tomatoes other than her own. She was a 'fashionista' & an amazing seamstress. Her creations were perfect. She had a soft heart & always made us all feel better. She loved her only grandson with all her heart. She loved each of the Siamese cats that came into her life passionately. We miss her already.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Survivors include her daughter, Kari A. (Karl) Berron of Indianpolis, IN; son, Steven C. (Dawn) Crosby of Fort Wayne, IN; brother in law, Karl W. Schroeder of Monroeville, IN; grandson, Samuel L. Berron of Indianpolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda L. Schroeder. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church 7819 Decatur Rd, Fort Wayne with Rev. Michael Trombley officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Ft. Wayne. LAFAYETTE - Robert E. DeArment, 74, Oxford St., Lafayette, died at 8:17 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2000 in VA Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He had been a patient for the past two months. He was born May 14, 1925 in Altoona, Pa., the son of Harold E. and Evelyn E. Houseman DeArment. He married Violet Creamer Jones in 1970 in St. Petersburg, Fla. She preceded in death in 1988. In 1996 he married Barbara Joanie Robbins in Lafayette, who survives. He grew up in Pennsylvania and had lived in Williamsport for 20 years before moving to Lafayette in 1990. He received his high school education and was a graduate of Chef's School of Cooking in Scranton, Pa. He was a master chef for 40 years, cooking in several local restaurants, including the Attica Hotel and the Elks Country Club. For several years, he was master chef at the Showboat Dinner Theatre in St. Petersburg, Fla. After he retired, he worked for the Marsh Store in Lafayette. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theater and was held a P.O.W. for 11 months. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #11 of Lafayette and the VFW. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter and son from a previous marriage, Trudy Jo and Ronald Eugene DeArment; two step sons, Clement Wynn Jones, Indianapolis, John C. Jones, Judyville; two daughters, Donna Jones VanLeer and Launa Sue Jones, both of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica, with military graveside rites.

She was born July 25, 1955, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of the late Chester Monroe and Thelma A. Scott Delp. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Howard, and a sister, Margaret. Dr. DeWeerd dies
Dr. James Arthur DeWeerd, 55, well-known Methodist evangelist and vice president of the Indiana Sons of the American Revolution of Pennville, died Tuesday night at his home. His body was discovered by his wife, Mildred, Wednesday evening, where she returned from traveling.
Dr. DeWeerd was well-known in Decatur, having spoken several times at local SAR dinners, and at the state meeting held here. DeWeerd was a Methodist evangelist who traveled throughout the United States fighting what he called "the country's biggest problem today…apathy both in and out of church…" He began his evangelistic career as a preacher with the Cadle Tabernacle in Indianapolis. Born in Olivet, Ill. on May 23, 1916, his parents were Rev. Fred and Lelia (Benedict) DeWeerd. He was married to Mildred Geyer on June 5, 1963. She is a teacher at Blackford County High School in Hartford City. DeWeerd settled in Pennville in 1958. He was a graduate of Taylor and Ball State Universities; a Cambridge University student; U.S. Army chaplain during World War II; director of the Bethany Children's Home in Bethany, Ky.; national chaplain and vice president of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of Pennville Lodge 212, F&AM, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite; the Muncie Commandary, York Rite and Pennville American Legion Post 482. Surviving besides his wife are four sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Bloom, Three Rivers, Mich.; Mrs. Francis J. Buege, Midland, Mich.; Mrs. Herbert Norton, Lansing, Mich. and Mrs. Wilbur Beeson, Greenfield, Ind. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pennville Methodist Church with Rev. Raymond Welch, Chillicothe, Ohio, officiating, assisted by Rev. John Lauthain. Callers will be received at the Walker Funeral Home in Montpelier after 3 p.m. Friday and until noon on Saturday when the body will be removed to the church.
Burial is planned in Green Park Cemetery at Fairmount. Graveside military services will be in charge of the Pennville American Legion Post.

INDEPENDENCE - Betty Lou (Carnahan) Dicken, 65, Independence, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 in Home Hospital, Lafayette. She was born March 4, 1941 in Portland Arch, Fountain County, the daughter of Joseph Owen and Doris Mae (Story) Carnahan. She married Charles Curtis Dicken Jan. 6, 1959 in Kansas City, Mo. He survives. She had lived most of her life in Warren County, residing in Winthrop and outside of Pine Village for several years. She had lived in Independence since 1987. She had worked at the Warren County Home and the Lafayette Baptist Schools. More recently she had worked at Hills Department Store in Lafayette. She was an active and faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Attica. She was deeply loved by her husband and everyone who knew her. Survivors, besides the husband, include: her mother of Attica; two sons, Charles (Alane) Dicken Jr., Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis Dicken, Independence; four daughters, Janette (Mark) Sloan, Monticello, Mary Ann (Michael) Coolidge, Belton, Texas, Juanita (Craig) Ledbetter, Cork, Ireland, and Patricia (Brian) Madden, Belten, Texas; five sisters, Mary Carnahan and Nancy Carnahan, both of Attica, Donna (companion Danny) Moyer, Lafayette, Joy (Rick) Kelley, Uijongbu, Korea, and Rena (companion Al) Carnahan, Kokomo; 26 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, a daughter, Carrie Faye Dicken; and two brothers, Richard Owen Carnahan and Joseph Albert Carnahan. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church, Attica, with Pastors Brian Shaw, Rick Kelley and Roland Romig officiating. Burial was in Independence Cemetery. FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY FOR DR. BEN DUKE, 50 - Decatur Specialist Dies at Hospital Following Short Illness
Dr. Ben Duke, 50, a physician in Decatur since 1934, died at 6:15 p.m. Friday in the Adams County Memorial hospital, where he was taken Thursday morning after becoming ill Wednesday night. He lapsed into a coma shortly after being taken to the hospital. Dr. Duke, an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, was a native of Crab Orchard, Ky., where he was born August 29, 1900 and practiced in Lebanon Junction, Ky., Crab Orchard and Monroeville before coming to Decatur. He was graduated from the University of Louisville and took graduate work at Rochester University, the University of Wisconsin, Vanderbilt University and Mercy hospital, Chicago. Surviving are the wife, Ethel; a daughter Mrs. Barbara Jeane Stephens, Miami, Fla., and two grandchildren. Duke was a member of the Academy of International Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Indiana Medical Society, the Adams County Medical Society, the American Legion, having served in World War I; the Elks and Masonic Lodges, the York Rite at Fort Wayne, the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, the Fort Wayne Magician's Club, the Fraternal Order of Police and the United Commercial Travelers. He also had received a commission as a Kentucky colonel and was president of the Royal Duke Court Corporation, Miami. The funeral was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur.
The Rev. George O. Walton of Fremont, formerly of Decatur, officiated. The body will be cremated.

Peggy Anderson dies at hospital
Mrs. Ethel (Peggy) Duke Anderson, 68, of 145 ½ South Second street, wife of Albert Anderson, died at 6 o'clock this morning at the Adams county memorial hospital, where she had been a patient for the past six weeks. A native of Nashville, Tenn., she was born in that city Feb. 11, 1904, a daughter of Walter and Lottie Sharpe-Curtis. She was first married to Dr. Ben Duke in Nashville Aug. 29, 1921. Dr. and Mrs. Duke moved to Decatur in 1933. The physician died here July 15, 1951. She was married to Albert Anderson July 5, 1952, in Coral Gables, Fla. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the First Presbyterian church and the Psi Iota Xi sorority, and was an honorary member of the Adams County Medical Association auxiliary, and an honorary member of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Duke Woodbury of Bedford, N.H.; one sister, Mrs. Joe Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, Tenn., one brother, Sharpe Curtis of Nashville, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Dean Smylie of Fort Collins, Colo., and Mrs. Walter Brockett of North Haven, Conn.; and two great-grandsons, Danny and Erick Brockett. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Zwick funeral home, with Rev. Robert E. Vanderhart officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Friday until time of the services. Preferred memorials are to the Adams county Cancer society.

A pianist for year and a ladies aide at Oak Chapel Methodist Church of which she was a member, G. Louise (Banter) Farr, 88, of rural Marion in Blackford County, died on her 88th birthday anniversary at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at Bradner Village Healthcare Center, Marion. Born Oct. 15, 1917, in Blackford County, she was a daughter of Carl and Surrilda Ervin Banter. She was a 1935 graduate of Roll High School and valedictorian of her high school class. Her marriage was on Oct. 18, 1941, at Frankfort, Ind., to Cail L. Farr, who died on July 22, 1981. Surviving are a son, Donald Farr of Hartford City; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Betty) Flowers of Greenfield, Ind., and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Clair, Byron and Francis Banter, and one sister, Mary Margaret Ruth.
Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Dr. Herb Nygren officiating. Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion.

Frederic Ernest Frankland, 91
The brother of Roma (Frankie) McFarren of Bluffton, Frederic Ernest Frankland, 91, died at 7:30 a.m. Australian time Thursday, July 14, at the Bethlehem Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Mr. Frankland was an architect and builder and a veteran of the RAAF, where he served in the European theater during World War II. He was a tail gunner in a spitfire fighter and served from 1940 to 1946. Born in Melbourne, he was the son of Ernest and Eva Frankland. In addition to his Bluffton sister, he is survived by 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Victor, Sydney, Stanley and Vincent.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. W.D. Rose Funerals of Cheltenham are handling arrangements.

Simpson March 17, 1957 in Newtown, who survives. He was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated in 1955 from Richland Township High School in Newtown. He was a farmer in the Newtown area, and he and his wife formerly owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Lafayette and Galloway's Standard Station in Romney. He had been a school bus driver for Southwestern School. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and history. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette, with the Rev. John Like officiating.
Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Romney. Memorials to charity of donor's choice.

James Richard "Jim" Garrett, 88
A former Liberty Center resident, James Richard "Jim" Garrett, 88, of Indianapolis, died Wednesday, Aug. 3. Formerly of Cape Coral, Fla., Mr. Garrett graduated from Purdue University in 1944 and spent 34 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a statistician. He served in Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Retiring as the head of the Fruit and Vegetable Section, he moved to Florida in 1979. After 23 years of retirement in Florida, he and his wife moved to Indianapolis to be closer to family. Survivors include his wife Burnell "Burnie" daughters Mrs. Jim (Rhonda) O'Reilly and Mrs. Pat (Cindy) O'Connor; a brother Charles "Chad" Garrett; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today in Robertson Chapel at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86 St. at 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Family Funeral Care.

Deborah Kay Geeting, 68, of Auburn passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Deborah was born January 10, 1950, in Auburn. She married Michael L. Geeting on April 12, 1969, at the First United Methodist Church in Auburn, and he survives. Deborah worked for the DeKalb County Probation Department, Dr. Spink, The Evening Star and Wible & Associaties in Auburn. She was a member of the Waterloo Freewill Baptist Church in rural Waterloo. Deborah loved her flower garden and enjoyed and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Denissa Geeting of Auburn; daughter and son-in-law Erin and Mark Thrush of Garrett; six grandchildren, Samantha Mettert, Alivia Thrush, Morgan Thrush, Abbey Geeting, Autumn Geeting and Sophia Geeting; three siblings and their spouses, Terri Grogg of Auburn, Gregg and Linda Wattier of Auburn and Roberta and Eric Kuhlhorst of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Eugene "Gene" Wattier; mother and stepfather Bess E. and Hubert "Hugger" Miller; stepsister Diana Houk; a nephew, Colby Wattier; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Edison W. and Doris C. Geeting. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 9-10 a.m. Friday prior to the service. The Rev. Ron Stambaugh and Thad Ford will be officiating.

Naomi M. George, 97, of Fort Wayne passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne. She was born January 21, 1921, in Garrett to the late Charles and Frances (Lasch) Newman. Naomi married Robert George on August 9, 1941, in Garrett, and he passed away in 1983. Naomi was a homemaker. She attended the First Church of Christ in Garrett. She was a volunteer for the Heimach Center in Auburn and was a former Girl Scout leader.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sharon George of Auburn; two daughters, Martha George of Fort Wayne and Reeta George of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Mark (Sheri) George of Auburn, Michael (Amy) George of Angola, Shawn Harlan of California, Christy (John) Vahlberg of California, Emily (John) Pratt of Arkansas, Suzanne Robertson of Arkansas and Elaine Spradlin of Minnesota; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Marjory (Harold) Powell of Craigville; and son-in-law Joseph Spradlin of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Nancy Spradlin; two brothers, Delmar Newman and Walter Newman; and a sister, Eleanor Borton. Samuel Germano, 93, passed away on April 14, 2018. He was born on September 8, 1924 in Harlan County, KY, the son of the late Joseph and Lucille Germano. Samuel served as a Corporal in the Air Force from 1943 to 1945 where he received a Good Conduct Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, a European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, and 4 bronze stars. Samuel worked at Phelps Dodge Wire as a supervisor for 20 years before his retirement. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Cindy) Germano, and Keith (Johanna) Germano; grandchildren, Matthew Germano and Sara Germano; and great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jordan and Owen; sisters, Audrey McCarthy and Josephine Bailey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Germano in 1979; siblings, Lloyd and Frank Germano; and companion, Patricia Stanley. Funeral service will take place Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10AM with calling 1 hour prior at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Clyde was born on March 22, 1928, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, the son of Elijah and Vicie Ann (Fields) Gilbert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the VFW Post #6515 in Fort Recovery. He retired in 1990 from New Idea in Coldwater after 37 years of service. Clyde attended Bellfountain United Methodist Church. He married Barbara Coulson on April 14, 1956. Survivors include: His wife of 62 years: Barbara Gilbert - rural Portland, Indiana; 4 sons: Rex Gilbert (wife Mary) - Wapakoneta, Ohio, Max Gilbert (wife Ruth) - Ft. Recovery, Ohio, Clyde Eric Gilbert - Portland, Indiana, Todd Gilbert (wife Cindy) - Tilton, New Hampshire; 3 daughters: Tracy Teeter - Portland, Indiana, Holly Sullivan (husband Joe) - Portland, Indiana, Penny Martin (husband Tom) - Portland, Indiana; 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Jo Gilbert and a son-in-law, Noah Teeter. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Dick earned a Bachelors' Degree in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University (1955) and started his professional career with Naval Avionics (NAFI) Indianapolis working in applied research, Bureau of Naval Weapons and Aeronautics. Dick served in the US Air Force receiving an Honorable discharge in 1957 and resumed employment at NAFI thru Dec. 1960. Dick's career took him into Private Industry at PR Mallory, Indianapolis, as a Design Engineer. Then, as Director of Engineering and Design for Arvin Industries, Columbus, IN. Dick was employed with Magnavox Government and Industrial Electronics Co., Fort Wayne, as Engineering Supervisor for Communication and Navigation Systems; including LORAN and SATELLITE equipment. As Engineering Mgr.-Communications he directed and supervised development and production support of voice/data communication, Navigation Systems/Subsystems, and restructured engineering planning for communications software and hardware, helping to expand business into advanced markets for the Electronic Warfare Division. He was involved in Tactical Information Systems, Satellite Communications, Digital/Electronic R&D, Development and Design. Retiring from Magnavox as Director of Engineering, Dick rejoined civil service with Defense Contract Management Agency until April 2014. He had a combined government service of 20+ years as a civil servant and a cumulative of 50+ years in the defense industry. He was presented the Commander's Coin in appreciation and gratitude for dedicated efforts throughout his career. Dick was a member of The Institute of Navigation, Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Assn., Assn. for Unmanned Vehicle Systems, and Assn. of Old Crows (all in Washington, DC), AIEEE, FW Engineers Club, John Chapman Kiwanis, and a Purdue Lifetime Member. Surviving are his wife Judy and 5 children, Mary (Richard) Gilyeat, Michael Gillman, Linda (Dale) Evans, Kyle (Robin) Kitchen, Kara (Steve) Litchfield; 14 Grandchildren, four great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. He loved being surrounded by his family, enjoyed playing bridge, the arts, and had a passion for old and new airplanes. Dick was preceded in death by his grandson Connor Kitchen, siblings Paul (Norma) Gillman, Mary Ann (Don) Thomas, and John Gillman. Cathy J. Glover, 61, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Cathy was the daughter of the late Merlin Bowers and Delores Bowers Schmidt. Cathy was working with FWO for the past 17 years. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, baking, and quilting. There was nothing more important in this world than her family and she cherished her title "Nana." Surviving are her daughter, Tanya Glover-Myhre of Fort Wayne; son, Nicholas Glover of Tumwater, WA; grandchildren, Parker, Metea, Gabriel, Elijah, Joseph; longtime companion Dave Glover of Fort Wayne; siblings; Alvin (Debbie) Bowers of Monroeville, Bob Bowers of New Haven, Cindy Bowers, Brenda Bowers, Laurie (Chad) Black all of Fort Wayne. Mary Ann (McCurdy) Goldsmith, 86, born in Liberty Center, Ohio, to Victor and Frances McCurdy, met her Savior on March 31, 2018 at home. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and professional. She was employed as a bookkeeper for over 30 years at Harlan Cabinets before retiring. Mary enjoyed studying her bible, reading, traveling with friends and family, and fishing in Canada. A pastor's wife for 66 years, Mary was a joyful servant who ministered to her family and community. Her sweet spirit blessed everyone who crossed her path and her vibrant smile could light up any room. Mary's loving heart made her known as "Grandma" to many more than just her grand kids. Her family will always cherish her humble spirit, giving nature, and love for the Lord. Mary was a woman of great strength and tremendous faith and will be deeply missed. Leonard M. Goldstein passed away April 20 in Carmel, Indiana at the age of 97. Len was born in Cleveland, Ohio, September 27, 1920, to Rose and Mitchell Goldstein. He graduated from Ohio State University, and soon moved to Fort Wayne, where he lived with his wife Rikki for the next 71 years. He worked in export management, spending the bulk of his career with the company he founded, Midland, Inc. Len's civic engagement occupied him until a few weeks before his death, including serving on the boards of local arts organizations, civil and constitutional rights groups, community physical and mental health providers, and institutions devoted to Jewish community life. He also served a term as president of the Fort Wayne Community Schools Board. A passionate advocate of fairness and justice, as well as his views on how to achieve them, he was a frequent contributor to the OpEd page of the Fort Wayne newspapers. Len is survived by his wife Rikki, his children Michael, Steven, Jan Goldstein and Lisa Post, and his grandchildren Ben and Jon Barefoot; Amanda and Anya Goldstein; and Cort, Arlee, Zach, and Kailee Post, several great-grandchildren and a sister Marianne Wheeler of Tucson, AZ. Robert F. Gray Jr, 72, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne following a long illness. He was born in Hazleton, IN, to the late Robert and Bettie Gray. Bob was a 1963 graduate of old Central High School in Evansville, In. He earned a baseball scholarship to the University of Evansville, and was a member of the TKE fraternity. He joined the Army and was an intelligence specialist with the 11th Armored Cavalry (the Black Horse) in Vietnam. Upon discharge from the Army, Bob earned a bachelor's degree from the University Of Southern Indiana in Evansville. He taught elementary education in Frankfort, In., and Zanesville Ohio for over 15 years and was also a math instructor at Muskingum Tech, also in Zanesville. Robert coached high school football, baseball and wrestling for several years. Prior to his retirement, Bob was a manager for Meijer in Kokomo, Indiana. Bob and his wife lived in Arkansas, Georgia, and Ohio during his retirement, finally returning to Indiana. Bob was a life member of the 11th Armored Cavalry's Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia, an avid golfer and bowler. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Carolyn S. Gray of Fort Wayne, IN; sons, Nick (Lauren Vautaw) Gray of Kokomo, IN; Alex Gray of Pittsburgh, PA; grandson Owen Gray, twin granddaughters Fiona and Mila Gray, grand dog, Moogie and his companion dog, Parker. Sister-in-laws and Brother-in-laws include Lisa Burke, Gary (Jina) Burke, and J. Scott (Jo) Burke and sister, Mary Francis Gray all of Evansville, Indiana. Ryan K. Greathouse, age 32, of Auburn passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 28, 2018. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma on August 18, 1985 to Mark and Connie (Mock) Greathouse. Ryan was a 2004 graduate of Fairview High School in Sherwood, Ohio. He then went on to graduate Northwest State Community College in Archbold, Ohio. Ryan married Christen M. Myers on August 1, 2009 in Auburn. She resides in Auburn. He worked at Hendrickson in Kendallville for 5 years. Ryan then turned his love of guns and helping people into a career by working at Auburn Arms for the last 2 years. He enjoyed helping people find the right firearm to keep themselves and their families safe. Ryan attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Auburn. In addition to being a gun enthusiast, Ryan was a musician playing in a few bands over the years and he enjoyed hunting. A native of Uniondale, Eugene E. "Doc" Griffin, 76, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital. He was a crane operator for 55 years and founded and owned Gene Griffin Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and has lived in the Fort Wayne area most of his life. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie B.; a son, Gregory E. of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Evelyn E. Koiner and Gayle S. Griffin, both of Fort Wayne and Karen Jamison of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Gary W. and Lloyd Jr. both of Fort Wayne and five sisters, Phyllis Seibold and Bonnie J. Durnell, both of Fort Wayne; Marilyn Burk and Donna Ashcroft, both of Phoenix and Pat Shafer of Norman, Okla. Irma A. (Haarer) Graber, 93, of Goshen, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:58 am, on Sunday, April 1, at Goshen Health Hospital. She was born on March 23, 1925, in LaGrange County, to Ezra and Ina (Troyer) Lantz. On July 26, 1942, she married Aldine Haarer of Shipshewana. He went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 1973 of cancer. On September 21, 1979 she married Joe J. Gingerich of Topeka; he passed on January 10, 1999 with complications from a stroke. On May 18, 2002 she married Ezra Graber of Centerville, MI; he passed on February 4, 2015 also from cancer. Irma was a homemaker and had worked at Holly Park and the Yoder Department store for a number of years. She also taught children in children's church for many years, holding their attention with her demonstrative lessons and style that was one of a kind. She would hold them spellbound. She dearly loved her family and her Lord; she was a very devoted prayer warrior. She enjoyed playing games with family. (Especially 6 handed Rook) Her greatest wish was for everyone to know and love Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She was anticipating seeing Jesus face to face. She was a member of Maple City Chapel of Goshen. Surviving are two sons, James (Sharon) Haarer of Goshen, Dennis (Joyce) Haarer of Phillipsburg, KS; a daughter-in-law Patricia Haarer of Goshen; six grandchildren, Kevin (Malinda) Haarer, Anita (Ty) Palmer, Ginger (Ken) Wade, Michelle Haarer, Angela (Kevin) Phillips, Mitchell (Sara) Haarer; nine great grandchildren, two step daughters, Wanda (Wayne) Bontrager of Goshen, Judy (Mike) Payne of Holland, MI; four step-sons, Merlin Graber of Plant City, FL, Don Graber of Centreville, MI, Harold Gingerich of Topeka, Brian Gingerich of Salem, OR; 13 step grandchildren, and 21 step great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Lantz of LaGrange and Glendon Lantz of Goshen; sister, Gladys Miller of Goshen. Margie worked in the accounting department at Sears Roebuck for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Margie enjoyed playing euchre and dominos with friends. She was born June 19, 1943 in Veedersburg, the daughter of Delmar A. and Loretta Flora (Jennings) Stembaugh. She married C. Wayne Hetrick June 22, 1974 in the Williamsport Christian Church. He survives. She was raised in rural Veedersburg and attended Veedersburg High School. She was a homemaker. She had attended the Maranatha Baptist Church in Covington. She loved her chocolate, going to McDonald's Restaurant and working word search puzzles. Survivors, besides the husband, include: a daughter, Lori Ann (Jeff) Olsen, Lafayette; a son, Michael Thomas Johnson; two sisters, Helen Mathis, Pinckneyville, Ill., and her twin sister, Marie Baldwin, Decatur, Mich.; five grandchildren, which include Ashley Ann Olsen, Marcus P. Olsen and Kimberly M. Olson, all of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, and two brothers. There will be a gathering of family and friends at noon today (Wednesday) until the memorial service at 2 p.m. in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastor Jim Burchell officiating. WILLIAMSPORT - Larry A. Hobaugh, 68, rural Williamsport, died of natural causes while turkey hunting on Wednesday, April 25, 2007. He was born July 5, 1938 in Marshfield, the son of Dale A. and Mary Louise (Morlan) Hobaugh. He married Patsy D. Hoskins Sept. 15, 1956 in Galloway Chapel. She survives. He worked at G. E., later known as Valmont, in Danville, Ill., retiring in 1993. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963. He was a member of the West Lebanon Church of the Nazarene and the Fountain Lodge #60 F. & A.M. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His grandchildren and great-granddaughter were his life. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two daughters, Sherri (David) Mullins, New Castle and Lisa (Eric) Osborn, Covington; a brother, Harold (Diane) Hobaugh, Bartlett, Tenn.; and six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Leslie Peterson and her daughter, Charlee, Duane Peterson, Shannon Mullins, Tyler Mullins, Eric (Tori) Osborn, and Amy Osborn. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Delmar Hobaugh. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in West Lebanon Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating. BOSWELL - Thelma Louise Hoppes, 88, rural Boswell, died at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. She was born Oct. 20, 1918 in Prairie Township, Warren County, the daughter of Clarence Hallie and Elma Doris (Reed) Hoppes. She formerly lived in Attica and had resided in rural Boswell in Warren County since 1978. She attended Attica and Rainsville schools and graduated from Boswell High School in 1937. She graduated from Central-Normal and later Canterbury Colleges in Danville, Ind. She did post graduate work at Purdue University and received her masters degree from Indiana State University. She taught school at Rainsville and Pine Village for 43 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the former Rainsville Community Church. She was a member of the Pine Village Literary Club, Boswell Quest Club, Warren County and State of Indiana Historical Society, and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was a former member of the Warren County Business and Professional Women. She was a former secretary of the Rainsville Cemetery Board and a former assistant aide at the Boswell Library. She enjoyed painting, knitting and reading. She collected and made Santa Clauses. Survivors include: a sister, Barbara Haniford, Pine Village; six nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Hoppes) McIntyre, Melinda (Hoppes) Coleman, Katurah "Katie" (Haniford) Jones, Robert "Bud" Haniford, Sara L. (Haniford) Johnston, and Gregory Haniford; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Hoppes, a brother, Eugene Hoppes, and a nephew, Michael Haniford. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastor Paul Stamm officiating. Burial was in Rainsville Cemetery, near Pine Village.

Death Takes Sgt. Hughes; Rites Friday
The funeral of Police Patrol Sgt. Claude C. Hughes, 43, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in D. O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, the Rev. Carl H. Amelung officiating. Sgt. Hughes was dead on arrival Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, after suffering a heart attack at his home 1525 Taylor St. He suffered an illness recently, but had returned to service with the Police Department several weeks ago. A native of Fort Wayne, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hughes. His mother, Martha, survives. His father preceded him in death. Sgt. Hughes served with the Air Force during World War 11 and was active in the Fraternal Order of Police. He joined the Fort Wayne police department of Feb. 1, 1951. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Helen L; a son, Paul A., at home; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Barbier, Fort Wayne; two brothers, James, Fort Wayne, and John, Tucson, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert McKee, Danville, N.Y., and Mrs. Clarence Krewson, Fort Wayne.

Wells County-related Michael L. Irey, 46, of Lakewood,Ohio, died last Wednesday evening, June 29, 2005, in a traffic accident while bicycling in Pennsylvania and returning from a trip to the Pocanos. An avid bicyclist, he had biked a few years ago from Cleveland to the West Coast and back. He was employed by Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland.
Mr. Irey was born to Jack and Marilyn Tarr Irey on Sept. 18, 1958. Survivors include his father, two sisters, Mrs. Geoff (Brenda) Brown of Novelty, Ohio, and Mrs. Robert (Sheila) Eller of Cockeysville, Maryland, and his fiancee, Denise Strzelczyk of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his mother. Relatives in Indiana include four aunts, Dorothy Kammer of Ossian, Mrs. Woodrow (Florence) Crum of Bluffton, Mrs. Robert (Priscilla) Brickley of Craigville and Lois Tarr of Fort Wayne; an uncle, Max Tarr of Paoli, and several cousins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at the Berea United Methodist Church in Berea, Ohio.

EVANSVILLE - Ruth N. Jackson, 86, Evansville, died at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000 in Evansville Protestant N. H. She was born Sept. 1, 1913 in Newport, the daughter of Roy Thomas Sollars and Olline Mitchell. She married Ralph Edward Jackson Aug. 7, 1933 in Chicago, Ill. He preceded in death Nov. 15, 1983. She graduated from Alvin, Ill. High School. She resided in Veedersburg from 1969 to 1998 when she moved to Evansville. She formerly lived in Indianapolis and Paris, Ill. She was a member of the First Christian Church, C.W.F. of the church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a secretary in a physician's office for 25 years, then a partner with her sister operating Veedersburg Florist from 1969 to 1982, when she retired. Survivors include: two sisters, Anne (James) Songer, Veedersburg and Bette Sollars (Charles) Switzer, Evansville; and a step daughter, Dorothy (Doug) Harvey, Sterling Heights, Mich. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church, Veedersburg, with Rusty Anderson and the Rev. Joe Sollars Jr. officiating. Burial was in Thomas Cemetery, Newport.

I. Richard James, 71
A Corning Glass Bluffton plant worker for 19 years and then a millwright for 13 years at the General Motors plant in Marion until retirement in 1997, I. Richard "Dick" James, 71, of Bluffton died at 2:46 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. He was a 1953 graduate of Jackson Center High School in Wells County. Born May 6, 1934, he was a son of Herman and Nora Riggs James. His marriage was on June 6, 1953 to Cora Banter, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Rodney James of Van Buren, Roland James of Columbia City and David James of Warren; two daughters, Mona Gearheart of Bluffton and Mrs. Scott (Rhonda) Snover of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ronald James of Upland and Dwight James of Montpelier; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, There are 4 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Garl and Delmar James, and one grandchild. Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m.Wednesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Marion.

Daisey P. Hoch Jennings Brown, 73
Ossian resident Daisey P. Hoch Jennings Brown died at 2:34 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Warren Twp., Huntington County Feb. 14, 1932 to Howard and Helen Beaver Hoch, she married Duane Jennings March 31, 1953 in Munich, Germany. He preceded her in death. A 1950 graduate of Bippus High School, she received the Citizen of the Year award while in high school. She was also a graduate of Warner Beauty College in Fort Wayne. She had worked as a nanny for a family in Columbus. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Sue Jennings of Anderson; four brothers, Charles Hoch of Phoenix, Ariz., Joe Hoch of Colorado Springs, Col., and Floyd and Larry Hoch, both of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Norma) Weaver of Ossian and Mrs. Lester (Dorothy) McArthur of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven, a brother, Beaver Hoch, and a sister, Marjorie Michel. Calling will be held Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. Rev. Kenneth Dunlop will officiate and burial will be at the Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bippus.

WILLIAMSPORT - Marion Augustus Jordan, 89, a resident of rural Williamsport, died at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 in Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. He had been a patient for one week. He was born July 6, 1911 in Warren County, the son of William H. and Liza Verden Jordan. He married Ardith Irene Ramsey Sept. 17, 1929 in Covington. She survives. He had lived in Danville, Peoria and Chicago, Ill. He attended Danville High School. He was employed as a machinist for Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Ill., retiring in 1976. He had previously worked at DuPont, Newport, and as a carpenter in the Williamsport area. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church at Marshfield, having served as elder, treasurer and as a member of the session. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and loved to read. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a son, William (Marian) Jordan, rural Williamsport; two daughters, Muriel L. (Homer) Mullins, Danville, Ill. and Sharon A. (Gene) Butler, West Lebanon; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marian Jean; a grandson, Roger Butler; two sisters, Hazel Cooper and Nellie Smith; and a brother, Charles Stanley Jordan. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in
Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Patricia H. Kuhs officiating. Burial was in West Lebanon Cemetery.

Thomas R. Kelley, 28, dies at hospital
Thomas R. Kelley, 28, of 2431 St. Marys avenue, Fort Wayne, a resident of that city most of his life, died at 7 a.m. Saturday at Parkview memorial hospital. An employee of Phelps Dodge Copper Products Corp., he attended Shoaff Park Baptist church. Survivors include his wife, Betty J.; four stepdaughters, Kaye L., Sandra L., Lori A., and Mary E.; two stepsons, David M. and Ward Allen, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelley of Yoder; and two sisters, Mrs. Paul DeBolt of Decatur route 2, and Miss Delores Kelley of Yoder. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons funeral home, with Rev. Clinton Foraker officiating.
Burial will be in Prairie Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.

WEST LAFAYETTE - Annabelle (Baker) King, 82, of The Water of Covington, and a former resident of West Lafayette, died at 2:09 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 in Home Hospital, Lafayette, after failing health for several years. She was born July 29, 1918 in Rainsville, the daughter of Arthur and Virginia East Baker. She married Milton Charles King Feb. 3, 1937 in Attica. She was raised in Rainsville, attending Rainsville Elementary School and graduating from Pine Village High School in 1936. While attending Pine Village High School, she played as a center on the girls varsity basketball team. She later lived in Independence and Attica before moving to West Lafayette in 1974. She was a resident of West Lafayette for 31 years until her health failed and she was admitted to various nursing facilities in 1993, finally residing at The Waters in Covington. She formerly worked as a clerk for the Ritzi Jewelry Store in Attica from 1955 until its closing in 1967. She also worked at Radio Materials Corp. in Attica for five years and after moving to West Lafayette she worked for telecommunications at Purdue University from 1974 until May of 1979. She then transferred to the Purdue School of Nursing where she worked as a secretary for the Dean of the School of Nursing until her retirement in 1986. She had attended Attica First United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and bake and was an avid gardener. Survivors include: two daughters, Sally Ann (David) Ward, Jr. and Susan Marie "Soozie" (Vince) Ricketts, both of Attica; a sister, Betty Lou (Edwin) Timm, Southfield, Mich.; a brother, Robert Baker, Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, Eric King, Shannon Floyd, Shari Floyd, Conner Ricketts and "Tasha Ward. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Baker. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. J. Marcos Gilmore officiating.
Burial was in Independence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may best be expressed to the Purdue University School of Nursing.

Katherine E. Chaffins, 90, of LaGrange died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 1:47 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange. She was born March 14, 1928, in Whitley County to J. Raymond and Florence (Kyler) Messner. She had worked at Flint & Walling in Kendallville and retired from Lyall Electric in Rome City. She was a member of the Colonel Augustin de la Balme Chapter of the DAR in Whitley County for the past 69 years and was their oldest member. Surviving are two sons, Jim (Deb) King of LaGrange and Brad (Cheri) King of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Delores (Robert) Krider of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Chaffins; a sister, Janice Dailey; and her first husband, H. Lee King. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Mike Hamm of the Stroh Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery. Calling is Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

WILLIAMSPORT - Wilma Jean Lang, 81, rural Williamsport, died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. She was born Dec. 2, 1925 in the Mehaffey home, the daughter of Carl and Edna Mehaffey. She was married to Paul Samuel Lang for 56 years, who was originally from Danville, Ill. He preceded in death. She was a lifelong resident of Warren County. She and her husband were world travelers. Joining alumnae of her Alma Mater, Indiana University, they traveled to many exotic locations. She especially enjoyed their trips to Tucson, Ariz. where they spent four months each winter for the last 30 years. As mentioned, she was a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington. Her fields of study were Latin and English. During the 1960s she taught both English and Latin, first at Williamsport High School and later at Seeger High School. In her final years, she thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time with her three cats, Dolly, Molly and Polly. One of the prides of her life was the ownership and stewardship of Mehaffey Farms. Like her father Carl, she loved Hereford Cattle. Two of the highlights of her life were being able to attend the 50th anniversary of her graduation from Indiana University and her 60th anniversary of graduation from Williamsport High School. She served on the Williamsport School Board prior to consolidation. She always said, "all of these computers and cell phones, they are all a bunch of nonsense. We didn't have them growing up and we did just fine." She is loved and will be missed. Thanks for the memories grandma. Survivors include: a daughter, Rita (Dr. O. P.) Sharma, Williamsport; three grandchildren, Rischi Paul (Alexis-Rae) Sharma, Laguna Niguel, Calif., Reena (Rich) Potter, West Lebanon, and Dr. Sean Paul Sharma, Williamsport; and two great-grandchildren, Mallory and Benjamin Potter. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Williamsport.

WILLIAMSPORT - Earl H. Lilly Jr., 77, 31 Ross Ave., Williamsport, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at his residence. He was born Feb. 18, 1929 in Attica, the son of Earl Bryan and Virgie Marie (Stuart) Lilly. He married Elizabeth L. Bowlus in March 1953 in Williamsport. She preceded in death in 1998. He grew up in Attica and attended Attica High School. He formerly worked at Paris Laundry in Attica. He owned and operated Lilly Body Shop in Williamsport, starting in 1964. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #2596, Moose Lodge and Wabash Lodge #708 F. & A.M., all of Attica. He was an animal rights activist and generous humanitarian with needy families. He was an avid reader. Survivors include: a daughter, Sharon L. (Winston) Lilly-Taggart, Lafayette; two step sons, Sonny (Marilyn) Billingsley, Williamsport and Larry (Vickie) Bowlus, Veedersburg; a step daughter, Darla (Dick) Feller, Abington, Ill.; three brothers, James (Carole) Lilly, Louisville, Ill., Sam (Shirley) Lilly, Edgewood, Ky., and Albert (Peggy) Lilly, Downey, Calif., five sisters, Betty Martin, Sodus, Mich., Armilda "Lucy" Towles, Attica, Mary Lilly, Amanda (Jim) Hale, and Geraldine (Earl) Allen, all of Lafayette; 13 grandchildren, Makenna Taggart and Sunni (Scott). Childers, both of Lafayette and Courtney (Bryan) Wolf, Indianapolis; Blaine Billingsley and Bryan (Cathy) Bowlus, both of Williamsport, Curtis (Chris) Bowlus, Attica, Mark (Lori) Bowlus, Veedersburg, Tammy (Bill) Myers, Terre Haute, Chris Feller and Sandy Feller, both of Abington, Ill., Rick Feller, Claytonville, Linda (Kirk) Danforth, Burlington, Iowa, and Michael Feller, Minnesota; 18 great-grandchildren; and his constant companion, "Furball." Randy L. Lyon, 47, Markle, died at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16 at his residence after a two-year battle with cancer. Born in Rice Lake, Wis. on March 9, 1958 to Lance and Margaret Robinson Lyon, he married Denise J. Kenney on May 7, 1980 in Whitewater, Wis.; she survives. Mr. Lyon was a repairman in the body shop of the Fort Wayne GM plant, retiring in 2005 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Cornerstone Alliance Church and the U.A.W. Local 2209. A 1976 graduate of Whitewater High School where he still holds several track and field records, he played semi-pro football for the DelAvan Red Devils in DelAvan, Wis., water-skied with the Rock Aqua Jays of Janesville Wis. and at Cypress Gardens n Florida. He was also a basketball referee in northern Indiana for 10 years. Additional survivors include his parents of Chetek, Wis.; a son, Blake Lyon of Yoder; two daughters, Teresa Lyon and Korenda Lyon, both of Markle; a brother, Craig Lyon of LaCrosse, Wis.; a sister, Cheryl Roe of Chetek, Wis.; and three grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Cornerstone Alliance Church, Roanoke. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 .m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in Markle Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Hospice of Northeast Indiana.

Waterloo - Jennifer Lynn Mann, 53, of Waterloo died Sunday April 29, 2018 at her home in Waterloo. She was born August 2, 1964 in Hartford City to Jesse Azor and Mary Ann (Worman) Michael. Jennifer was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Mann who she married in Garrett on June 6, 1992. There are 3 daughters and a son, Amy (Thomas Baumann) Knapp of Garrett, Shonoa (Eric) White of Garrett, David Mann of Garrett and Jessica Mann of Waterloo. There are 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, a brother Gary Cossairt of Fremont and her boyfriend Noah Forehand of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Connie Cossairt.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother. She worked at Bert's Big & Tall for 22 years prior to her retirement. Gloria had a kind heart and was always willing to help those in need. She was active in raising money for the disabled. She was born Feb. 1, 1947 in Lafayette, the daughter of Gerald E. and Mary Ellen (Stover) Bilyeu. She married Robert A. Marsh June 25, 1995 in Crawfordsville. He survives. She was raised in West Point and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1965. She then graduated with a bachelor of art degree in education from Purdue University in 1969 and later earned her masters degree in education from Purdue. She was an elementary school teacher for 31 years, retiring in 2002. She had taught at Morocco Elementary, East Union, and Sugar Creek Elementary for the North Montgomery School Corporation in Crawfordsville. She was a member of the Stidham United Methodist Church in Lafayette, Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed line dancing and aerobics fitness. She was an avid reader and a member of a local book club. She loved animals, flower gardening and landscaping her new home. Survivors, besides the husband, include: her father; two sons, Troy Tucker, Crawfordsville and Mark (Jackie) Tucker, Darlington; a brother, Arthur "Art" {Linda) Bilyeu, West Point; three step children, Keith Marsh, Loveland, Ohio, David (Virginia) Marsh, Lebanon, and Jeff (Crystal) Marsh, Colfax; and 11 grandchildren, twins Gavin and Bailey Tucker, Tyler, Dean, Bryant, Allissa, Mitchell, Mariah, Joseph, Alex and Jade Marsh. George "Dave" Mason, Sr., 80, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018. Born in Columbia City, Indiana, Dave was the son of the late Henry and Ellen Mae Mason. Dave worked for GE for 35 years. He gave over 50 years of service to the community of New Haven as a Fireman. He served as Fire Chief for 23 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven FOE Aerie 3164, IVFA. Dave enjoyed being outdoors fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Dave and his wife enjoyed their winters in Florida. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Barbara Mason of Fort Wayne; children George (Deb) Mason, Jr., Steven (Kelli) Mason both of New Haven; grandchildren, Jacob (Samantha) Mason, Brittany (Mark) Gerber, Ashley (Justin) Sarrazin, Courtney Mason, Kiersten Nichter, Madison Nichter, Bryce Mason, Paige Mason; five great-grandchildren with a set of twins on the way; sister, Rose (Tony) Cotterman of Fort Wayne; along with many nieces and nephews. Anna Mast, 92, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, died at 2:30 pm, on Thursday, April 12, at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen. She was born on October 2, 1925, in Kosciusko County, to John W. and Sarah (Miller) Yoder. On October 15, 1946 in Elkhart County she married Daniel I. Mast; he died November 23, 2012. Surviving are four daughters, Rose Mary (Robert) Claassen of Lawrence, KS, Judy (Leroy) Hunsberger, Anita Acord, Cherylan (Scot) Shearer all of Goshen; son, Dannie W. (Loretta) Mast of Goshen; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, Katie Stutzman, Lydia Nash and Barbara Yoder, six brothers, Jerry, William, Henry, Jonas, John Edward and Nathanial Yoder. Anna was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church where she was active in the Sewing Circle. She was also active with the Women's Bible Study Fellowship and assisted with the Bible Memory at Camp Amigo. She enjoyed playing games, quilting, gardening and embroidery. She had worked at Krider's Nursery and Gohn Brothers in Middlebury. Anna and her husband had wintered in Sarasota, FL for several years. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday April 15, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home,1003 South Main Street Middlebury. The family will hold a private burial prior to the 11:00 am memorial service on Monday April 16, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastors Tyler Hartford and Ron Deiner.
Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Bible Memory Camp or Mennonite Disaster Service.

A nine-day-old infant, Hank Dillon McCain of Bluffton died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005 at home. Born Aug. 12, 2005, in Bluffton, he was the son of John McCain Jr. and Norma Jean Van Horn of Bluffton. In addition to the parents, other survivors include a half sister, Amanda Dooska of Missouri; and two half brothers, Brian McCain of Ohio and John McCain III of South Carolina.

Sister of Mrs. Ron (Bonnie) Burns of Poneto and Mrs. Pat Bales of Liberty Center, Mary J. McCreary, 63, died at her son's home in Riverside, Ohio, at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Born May 29, 1942 in Wells County to Jonathan W. and Edna D. Taylor Butler, she was employed in retail sales for Zale's Corp. Survivors include the son, Dave McCreary, a daughter, Diane Chalfant of Farmland; two other sisters, Sandra Bryant, Little Rock, Ark., and Carolyn Butler, Florida; a brother, James Butler of Libby, Mont.; and six grandchildren. A son, Lynn Said, preceded her in death.
There will be no services or visitation. Arrangements are in charge of Goodwin Memorial Chapel.

Services were held at 2 p.m. today at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel in Marion for Relna May McVay, 90, who died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Rolling Meadows Health Care Center in LaFontaine. She was the mother of the late Robert E. "Bob" McVay, who was well known throughout this area for his impersonation of the singer Elvis Presley. She is survived by a son, Harold M. "Bud" McVay of Marion; a brother, Wayne Working, of Treaty;
two sisters, Elizabeth Marie Warner of Gas City and Nina June Rouch of Banquo, 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Robert E. "Elvis" McVay, 61
A noted Elvis Presley impersonator for many years, Robert E. "Bob" "Elvis" McVay, 61, of rural Marion, died June 13, 2005, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Born in Grant County, he was the son of Harold E. and Reina May Working McVay and was a life resident of Grant County. His mother survives at LaFontaine. He was a 1962 graduate of Van Buren and served for six years in the Indiana National Guard. He married Bluffton native Cindy J. Dohrman-Masterson on October 4, 1997. She survives. He worked for several years at RCA and retired from Marion General Motors in 2001 after 33 years. He was a member of the General Motors Sympathy Club, United Auto Workers and Mount Olive United Methodist Church. Always interested in Elvis, he gave his first performance as Elvis at his 25th class reunion. He was to appear on stages as Elvis from Grant County fairs to Las Vegas and more. In national competition he typically placed in the top 10 percent and earned the “Spirit of Elvis†award at the Elvis World Wide Competition in Memphis in 2001.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Mrs. Rich (Shawntelle Chere) Mathieson of Fort Greeley, Alaska, and Mrs. Brian (Michelle Fabre) Moriarity of Cape Coral, Florida, a brother, Harold McVay of Marion; two step-daughters, Bethy Russell of Marion and Mrs. Timothy (Christina) Echelbarger of Bluffton, and five grandchildren, and his former wife, Beverly McVay of Cape Coral, Florida. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Lee McVay. Services were at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Barton officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memory Cemetery, Huntington.

The mother of Mrs. William (Mary Ellen) Demetre of Ossian, Elizabeth (Char) Charlayne Mills, 73, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, July 21, at her residence in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Mills formerly lived in Ossian. She was a waitress at the Dutch Mill in Bluffton, and also worked in the packaging department at Tuthill Pump. She retired in 1993. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Fremont. Born March 1, 1932, in Buck Run, Pa., to Frank and Harriet Hall, she is survived by three children: her Ossian daughter and two sons, Steven Mills of Fort Wayne and S. David Mills of Auburn; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home in Fort Wayne. Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour before the funeral Monday at the funeral home.

A native of Bluffton, Bernadine K. Nahrwold, 68, New Haven, died Sunday, June 5, at Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven. She is survived by her husband Robert; two sons, Anthony and Matthew, both of Fort Wayne; a brother Maxwell Steffen of Bluffton; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sherm Steffen. She was the daughter of Daniel and Priscilla Steffen. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran Church with calling one hour prior to services. Calling will also be held Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, New Haven, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

WILLIAMSPORT - George Nick Paulson, 73, 110 Maple Cove, Williamsport, died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001 in the V.A. Medical Center, Danville, Ill., following a lengthy illness from Alzheimer's disease. He was born Aug. 17, 1927 in Marion, Ohio, the son of. Nicholas and Jean Ring Paulson. He married Carolyn Joan Borst Sept. 26, 1964 in Belmont, Calif. She survives. He was raised in Marion, where he graduated from Marion Catholic High School in 1994. He graduated from Dennison University in 1949. He formerly lived in San Francisco, but resided most of his life in Saratoga, Calif. He moved to Williamsport in 1996. He was an airlines pilot with Trans World Airlines (TWA) from 1955 until his retirement as captain in 1986. He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Navy during World War II and of the Korean Conflict serving in the Marine Corps. He was a pilot during the Korean Conflict and flew the F9F Panther. His hobbies included model airplanes and a youth soccer coach and soccer referee. He was an avid reader of history. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two sons, George Christopher (Mary) Paulson, Coralville, Iowa and Nicholos Gregory (Keri) Paulson, Truckee, Calif.; and a sister, Rosemary (Roy) Schweinfurth, Prospect, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from noon until service time at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. G. Scott Pattison officiating. A former resident of Chester Twp., Ruth Mae Payne, 90, died at the Warren United Methodist Memorial Home at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27. Born in Delaware County Aug. 20, 1914 to Abraham W. and Ola Grace Jordan VanNatter, she married Luther Kelso Payne in Muncie July 9, 1932. He preceded her in death Jan. 31, 1984. A member of Southern Wells Community Church and United Methodist Women, she retired from Franklin Electric in 1977. Survivors include two sons, Richard L. of St. Cloud, Fla. and Kenneth L. of Valrico, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Howard Jr. (June) Quillen of Hartford City; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Juanita Caldwell; two brothers, Francis and Harvey VanNatter; two sisters, Edna Hammond and Betty Lynn; and two half-sisters, June Reinbolt and Helen Reynolds, all preceded her in death. Services at 10 a.m. Saturday will be at Glancy Funeral Homes-Walker Chapel under the direction of Pastors Steve Criffield and Jerry VanNatter. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Fairmount. Phrena Iva Pearson, 82, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at her residence in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Wells County May 24, 1923, she was a daughter of G. Harold and Violet C. Ruse Noonan. Her marriage was on July 5, 1941, in Bluffton to Everett W. “Swede†Pearson, who preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1988. She was a 1941 graduate of Bluffton High School and a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Surviving are a son, Kit Pearson of Cincinnati; a sister, Mrs. Waldo (Doris) Wolf of Bluffton and two brothers, Don of Texas and Harold Noonan Jr. of Florida. There are numerous other relatives including a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jack (Joan) Peterson of Bluffton. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Christian Fellowship Church,

BLOOMINGTON - Ralph C. "Sonny" Perry, 72, Rt. 1, Bloomingdale, died at 7:28 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 in Vermillion County Hospital, Clinton. He was born Sept. 22, 1928 in Cates, the son of William and Minnie E. Allen Perry. He married Aileen M. Myers Nov. 27, 1954 in Covington. She survives. He attended Cates schools. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Millwrights Local 1003 after 18 years of service, he owned several garages. He was a school bus driver for both Turkey Run schools and Grange Corner and worked for the railroad for several years. He was a member of the Clinton American Legion Post #0140, Amvete Post 61, the Rockville VFW and the Millwrights Local #1003. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Judy M. Kelley, Rockville; a brother, Edwin Leon Perry, Kingman; four sisters, Geneva Beals, Veedersburg, Connie (Leslie) Warnick, Kingman, Ramona Stonebraker, Kingman and Maxine Wilson, Seffner, Fla.; two granddaughters, Lee Stockdale and Vicki Kelley; a grandson, Vance Kelley; two great-grandsons, Jeff Stakley and Curtis Compton; two great-granddaughters, Amanda Stakley and Alexis Kelley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Farrell, Ted, Gene and Gerald Perry. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hall· Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman, with Bob Grider officiating. Burial was in Wolfe Creek Cemetery, Wallace.

Levi J. Raber, 79, of Topeka, died at 5:56 pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at his residence. He was born on August 12, 1938 in LaGrange County to John and Anna (Yoder) Raber. On March 9, 1967 in LaGrange County he married Betty Bontrager, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are four daughters, Edna Sue (Ervin) Yoder, Inez (Harley) Yoder, Kathryn (David) Borkholder all of Topeka, Anna Marie (Perry) Miller of Shipshewana; 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Ervin (Clara) Raber of Shipshewana, Monroe (Naomi) Raber of Topeka; sister, Ida (Levi) Miller of Shipshewana; brother-in-law, Mel (Alice) Frey of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matthew Yoder; two sisters, Edna Frey and Sue Troyer. Levi was a retired farmer and had also done concrete and masonry work. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, and all day Friday, April 13, at the David Borkholder residence, 8605 West 300 South Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, April 14, at the same residence.
Services will be conducted by the home ministers. Burial will be in Bontrager Cemetery, Shipshewana.

She was born on December 29, 1945, in Niles, MI, to Russell and Mabel (Westfall) Smith. On May 5, 1986 in LaGrange she married Jerry Rathke; he died July 14, 2017. Surviving are two daughters, Kristine (Christopher) Smith of Mecosta, MI, Jennifer Miller of Lawton, MI; son, Bradley (Christina) Nickell of Bremen; eight grandchildren, Caitlin Smith, Bryce and Dmitri Nickell, Leah and Seth Miller, Antwon, Andre, and Janay Hilson; seven great grandchildren; mother, Mabel Todd of Middlebury; sister, Regina (David) Stevenson of Angola; brother, David Smith of Thousand Palms, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry L. Rathke and father, Russell Smith. She worked at Coachmen Industries in Middlebury for over 30 years as well as The Blue Gate Craft Barn and the Furniture Store in Shipshewana. She adored her children and grandchildren, spending much of her time with them. Marilyn loved planting and caring for the beautiful plants and flowers in her yard. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 pm on Friday, April 13 followed by a 2:00 pm memorial service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ron Russell.

Ralph "Rock" Ray, Jr., 85, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018. Born in Tipton, Indiana, Rock was the son of the late Ralph Sr. and Edna Ray. Rock graduated from Portland High School, and then served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Ball State University and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Rock began his career at General Motors in Muncie, Indiana. In 2001, he retired from Liberty Homes of Goshen, Indiana, after 33 years. He was a member of Sonrise Church, and was an active participant in the church's long-time support of Operation Christmas Child - Samaritan's Purse. Rock enjoyed spending time on the beach (an appreciation he acquired while stationed on Midway Island), summers in Northern Michigan, and traveling with his wife & longtime friends. He had a particular passion and skill for playing practical jokes on his children and grandchildren. Above all else, he loved being with his family. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Sandra Ray of Fort Wayne; children, David (Sarah) Mahorney of Ulysses, KS, Elizabeth (Jay) Reynolds of Lafayette, Michael (Amy) Ray, Bryan (Kathy) Ray both of Fort Wayne, Becky (Tim) Warton of Broomfield, CO, Amy (Jeff) Hodgson of Syracuse; 27 grandchildren (aka "Turkeys"); and 11 great-grandchildren. Rock was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tara, and brothers, John & Richard. A private Graveside Service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Scott Pattison officiating. Mrs. Pearl A. Reed, 85, of 331 North 11th street, widow of Charles E. Reed, died at 12:01 a.m. today at the Adams county memorial hospital, where she had been a patient for one week. She was born in Dixon, O., Jan. 20, 1887, a daughter of Thomas and Lillie Gilbert-Singer. Her husband, Charles E. Reed, preceded her in death in 1927. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Nuttman Avenue United Brethren church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Iva Bayman of South Whitley, and Mrs. Corvin (Carol) Boyer of Fort Wayne; two sons, Merrill (Jack) Reed of Decatur, and Floyd Reed, principal of the Northwest elementary school; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Winteregg-Linn funeral home, with Rev. Sylvester Martin officiating.

Judy D. Rhymer, 69, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2018, at Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room after being stricken at home. Her death was unexpected. She was born on April 2, 1949 in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Chester Rhymer and the late Carrie (Messer) Rhymer. She was united in marriage to Richard "Rick" Rhymer on August 25, 1990 at East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville. She was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church and a former member of the Faith Christian Church in Auburn. Judy was a homemaker. She was formerly employed at Wal-Mart in Decatur and also at what is now known as R3 Composites in Grabill. Judy enjoyed visiting flea markets and garage sales. She treasured her time with her children and grandchildren. Baking, cooking, and decorating her house were important to her and her grandchildren helped her and learned from her. Survivors include her husband, Rick Rhymer of Monroeville; three daughters, Karrie Carpenter of Columbia City, Cassandra Crozier of Decatur, & Brandy Krauss of Garrett; brother, Earl Rhymer of Convoy, OH; two sisters, Maxine (John) Mohr & Pauline (George Mohr) Clevenger both of Monroeville; ten grandchildren, Courtney Pebley, Austin Krauss, Dylan Aker, Dakota Combs, Kordell Penland, Madison Krauss, Kennedy Penland, Hunter Combs, Haley Penland, and Thomas Ketron; & two great-grandchildren, Cruz Aker & Aubree Krauss. Terry L. Rigsby, age 68 of Fort Wayne passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born in Auburn on July 29, 1949 to Chester and Willa Donellda (Brand) Rigsby. Terry was a 1967 graduate of Ashley High School. He married Denise Botset on June 14, 1970 at the Ashley Church of God. She resides in Fort Wayne. Terry worked for Messenger Corporation in Auburn for 35 years as a shipping clerk from 1967 to 2003. He then worked as a security guard for 5 years at DeKalb Memorial Hospital from 2004 until retiring in 2009.
Before moving to Fort Wayne Terry attended the Independent Full Gospel Church in Ashley. Once they moved to Fort Wayne he and Denise attended the Tillman Road Church of God in Fort Wayne. In his spare time Terry enjoyed watching Judge Judy and car races on TV. He also liked going to tractor and horse pulls. More than anything Terry enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors Include: His wife; Denise Rigsby of Fort Wayne. Son; Rodney Rigsby of Fort Wayne. Daughter and son-in-law; Terra and Scott Miller of Fort Wayne. 5 grandchildren; Taylor Rigsby, Macy Rigsby, Brooke Rigsby, Autumn Rigsby and Rocket Rigsby. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Connie Rigsby-Nash. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Waterloo. Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Bill Bradley and Pastor Sam Weimer. Burial will take place at Hill Side Cemetery in Pleasant Lake.

OAKWOOD - Doscia R. Rodgers, 107, of Oakwood, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Colonial Manor Nursing Center in Danville. Doscia was born Feb. 8, 1899, in Covington, Ind., the daughter of Sylvester and Della Mae Jones Rhodes. She married Russell B. Rodgers on June 28, 1923, in Veedersburg, Ind. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1985. Doscia was also preceded by three brothers and two sisters. Surviving is a host of friends that will miss her. Doscia and her husband farmed the Oakwood area for many years and also owned and operated Rodgers Grain Co from 1926-1959. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. Doscia was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star of Illinois serving as worthy matron of the Oakwood Chapter 812 in 1934, past member of the Danville Woman's Club and a life member of the Vermilion County Museum. Marjorie "Marge" C. (Hoevel) Rosswurm, 90, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, she was the daughter of Cletus and Adelaide Hoevel, Marge married her high school sweetheart, Kenny, now deceased, and led a life devoted to God, her husband, and five children. Marge enjoyed family gatherings, a good euchre game, and traveling. Danny D. Royce, 84, of Bristol died at 2:25 am on Sunday at Courtyard of Goshen. He was born on July 2, 1933 in Mishawaka to Marion and Gertrude (Parks) Royce. On November 23, 1964 in Ligonier he married Annetta M. Lengacher, she died February 28, 2016. Surviving are two sons, Mark (Julie) Royce of Middlebury and Doug Royce of Bristol; two grandchildren, Adrian (Annie Orrill) Royce and Madeline Royce; two brothers, Oliver (Mary) Royce and Jack Royce all of Elkhart; sister, Norma Stoltzfus of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Chuck Royce, two sisters, Betty Farrell and Nancy Walker. Danny was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army from 1957 to 1959, he was a member of the American Legion Post #210, Middlebury and of the DAV of Elkhart; he served on the color guard team for both organizations. He was a member of the 40 & 8 club of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping and working in the lawn and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Danny had worked for 44 years at Mogul Rubber of Goshen as a press operator. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 -7:30 pm on Wednesday, May 2, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 pm also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Rich Troyer.

David Brooke Ryan Sr., of Waterloo, Indiana passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of Friday, April 6, 2018. Previously residing in Angola and originally from Clarysville, Maryland, David moved to Indiana to attend Tri-State College in the sixties. He cooked and managed at Azar's Big Boy Restaurant where he met his first wife and mother of his children, Jan Morley (Wilson). David ran his own auto shop; Ryan's 4 Cylinder Motors and worked at a variety of other auto shops over the years as a mechanic including Hires Auto Parts and Vorderman Volkswagen. He was also an amateur race car driver in the 1970s. He built his own racecars, specializing in Volvos, and would drive to races with Jan, in a school bus whose seats had been removed to make room for his racecar.
David was an excellent chef and loved preparing nutritious and delicious food for his guests. He owned a small restaurant in the 1980's called Ellis Restaurant. His other hobbies included gardening, canning, photography, cheese making, and watching sports. He rarely missed Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts football games or Indiana Hoosier basketball. He also never missed either of his son's sporting events or concerts. He was an excellent father; stern when necessary, but consistent and supportive. David was very well read and instilled a love of learning in both of his sons. David had a high regard for nature and took his sons to hike often as well as yearly vacations to national parks. He had a love for music and his favorite artists included Willie Nelson, The Beatles, and Jerry Jeff Walker. David remarried in the early 2000s to Cathy Creamer, proprietor of Smith Tavern in Waterloo, Indiana. They also took yearly trips together to rustic locales. Surviving relatives include a brother, Dick Ryan, sisters Linda Barry and Diane Roberts, wife, Cathy Ryan, sons Brooke and Ruben Ryan, and granddaughter Zora Lee. He will be dearly missed. Services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 4:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo.

WILLIAMSPORT - Mary M. (Kennedy) Shamp, 87, Williamsport, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1919 in Warren County, the daughter of Miles Andrew and Jessie D. (Keister) Kennedy. She married George A. Shamp Dec. 5, 1936. He preceded in death Feb. 9, 2000. She attended Williamsport High School. Before moving back to Warren County in 1956 she lived in Miami County, for seven years. She worked for RMC in Attica and then went to work for General Electric in Danville, Ill., retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #3318, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #259 of Williamsport. Survivors include: three sons, Richard "Dick" Shamp, Houston, Texas, Roger Shamp, Clovis, N.M., and Ralph (Sheri) Shamp, Williamsport; a daughter, Barbara (Jarrell) Florey, Williamsport; two brothers, Miles (Rovene) Kennedy and Fred (Pat) Kennedy, both of Williamsport; four sisters, Delilah Lucas, Alta (Dick) Wagner, Betty Bennett, and Shirley (Chuck) Borst, all of Williamsport; 17 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kate Kinneer; a brother, Harrison Kennedy; and a daughter-in-law, Arlene Shamp. Visitation will be from noon until service time at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Revs. Jerry Miller and Paul Stamm officiating. Michael A. Shuttleworth, 42
The brother of Matt Shuttleworth of Warren, Michael A. Shuttleworth, 42, of Huntertown, died in his residence Friday, July 29. Mr. Shuttleworth was a longtime Warren resident. He was the owner of Shuttleworth Tree Service in Warren for many years and also did carpentry work in the area. He was born July 9, 1963, in Huntington, to Don Shuttleworth and Barbara Beavans Falk. In addition to his brother in Warren, he is survived by a daughter, Christina Tuell of Hartford City; a brother, Mark Shuttleworth of Van Buren; and three sisters, Mrs. Bob (Dawn) Eloph of Kimmell, Mrs. Ron (Jennifer) Minick of Roanoke and Ann of Fort Wayne. WILLIAMSPORT - William Floyd "Bill" Siefke, 63, husband of Pauline (Wolf) Siefke, a former Williamsport resident, died at his home in Aurora, Ore., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000. Death was sudden and unexpected. He was born Jan. 25, 1937 in Chehalis, Wash., the son of Louis F. and Lydia M. Haase Siefke. He married Pauline Wolf July 15, 1967 in Williamsport. She survives. He lived in Anchroage, Alaska for 40 years before moving to Aurora in 1995. He graduated from Olympia High School in 1955 and attended Anchorage Community College. He served in the U. S. Army as a communications technician and was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage. Upon discharge, he stayed in Alaska and was employed by Chevron USA as an engineer technologist for 28 years, retiring in 1987. His retirement hobby was woodworking with special emphasis on wood art. He was a Little League softball coach for 10 years while in Anchorage. He was a member of the Chevron Retirees Association and the AARP. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Michelle (Roger) Davis, rural Williamsport; a son, Michael W. (Amy) Siefke, Yukon, Okla.; two grandchildren, Brandi C. and Craig A. Davis, rural Williamsport; a brother, LeRoy L. Siefke, Auburn, Wash.; and a sister, Wilma Clark, Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by an infant child and a brother, Merrill. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Bryce Wiley officiating. Burial was in West Lebanon Cemetery.

Markle resident Ann E. Sills, 62, died this morning, June 10, at 1:05 a.m., at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born Oct. 8, 1942, in Huntington to Clyde R. and Bertha E. Prickett Wilson, she married Isaac W. Sills, June 30, 1972, in Roanoke. He preceded her in death May 6, 2002. She worked at Memcor for 10 years and was retired from Magnetek in Huntington. She also held a paper route for the Huntington Herald-Press and Fort Wayne Newspapers. A 1960 graduate of Andrews High School, she was a member of the Markle Church of Christ. She is survived by two sons, Roger of Indianapolis and Norman of Huntington; a daughter, Vicky Sills of Fort Wayne; a brother, Keith Wilson of Wabash; a sister Nancy King of Yakima, Wash.; and five grandchildren. Services at 1 p.m. Monday will be under the direction of Mark Cleaveland and Troy Mower at Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.

Doris Sprunger, 96, of Berne and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne, on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Born on March 5, 1922 in Monroe Township near Berne, Doris was a daughter of Jonas and Zilla (Gilliom) Sprunger. Doris attended her neighborhood No. 8 Sprunger Country School for eight years, before graduating from Monroe, Indiana High School in 1940. Always outstanding in math, Doris graduated from International Business College in Fort Wayne in 1944. Doris had a stellar work record, beginning at Decatur Super Service. In Fort Wayne, Doris worked twenty-seven years at Meyers & McCarthy, and then at Dulin, Ward & DeWald, serving as a bookkeeper/accountant for each firm. After completing a course with H & R Block, Doris used the earned credentials to become a tax preparer, for over twenty years. Doris continued working part time into her eighties after retirement.
In the fall of 2010, Doris moved from Fort Wayne to a lovely apartment in Swiss Village Retirement Center in her home town of Berne, where she enjoyed the loving Swiss Village staff, being near relatives, renewing acquaintances, making new friends, reading and watching tv sports. Upon her profession of faith in Jesus Christ, Doris was baptized on May 31, 1936. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. Doris is survived by her sister Berneta (Sprunger) Yager and sister-in-law Alice (Merlin) (Neuenschwander) Sprunger, both of Berne. Many adoring, grateful nieces and nephews, scattered throughout the States, also survive. Doris will be remembered by friends and relatives for her sweet spirit, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Preceding Doris in death were six brothers: Freadus, Lowell, Otis, Loren, Merlin K. and Verne Sprunger and her sister, Margaret Eggers. A Celebration of Doris' life is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 in Swiss Village Chapel in Berne, with calling at 1:00pm and service at 2:00pm. Doris' cousin, Rev. Jerry Flueckiger will officiate. Holly Stephens, 9, dies at hospital
Holly Jane Stephens, nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Stephens, 3233 Sandhill drive, Fort Wayne, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Lutheran hospital, where she had been a patient for 11 days. The child had been ill since last September. Holly was a third-grade student at Indian Village school and was a member of Girl Scout troop 479. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where she participated in the church and junior choirs. Surviving are her parents, James. A. and Beulah Jane Bertsch-Stephens; a brother Thomas James, 10, the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bertsch, Sr., of Decatur route 4; and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Stephens of Secane, Pa. An uncle, Rev. William Bertsch of Wanatah, was formerly pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Convoy, O., and St. John's at Bippus.

He worked as a farmer and rancher. Stanley married Gwana (Slape) Stutzman June 3, 1966 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Stanley spent the majority of his lifetime in the Pryor community. In 1995, he moved to Indiana. He returned to Pryor in 2014. Stanley was a member of Abundant Life Ministries in Elkhart, Indiana. Stanley enjoyed watching television, especially Gunsmoke; he loved farming and ranching, and spending time with his family. She graduated from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating, she enlisted and served in the US Army Medical Corps during WWII in North Africa and Europe. She met Bob Swindler while both were stationed in North Africa, and were married after the War. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother to her family. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and St. Vincent de Paul Society. WEST LEBANON - Loretta Pearl (Salts) Taylor, 93, West Lebanon and a former resident of Speedway, died at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000 in Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. She had been in failing health the past nine years. She was born Sept. 9, 1907 at Ft. Harrison, Marion County, the daughter of William F. and Mary Amanda Kelly Salts. She married Henry V. Taylor, Dec. 23, 1933 in Danville, Ill., an owner and operator of a garage and a contractor (union carpenter), who survives. She graduated from West Lebanon High School in 1924 and attended Danville Business College. She had lived in Warren County for 24 years before moving to Speedway in 1947. She was a stenographer and bookkeeper and was first employed at the Warren County Courthouse and Extension Service. She was later employed at the Indiana State Library and State House for 50 years. She was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway and the International Secretary's Association. Survivors, besides the husband, include: several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) with Rosary service at 7:45 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Francis Xavier Church in Attica, with the Rev. Charles L. Kline officiating.

Edward E. Thompson, 66
A mechanic for over 23 years at Melching Machine Shop, Edward E. Thompson, 66, of Craigville, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, at Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a graduate of Gary E. Wood High School in Indianapolis and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bluffton. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of service from 1955 to 1959. Born June 6, 1939, in Indianapolis, he was a son of John H. and Nellie Nichols Thompson. Surviving are one son, Edward E. Thompson II of Craigville; four brothers, John Thompson of Florida, William Thompson of Indianapolis, Harry Thompson of Alaska and Russell Thompson of Greenfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosemary Hawkins of Indianapolis and Mrs. E. W. (Katherine) Barrett of Ossian.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m.Wednesday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel. There will be no funeral services or burial.

Madaline G. Thompson, 83
A former president of the American Business Women in Bluffton, Madaline G. Thompson, 83, of Warren, died at her home at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13. Mrs. Thompson worked at Franklin Electric in Bluffton for 17 years and then worked in the finance office at Huntington University. She was also a member of the American Baptist Women. She held several offices in the association and State American Baptist Churches of Indiana. She attended Liberty Center Baptist Church. Born March 7, 1922, in Dillman to Homer and Edith Mann Elwood, her marriage in Liberty Center on Nov. 28, 1959, was to Wendell S. Thompson, who survives. Additional survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Max (Patty) Boxell of Warren, Mrs. Dennis (Connie) Carpenter of Charleston, S.C., and Louanne Kaye of Warren; two brothers, Eugene Elwood of Greenwood and John Elwood of Portland; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Elwood and Madonna Grim, and a grandson. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Glancy Funeral Homes - H. Brown & Son Chapel in Warren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Liberty Center Baptist Church with pastor Dan Sommer officiating.

Phyllis Timm, (87), went home to be with her Lord on March 31, 2018. She resided the last 2 1/2 years at Golden Years Homestead. She was born to Lester and Marie Van Winkle in Monon, Indiana, on July 9, 1930. The family moved multiple times during her childhood, as Lester worked for a construction company in western Indiana and eastern Illinois. The family eventually settled in Tuscola, Illinois. She was a cheerleader for elementary and high school athletic teams and was crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year. Phyllis attended Eastern Illinois University until her marriage in 1950 to George Timm, also of Tuscola. She and George and their family lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Clinton, Illinois, the Chicago area suburbs in Illinois, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada before settling in Fort Wayne in 1971 where she worked as an office manager. Phyllis and George have three children: Jean Ann (Douglas) Deller, Fort Wayne; David Van (Cyndy) Timm, Fort Wayne; and Mark Edwin (Lynn) Timm, Hartselle, Alabama. She and George have five granddaughters, three grandsons and twelve great-grandchildren. Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Northeast Christian Church. Marvin A. Towell Sr., age 91, 1383 North US 27 Portland passed away Saturday evening at Swiss Village in Berne. He was born in Randolph County July 27, 1926 the son of Harold and Vera (Stauffer) Towell. He was married to Mary Jones in 1951 and she died in 1983, he then married Nadine Hoskins in 1985 and she survives. He was a WW II US Navy veteran and 1945 graduate of Bryant High School. He was a member of American Legion Post 777 in Redkey and The Rock Church in Portland. He retired from Indiana Department of Transportation and worked 32 years at Jay County Farm Bureau Co-op. He was a lifetime member of Miami Valley Coin and Relic Hunters Club, Federation of Metal Detector and Archeological Club and Jay County Historical Society. Surviving are his wife Nadine, one son M. Allen Towell (wife Debbie) of Portland, Five step-children Wanda Ballard (husband Darrell) of Parrish, FL., Marilyn McCord (husband Russell) of Fort Wayne, Harold Towell (wife Sandy) of Portland, Charles Towell of Geneva and Margaret Lane of Rock Hill, SC. One brother Elvin Towell of Portland, Half-brother Roy Emery of Ft. Recovery, Ohio, Two sisters Ruth McMichael of Lebanon, Ohio and Clara Reitenour (husband George) of Cookeville, TN., Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by step-son John Towell. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 AM in the Rock Church with Pastor Mark Hinshaw presiding. Robert V. Travis, 70, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, July 21, in Wells County following a plane crash southwest of Bluffton near Miller Airport. Mr. Travis was employed by International Harvester Company for 30 years and I.T.T. for nine and one-half years. He was a member of American Legion 296 and C-40 Flying Club. Born Oct. 31, 1934, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Lewis and Forest Dinger Travis. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn K. Travis of Fort Wayne; sons Todd Travis of New Haven, Wade Travis of Huntertown, and Clint Travis of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters Mrs. Tom (Valerie) Leppek of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. (Greg) Michelle Carnes of St. Joe; a brother, Willard Travis of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Beverly Pabst of Fort Wayne; and eight grandchildren. Mark A. Troder, age 61 of Butler passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at The Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home in Butler. He was born in Bryan, Ohio on April 9, 1956 to Paul and Betty (Fluttrow) Troder. Mark married Kathie L. Gaff on October 7, 1978 at the Lick Creek Church of the Brethren in Bryan, Ohio. She resides in Butler. He worked for Allied Moulded Products in Bryan for several years before starting his own business. Mark has owned and operated Paragon Custom Plastics in Bryan for last 35 years. He was a member of the Butler Church of the Nazarene. Mark truly enjoyed being outdoors and he was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors Include:

Marsha J. Turner, 70, of Bluffton passed away on Thursday evening, April 19, 2018, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Marsha was born in Fort Wayne on July 7, 1947. Her parents were Robert & Virginia Mae (Hamilton) Close and Wava Close. She graduated from Ossian High School in 1965 and earned her A.S. Degree in Business from Phoenix University. She retired in administration from SafeCo and also operated a day care for many years. Survivors include her son, Jason (Diane) Turner of Noblesville, a daughter Jo Dee Turner of Laveen, AZ. and son, Jeff Turner of Katy, TX, along with two grandsons, Alex Turner & Kyle Turner and a granddaughter Kelli Turner. Marsha is also survived by a sister Cathy (John) Neu of Liberty Center and two brothers; Wayne (Jann Prince) Close of Markle and Dick (Dorothy) Close of Fort Wayne. She is preceded in death by a sister Virginia Merritt and two brothers; John Close & Donald Close.

Born July 28, 1982 in Marion to James Joseph and Mary Lee Voland, he worked at Heartland Aluminum in Warren and was a member of the Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene in Warren. In addition to his parents, he is survived by brothers Jason and Jeremy Voland and Zeb Whinery, all of Warren; grandmother Evelyn Bailey of Warren and several uncles, an aunt and a niece.
His grandfather, Roy A. Bailey, preceded him in death. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday under the direction of Pastor Bill Keen will be at the Glancy Funeral Homes-H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren. WILLIAMSPORT - Terry Lee Walker, 41, formerly of 425 E. Fourth St., Williamsport, and had been residing in Ashdown, Ark., since January, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 in Texarkana, Ark. He was born July 23, 1958 in Terre Haute, the son of Jack Arlon and Phyllis Ann Johnson Walker. He married Judy Brandenburg in 1978 in Williamsport. He formerly lived in Wingate and had resided in Williamsport for 25 year before moving to Ashdown. He was a 1977 graduate of Seeger Memorial High School. While living in Williamsport he worked as a welder at Good Roads, Inc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhart. He loved his pet cat, Nig. Survivors, include: his mother, Phyllis Walker, Perrysville; four sons, Scott, Keith and Jerry Walker, all of Attica; Jason Walker, Kokomo; a brother, Tim Walker, Williamsport; and two sisters, Brenda (Mark) Mitton, Williamsport, and Misty (Roger) Beedle, Attica. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Kevin Walker. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Marcos Gilmore officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Williamsport.

Tenney Glenn White, 81
The father of Mrs. Craig (Elizabeth) Leonard of Bluffton, Tenney Glenn White, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at Parkview Hospital. Born Jan. 4, 1924, in Fort Wayne, he was the elder son of Walter "Whitey" and Routh Culp White. He was a graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His marriage to Dorothy Phyllis Schuerenberg, who preceded him in death, was on March 10, 1951. A piano tuner by profession and the owner of Summit String Service until retiring in 1998, he also was a musical instrument technician with the Fort Wayne Community Schools for 36 years. An accomplished musician on trombone and baritone, he played with the Mizpah Shrine Band and American Legion Post 47 Band for many years. He was a member of Home Lodge #342 F&AM, Scottish Rite and York Rite, a charter member of Aldersgate Methodist Church and attended Tri-Lakes Baptist Church in Columbia City. Surviving, in addition to the Bluffton daughter, are two sons, Tenney G. White II of Sikeston, Missouri, and Nevin White of Mt. Dora, Florida; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his former wife, Carol Nebehy of Chicago. Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, Phyllis, was a brother, Walter Dean White. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.

WILLIAMSPORT - Christine (Marks) Wolf, 80, a longtime resident of rural Williamsport, died at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2001 in Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. She had been a resident there the past 2 1/2 months. She was born Oct. 1, 1920 in West Point, Tippecanoe County, the daughter of Floyd and Ethel Hawkins Marks. She married Merle Wolf April 29, 1939 in West Point. He preceded in death Jan. 8, 2000. She was a graduate of West Point High School. She was a homemaker, school bus driver and helped her husband on the farm and with custom butchering. She loved to travel and sewed for Shorty Wolf. She served as a 4-H Leader with her husband for 12 years. She was a member of the West Point United Methodist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Aldean (Robert) Criswell, rural Attica and Pauline (late husband, Bill) Siefke, Williamsport; a son, Gene (Janet) Wolf, Williamsport; a brother, Russell Marks, Attica; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Marks; and her step mother, Barbara Grimes. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Grady-Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial was in West Lebanon Cemetery.

Timmy Zeigler, 57, of rural Churubusco, passed away at 3:33 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his home. Born on May 12, 1960 in Columbia City. Timmy was the only son of Allen and Marilyn "Jeanie" Zeigler. He spent his formative years on the family farm and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1979. He worked at Smith - Green Community Schools for 28 ½ years. Timmy enjoyed tractor pulls and even pulled his own tractors. He enjoyed going to the Whitley County 4-H fair to support his nieces and nephews. Timmy is survived by his parents, Allen and Jeanie Zeigler of Churubusco; three sisters, Vickie (Roger) Hadley II of Woodburn, Pamela (Jerry) Ott of Churubusco and Brenda (Steve) Cormany of Columbia City; two nieces and five nephews. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Calling also one hour prior to the service at the church. Auburn - Fletta L. (Griggs) Zerns, 80, died Wednesday April 25, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She was born January 2, 1938 in Randolph County, IN to Aubrey and Marguerite (Townsend) Griggs. Fletta was a 1956 Graduate of Riverdale High School and a 1959 Diploma Nursing Program Graduate of Parkview Methodist School of Nursing. She was a registered Nurse for 50 years. She worked in a number of local Hospitals including Souder Hospital, DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Boulder Colorado Hospitals for a time and then came back to the area and retired from McCray Hospital. While at McCray Hospital she loved the work she did in the Samara Unit. After her retirement she also worked for four years as a teacher's assistant at Creative Playschool in Auburn. She married Eugene E. Zerns on April 3, 1960 in the St. Joe Church of Christ and he survives in Auburn. She is also survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters, Todd E. (Annita) Zerns of Waterloo, Teri L (Von) Timmerman of Auburn, Jon A Zerns of Waterloo, Joel D (Tina) Zerns of Auburn and Heather S.M. He lived in Fort Wayne most of his life. He was a 1980 retiree with 23 years' service as a meat cutter for the Kroger Company; a veteran of World War II and a member of the South Wayne United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marlese; a son, Douglas Shidler of North Webster; a daughter, Susan Zimmerman of Fort Wayne; a stepdaughter, Debra Conway of Fort Wayne; a stepson, Larry High of Huntertown and nine grandchildren. Services are set for 10 am Friday in D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, where calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm today. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials are gifts to South Wayne United
Methodist Church.

Barbara L. Zook, 81, of LaGrange and formerly of Wolcottville died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 12:47 p.m. at her residence. She was born March 3, 1937, in Elkhart to Richard A. and Pauline A. (Whitmyer) Lantz. On December 30, 1955, in Nappanee she married Henry C. Zook. He survives in LaGrange. She was a homemaker. Also surviving are two daughters, Belinda Zook of Avilla and Penny (Ab) Bryant of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a son, Mike Zook of Kendallville and his wife, Tracy Zook of Goshen; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol J. Surls; and two brothers, Millard Edward Lantz and John A. Lantz. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 12p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, with the Rev. Jack Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Shore Mennonite Cemetery at Shipshewana. Pallbearers are Schuyler Geiger, Brenden Geiger, Dustin Miller, Jeremiah Miller, Robbie Bryant, Ron Surls, Jacob Wolfe, John Colgan and Chase Colgan.
