Carl Daniel Gable Jr, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away on July 23, 2019, at Heritage Park Retirement Community. Born on March 10, 1927, in Rockford, Ohio, he was the son of the late, Carl D Gable, and Neola E Bermes. He graduated from South Side High School, Fort Wayne, and immediately enlisted into the Navy to go and fight in WWII, where he served on the Petrof Bay as Secretary to the Captain. Carl had many talents and loves. His most proud moment was when he became an Eagle Scout in 1945. He worked at Magnavox, and then Dana as a supervisor where he later retired. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and was a member for over 50 years, of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid "old school genealogist" where he traipsed many a cemetery with him and took etchings of many headstones. He has over 75 family trees published at the Allen County public library. Carl was a major history buff, and prided himself with his personal library of Civil War, World War 1, World War 2, Lincoln, and War Planes collections. He was also a cartoonist, featuring the infamous "Squeak the Mouse" with "Words of Wisdom". Many of his cartoons ended up in special places such as the Lincoln Museum, and the White House. Carl was a friend to many, and loved to help his community. He was known for a fresh cup of coffee, or a hot bowl of soup, if you stopped to visit or fix something at his home. He would assist the people at the nursing home with cutting their meat, finding them a seat in the dining room, or playing them some dinner music on the piano; and if you were lucky, he might sing you a song or two, always ending with "Home, Home on the Range". He would grow tomatoes, and zinnias every year (even though he hated tomatoes), he just wanted to give them away to his friends. He would sit in his garage, and play his music loud and proud, as he worked on construction projects, with materials from his "dumpster diving escapades" such as tables, bookshelves, or maybe a porch bench. He loved to play Santa Claus for the past 70 years. Three years ago, we retired his old Santa Suit, and sewed him a new one. If given the chance, he would drop a fishing line or go swimming "dead man "float style. He ice-skated well into his 70's at Glenbrook Mall and Franke Park. On December 6, 1968, he married Judith A Click. Carl is survived by Judith; two daughters, Peggy A Gable Miller, of Fort Wayne, and Sharon K GableLeatherman, of Monroeville, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Cleota Margie Gramling (née Potts) of Angola died peacefully on February 27, 2019 at the age of 97. She will be buried next to her beloved husband, L.D. (2007) and her daughter, Nancy Sue Rockey, (1989) at the Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola. Her eldest child, Carol Louise Stegmoller, preceded her passing (2016). Cleota and L.D. were married in the parsonage at the Church of Christ in Auburn on April 27, 1941 with a nickel in their pockets and dreams of a life together. They enjoyed 66 years of marital bliss which included antiquing, camping, gardening and traveling to visit their children and grandchildren. During their early years, they could be found at 4-H park having a picnic with family and friends. They owned Wearly Monuments in Angola for 20 years. Cleota was born on December 30, 1921 on the family farm near Corunna to Alta Alleva (née Farver) and Samuel Wilson Potts. There was no electricity, running water or phones. Farming was done with horses and cows were milked by hand. Six years later her sister, Lucy, was born and the household soon graduated to the steel-wheeled tractor. Her father's favorite song? You guessed it - - "My Little Margie". Although farm life had its challenges, Cleota remembered it as being fun. She had a dog who skipped rope, a large tree with a swing in the front yard and an apple orchard that provided endless climbing opportunities. She was a trusting dare-devil. For example, her father would tether her by rope and she would climb onto the two-storied barn's roof and extend herself to the opposite side to clean the gutters! Needless to say, she climbed throughout the barn's rafters often playing double-dog-dare-you with a cousin. Cleota attended a one-room school house for her first 8 years of schooling. No electricity or running water; regardless of the weather, she walked a mile to attend school where the room was heated by a pot-bellied stove. Drinking water came from a nearby pump or by melting snow that had been collected. She later graduated from Ashley High School. For many years, Cleota was an active member of the Eastern Stars, Rebecca Lodge and the Pleasant Lake United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grand-mother. A product of the depression, she was a fabulous homemaker and could stretch a nickel far beyond anyone's imagination. Cleota was independent and strong willed but she put the needs of others ahead of her own. Cleota was ambidextrous who could write cursive in mirror image with either hand, and, had memorized 30 nursery rhymes (in a specific order) to ease into her night's sleep; she could start with 1 thru 30, or, reverse that order, or anywhere in between. An avid reader who loved people and conversations. Her favorite television program was the Lawrence Welk Show, or, as she called it, The Bubble Man Show. Her stories, love and compassion will be missed by all of those lives she touched. Cleota leaves two sons. Ron and his wife Cathi in the Dallas, Texas area; Terry and his wife Cyndi in the Houston, Texas area. There are nine grandchildren-Christine Anderson-Sieger, Ron Gramling, Jr., Brian Gramling, Tara Rockey, Stacy Rockey, David Stegmoller, Jeffrey Stegmoller, Kim Foote and Kelley Gramling; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A major debt of gratitude is acknowledged to Stacy and her children, Tori and Trevor, for their daily love, attention and devotion to Grandma's wellbeing; an equal debt of gratitude is also extended to Tara for her love and caring for Grandma. Services will be at Monday, March 4, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson, with Pastor John Boyonowski of the Pleasant Lake United Methodist Church officiating. Calling will be Monday, March 4, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Known to folks as Charles, Charlie, Chuck, CR, Dad, Pop, Opa or Grandpa, Charles Ray Knight was born February 26, 1929, the first son of E. Dale and Shirley Mae (Shanower) Knight in Kendallville, Indiana. Sister Betty and brother Larry followed along over the years. He grew up in Kendallville and frequented his grandparents' farm in Wolcottville. There, he enjoyed spending time with and learning from his grandfather, A. Ray Shanower, and uncle, Wade Shanower, as well as snitching cookies and candies from his great grandmother's cookie jar.
Charles married Blanche Cheatham on September 30, 1956. They settled first in Seymour, Indiana, spent a few years living in Indianapolis, and finally landed in Michigan Center, Michigan, in 1964. Their four children - Ken, Kevin, Shirley Kay, and Karen - completed the family by 1966.
Charles graduated from Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 1950. He worked as a pharmacist in drug stores and later at Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan, until his retirement from the hospital in 1987. Planning for an "early" retirement from pharmacy, he purchased Michigan Center Ace Hardware in the fall of 1986, and ran it until June of 2002.
He was an active member of Rotary International, with over 30 years of perfect attendance accomplished by attending meetings in many far-flung locations across the US, in Canada, and Europe. After retiring a second time, Charles and Blanche built the log home of their dreams on property that has been in his mother's family since 1831. He had hunted in the woods his family called "Shady Cove" with his grandfather and always dreamed of living there. Each corner of the home he designed was lovingly considered and built to stand for many more generations.
Charles was always pondering a new project. All who knew him have stories to tell of his many interests. His children remember camping in the pop-up and later the many happy memories at "the trailer" - later "Pine Oak" on the Pine River in Lake County, Michigan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and passed his love of the outdoors to all his children and grandchildren. He fondly remembered many hunting trips to the west, but especially a trip to British Columbia with Kevin, bringing home a moose and a black bear between them. Charles believed that travel and adventure were crucial to education, and he provided opportunities for his entire family to experience them.
He loved his cars - which included big '50's Buicks of his youth, a '64 Fiat 600, '70 Fiat 850 and especially the '66 & '67 MGBs he had through 2019. In retirement, he took up cooking and approached this with his usual curiosity and ingenuity. He also supported Blanche in her hobby of quilting by constantly engineering new tools, measuring out the next set of blocks, or coming up with ideas to help her in her projects. Everyone who knew him knew they would get good advice - and possibly several follow-ups as new thoughts occurred to him - if they asked him to turn their problem over in what he referred to as "his feeble brain." However one knew Charles Ray Knight, it is certain that their life was better for it.
Charles departed this life on July 22, 2019, passing peacefully in the home that he and Blanche built. Family will gather privately to say their goodbyes. Memorial gifts can be sent to Wood-Land-Lakes RC&D Land Trust (wood-land-lakes.org), or Ducks Unlimited (ducks.org).

A man who loved his family, Mike Losey never wanted to miss an opportunity to have his family around him. He adored his wife, three daughters and his grandson. He was hardworking, adventurous and could easily spark up a conversation with someone he had never met. Amongst everything, he had a heart of gold. The year 1955 saw Rock & Roll music popularity increasing and featured Elvis Presley, Bill Haley and the Comets, Chuck Berry and The Platters. "The Mickey Mouse Club" debuted on ABC, the Broadway musical "Peter Pan" was broadcast live on television, Disneyland opened in California along with Ray Kroc starting the McDonald's fast food restaurant chain. The year also saw tragedy of the popular movie star, James Dean who died in a car wreck not long after laws were put in place requiring seat belts to be installed on all new cars and the start of Vietnam on November 1, 1955. On August 19, 1955 in Hudson, Michigan, the only thing important to Terence Lee Losey and Lorry Ann (Beach) Losey was the announcement of the birth of their second child and only son, Michael Lynn Losey. Mike grew up in Pittsford, Michigan on a rural farm. He loved being outdoors and at an early age enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. Like most farm children, he also learned the value of hard work. While attending Pittsford High School, Mike was involved with the FFA, looked forward to shop class and played football. He would go on to graduate with the Class of 1974. He continued his education and went to journeyman's school to learn the trade and skills of being a tool & die maker; which he did proudly for the next 40 years and always thought every engineer should learn his skill before they start designing projects. Starting his adult work career, Mike first was at Daveco Die in North Adams, Michigan, Amerian Tooling in Jackson, Michigan for over 15 years and would retire from ArcelorMittal in Pioneer, Ohio in 2017. During his career, Mike met a lady that would change his life. On July 29, 1978, he married Lori A. Smith at Pittsford Wesleyan Church. They would welcome three daughters into their heart and home, Heather, Jennifer and Amanda. As a family they would go on adventurous hikes, camping and canoeing. Mike loved taking his girls to Lost Nations in Hillsdale, Hocking Hills, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and relaxed on trips to St. Augustine, Florida where he enjoyed fishing on the beach, unexpectedly catching a small hammerhead shark on one occasion. Family meant so much to Mike and he tried to involve his family with his adventurous side. He involved them by taking them hunting, fishing in the summer and winter and working on cars. Mike also was a woodworker and enjoyed swimming as they lived on Lake Diane. With his daughters all living around the Fort Wayne, Indiana area, Mike and Lori made the decision to sell their lake home. After living the past 11 years on Lake Diane, they moved to Fort Wayne in 2018. They would move one last time together to Columbia City just four months before he unexpectedly passed away at the young age of 63 on Thursday afternoon, August 1, 2019 at his home. Survivors include loving wife of 41 years, Lori Losey; daughters, Heather Losey, Jennifer Losey, both of Fort Wayne and Amanda (Andrew) Potts, of Columbia City; father, Terry (Sheryl) Losey, of Camden, Mich.; mother, Lorry Losey, of Fenton, Mich., sisters, Sandy Easler, Kelli (Tracy) Bowlby and Lesley (Ed) Patow; honorary daughter, Amy Lee "LeeLee"; grandson, Winston Potts; and his beloved chocolate lab, Sargento. A private family service will be held and then a gathering of family and friends will be 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. A celebration of life will take place between 1-4 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2019 in Hillsdale at the Jefferson Township Hall, 2537 S. Bird Lake Road, Osseo, Michigan.
