ZION'S TIDINGS (Handwritten date: February 15, 1950)
MARY ANN HOCHSTETTLER, youngest child of Peter and Barbara Birkey Hochstettler, was born June 20, 1881, in Groveland Township, north of village of Groveland. She resided in the same and on the Hochstettler estate during her entire lifetime.
Bearing her illness with patience for about a year, God called her to himself on Dec. 22, 1949, having attained the age of 68 years, 6 months and 2 days.
She was a faithful and devoted member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church near Groveland. After her education in the rural school near her home, she lived with her parents until their death which occurred in 1924.
Three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Stuckey, Mrs. Katherine Wagler and Miss Lydia Hochstettler, also two brothers, John and Edward, preceded her in death. Surviving are her sister, Susan, two brothers, Joseph and Amos, all of the Groveland vicinity, besides many relatives and friends.
As we are gathered here today
To mourn our sister's going away,
Let us not dwell long upon this theme,
For she has gone to be with Him.
Her going has left an empty place,
She has finished life's rugged race;
Her body lies here in our view,
But her soul is beyond the blue.
God has seen fit to call her above,
As she was a child of His love;
So as we lay her away to rest,
We'll trust the Lord, as He knows best.

Beautiful thoughts are those that bear,
On the wings of love, a silent prayer,
Over the mountains, or over the sea,
That His peace may ever abide with thee,
Abide with thee when the shadows fall,
When the day is done and the night birds call,
When morning comes and shadows flee,
I know that He still will abide with thee.
