Mrs. Leona M. Albin

Wolcott - Leona M. Albin, 82, died Saturday evening in her residence at 3513 N Lanewood, Muncie after an extended illness. Born in Benton County, she lived in Benton and White counties during her childhood and graduated from Wolcott HS in 1927. Mrs. Albin moved to Muncie in 1980 from Henry County where she had lived more than 30 years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Mooreland, Muncie Organ Club, Muncie Career Women's Club and American Association of Retired Persons. There are no immediate survivors Service will be Wednesday in Muncie.

Mrs. Letitia Bartholomew

Centerville - Mrs. Letitia Bartholomew, born in Centerville in 1856, but who has resided in Tipton, for several years, died at the Indiana Christian Hospital in Indianapolis Sunday morning following an operation. Quite a few relatives reside in Wayne County. Funeral services and burial at Centerville Monday afternoon.

Iris May Baughman

Iris May Baughman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Munson Baughman of east of Auburn, was born in DeKalb county, July 3, 1917, and departed this life August 12, 1918. She leaves to mourn their loss the father, mother, two brothers and one sister. Little May was a great sufferer for the past two months. When the gracious Heavenly Father saw that the physical body was growing weaker day by day. He permitted death to release the immortal from the mortal and little May has gone on before, not to be an angel, as many suppose, but to be God's child, awaiting the come of the loved ones who are left behind to mourn. Funeral Services were held in the Norris Chapel church Wednesday morning, Aug. 14, conducted by the Rev. J. W. Ferguson, and burial was made in Woodlawn cemetery.

Antonio Bazzani

Clinton, Ind., Nov 18 - Antonio Bazzani, 73, of 230 North Ninth Street, died Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Vermillion County hospital here. A native of Italy, he had been a resident of this area 52 years. He was a retired coal miner. Mr. Bazzani was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Victor Lodge 553; the Odd Fellows Unity Lodge 827 and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clinton. He is survived by his wife, Caroline; a daughter, Mabel Alice Certain of RR2, West Terre Haute; a son, Fred of Waveland; five grandchildren and two sisters in Italy. The body was taken to the Frist Funeral Home where friends may call after noon Sunday. The funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. Richard Smith officiating.

FORMER ELIZABETH DAILEY DIES AT 84
Word has been received here of the Oct. 3 death of a 1915 Bluffton High School graduate, Mrs. Lloyd (Elizabeth) Beery, 84, who resided at 2445 Roanoke Rd., San Marino, Calif. 91108. Funeral services and burial were in California. A daughter of a former Bluffton dentist, Dr. Lew W. Dailey and his wife, the former Lizzie Rogers, Mrs. Beery and her husband, Lloyd D., who died in March 1979, left Bluffton over 50 years ago. Mrs. Beery was a charter member of Tri-Kappa Sorority. Surviving are two sons, David B. Beery and Lewis Beery, both of California.

Nils A. Bergner

Final Rites Today for Nils Bergner, 85
A native of Sweden, Nils A. Bergner, age 85, passed away in the Dr. Bonnell M. Souder hospital in Auburn at 12:30 am.m. Friday of a complication of diseases. Mr. Bergner had been ill for nearly a month and entered the hospital in Auburn last Monday. He had resided on the north side of Crooked lake, northwest of Angola, for the past three years. He was born in the Scandanavian country on Feb. 29, 1868 and was a retired laundry owner from Chicago. Mr. Bergner was married to Mrs. May Baughman of Auburn on Jan. 12, 1943, at Sarasota, Fla. Mrs. Bergner survives. Also surviving are a son by a previous marriage, Nils Bergner, Jr., who is serving in the U. S. Army in Germany and a sister, Mrs. Alma McCarron of Kentfield, Calif. A daughter preceded him in death. Mr. Bernger was a member of the Shrine. The body was removed to the Gerig funeral home in Auburn, where final rites were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. (DST) The Rev Joseph Ferguson of near Auburn officiated and burial followed in the Woodlawn cemetery, near Auburn.

Mildred G. (Wolfcale) Book

Mildred G. Book, Convoy, O., sister of Mrs. Lucile Bodle, Decatur, was killed instantly at 3:52 a.m. Friday at the intersection of W. Ridge Road and U.S. 224 where her car collided with a tractor-trailer outfit driven by William E. Burnette, 43, Massillon, O. Authorities at the Van Wert Post, Ohio Highway Patrol, reported Mrs. Book who was westbound on W. Ridge Road failed to stop for the preferential highway, and hit the fuel tank of the southbound tractor-trailer outfit. Mrs. Book, 57, became the third traffic fatality of the year in Van Wert County. Her grandson, Rocky Lynn Gilbert, 19, route 2, Monroeville, who died of injuries received in a farm tractor-auto accident Aug. 4, was the first fatality of the year in Van Wert County. She was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Convoy, a daughter of Harry W. and Daisy M. Wolfcale, and on April 28, 1934, she married Floyd C. Book, and he died Aug. 4, 1969. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Buddy (Wanda) Gilbert, Monroeville, and Mrs. James (Helen C.) Anderson, Van Wert; a brother, Wilber Wolfcale of Middle Point, O.; three sisters, Mrs. David (Zelpa) Hoaglin and Mrs. Thelma Davis, both of Convoy, and Mrs. Lucile Bodle, Decatur; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by two children, a grandson, and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Stainfield Funeral Home, Convoy, with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Convoy. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Charles E. Bowmar & Maynard Bowmar

Charles Bowmar Dies of Cerebral Hemorrhage
Charles E. Bowmar, 75, of 704 East King street, Garrett, and his brother, Maynard Bowmar, 63, of Willard O., both died on Monday and both were employed by the Baltimore and Ohio railroad. Mr. Bowmar died at the Garrett Community hospital at 10 p.m. Monday from a cerebral hemorrhage after an illness of several years. He entered the hospital a week ago. His brother in Willard suffered a heart attack Monday morning and was dead on arrival at a Willard hospital. Charles E. Bowmar had resided in Garrett for the past 55 years. He was born Feb. 24, 1888, in Wanatah, Ind., and was the son of John and Ella Bowmar. He retired Dec. 31, 1951, as a B & O passenger train engineer after 49 years of service with the railroad. He and Emma Hiigli of Union Mills, Ind., were married May 5, 1912, at Wellsboro, Ind. Mr. Bowmar was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic lodge and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers at Garrett and the Scottish Rite and Shrine at Fort Wayne. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Gerald Bowmar of Rt. 1, Garrett and Charles and Lawrence Bowmar, Both of Garrett; two daughters, Mrs. James Habig of south of Auburn and Mrs. Merle Musselman of LaPorte; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward of Haskill, Ind., and Theodore of Michigan City, Ind., and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Flemming of Chicago and Mrs. Edna Kemp of LaPorte. The body was removed to the McKee funeral home in Garrett where funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Blythe Whealy, pastor of the Garrett Methodist church, will officiate at the services and burial will follow in Union cemetery northwest of Garrett.

Emma (Hiigli) Bowmar

Final rites held for Emma Bowmar
Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McKee Funeral Home for Emma Bowmar, longtime Garrett resident, who died at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, at 9:40 a.m. Thursday. A resident at Golden Years Nursing Home for eight years, she had formerly lived at 704 East King street and was the widow of Charles E. Bowmar, who predeeded her in death in 1963. She was born on Jan. 11, 1890, in Strawn, Ill. to John and Emily Hiigl. She and Mr. Bowmar were married May 5, 1912, and were the parents of three sons and two daughters. One son, Gerald, preceeded her in death. Survivors include, Lawrence, 601 Oakleaf Drive; Charles, 510 East Warfield; Mrs. Merl (Dorothy) Musselman, LaPorte; and Mrs. Doris Habig, Auburn; two brothers, Ernest Hiigli, Union Mills, Ind.; John Hiigli, Ocala, Fl.; three sisters, Miss Martha Hiigli, Union Mills; Mrs. Nathan Marsh, LaPorte; and Mrs. Orin Faris, Clearwater, Fl.; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One great-great-grandchild also survives. She was a member of the Garret United Methodist Church and Rev. Ron Bowman, pastor of the church officiated at the services. Burial was in Christian Union Cemtery.

Helen (Lesson) Bowmar

Auburn - Helen Bowmar, 76, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at 10:30 p.m. in Betz Nursing Home of Auburn. Mrs. Bowmar was a homemaker and a graduate of Garrett High School. She was a member of the Garrett American Legion Auxiliary and the Garrett Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries. She was an honorary member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Jackson, Mich. to Joseph and Dorothy (Wattier) Lesson. She married Charles W. "Babe" Bowmar on Oct 6, 1951, in Garrett. He survivies. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Melinda Bowmar of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Evelyn Butler, and a brother, Joe Lesson. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Thomas Funeral Home, 1277, C.R. 56, Garrett. Lloyd Mealer will officiate. Burial will be in Christian Union Cemetery of Garrett. Ella (Black) Bowmer

Mrs. Ella Black Bowmer, wife of John Bowmer, was born in Porter county, Ind., February 4, 1867, and Died December 29 at Haskell, Ind., at the age of 54 years, 10 months and 26 days. Mr. and Mrs. Bowmer were married April 20, 1884, and had 10 children, five sons and five daughters. Mrs. Bowmer leaves four sons and four daughters, John Bowmer, Jr., having died seven years ago, and Ella Maud Bowmer having died six years ago. The husband, three borthers and one sister also survive. The brothers and sister are Irvin Black, of New Haven, Ind.; Ernest Black and Steven Black, of Wanatah, Ind., and Eva Hedges, of Gallon, Mo. Early in life, Mrs. Bowmer united with the Christian church of Wanatah, and later with the Advent Christian church of Union Mills. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Union Mills, Ind. The Rev. I. M. Houser, of the Federated church, officiated. John Sweitzer was the undertaker. Burial was in Union Mills cemetery.

William H. L. Brooks

William H.L. Brooks, 89 died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday at the family home at 815 Alexandria Pike following an illness of two days. Mr. Brooks was born in Vermont and moved to Anderson from Philadelphia, PA in 1916. He was employed as a toolmaker at Delco-Remy Division until his retirement on July 8, 1945. Mr. Brooks was a member of the FIrst Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Charles Landes and Miss Ruth L. Brooks, both of Anderson; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The body was removed in the Sells & Howe Funeral Home where friends will be received after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. AC Marvin, pastor of the First Christian Missional Alliance Church, officiating. Burial in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Lee Odus Byer

Lee Odus Byer, 87, route 1, Willshire, O., died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Van Wert County (O.) Hospital, where he had been a patient for eight days. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Methodist Church, Willshire, O. Born Dec. 13, 1887, in Mercer County, O., he was the son of Franklin and Effie Tague-Byer, and was married on Dec. 16, 1915, to Hazel Owens, who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Homer (Martha) Koontz, Rockford, O.; one brother, Cloyd, route 1, Willshire; two grandchildren and eight grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, O., with Rev. William Harris officiating. Oscar D. Chase

The death on Monday of Oscar D. Chase, for years a resident and highly respected business man of Cambridge City, caused a painful shock to his large circle of friends throughout the western part of the county. He had been ta the Reid hospital since the accident he met with at Hagerstown the previous week when he had his leg broken in two places between the knee and ankle. Monday his condition made amputation necessary and operation was performed but death followed soon after. The removal by death of so good a man as was he is a big loss to our community and will be missed. He was a member of Cambridge Masonic Lodge, Odd Fellows at Germantown and Red Men of this place. Those surviving are the widow, Viola; two sons, Clarence and Robert; father, John W. Chase, a brother, William and three sisters: Mrs. Ruth Lowery, Mrs. Edna Ohmit and Mrs. Goldie Whorley all of Germantown. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church, Germantown ,Wednesday afternoon. Rev. DL Mile officiating. Interment in cemetery adjoining, Cambridge Lodge No 5, F&AM in charge.

Robert J. Connors, age 76, of 4412 Magoun Avenue, East Chicago passed away Saturday Jan 11 at St. Catherine Hospital following a sudden illness. There are no immediate survivors. Calvin Cromwell

Calvin Cromwell, a laborer, was engaged in digging a well at Indianapolis and when 33' down, called to be taken out. He was drawn to the top of the well but fell back dead. He is supposed to have been overcome by damp.

William Cullen Folger

Rensselaer - William Cullen Folger, 84, a former Rensselaer resident died at 1 a.m. Sunday in community hospital, Indianapolis. He had been ill for two weeks. Born in Oakland, Ill, he had lived in Indianapolis the past 12 years, but spent most his life in Jasper County. In 1898 he was married to Mary Maria Spriggs. He was a farmer and a road contractor and served for many years as trustee of Barkley township. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving with the widow are four daughters, Mrs. Lester Sparks and Miss Ruth Folger, both of Indianapolis and Mrs. Jack Grant of Joplin, Mo and Mrs. Thomas Marimon of Valparaiso; one son, Garfield of Chicago; one brother, Horace of Gooding, Ida and one sister, Mrs Rose Wright of Brocton, Ill.

Mrs. Mayme Formes, 84 years old, a lifelong Indianapolis resident, died yesterday at a local nursing home. Mrs. Formes and her late husband, Otto Formes, operated a hardware store on East Washington Street for many years. James Francis

Wabash, Ind. - James Francis, 20, of near Wolcott, NY, [was] thrown from his auto when it collided with a milk truck on Ind. 113, ten miles south of here Monday. [He] was crushed fatally when the truck overturned on him. The youth's father, Irving Francis was following in another car and witnessed the accident.

A peculiar case of mingled grief and joy was that which occurred to Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Griffett of Nashville. In one room of their pleasant home lay their little sick boy, and, in the other, the mother in confinement and almost at the same instant the little boy breathed his last and died, a little girl was born to the mother.

William Griffin

Madison, Ind., Jan 9 - Injuries to the brain, the most serious of which were on the left side and front of the head, were given by attending physicians today as the cause of William Griffin's death at the King's Daughter's Hospital Tuesday. Griffin, 54 years old, is said to have been struck by Archie Goins, Madison, Dec 20 while the two were employed at the McKim Coal Company in this city. Goins has been arrested and lodged in jail on a charge of assault with intent to kill. Charges were preferred by Archie Glore, Madison, another employee of the coal company. Goins is alleged to have struck Griffin when the two disagreed over a matter pertaining to their work.

Martin V. Hail

The body of Martin V. Hail, a Campbellite preacher, who died 20 years ago was taken from its grave at Jeffersonville, for reinternment and was in a most remarkable state of preservation. The form was very little, if any, decayed. The beard had grown to a considerable length. The clothing still possessed a bright color and were not in the least decayed.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Lee Hamilton who died Monday morning in the Jennings Convalescent Home in Johnson City, Tenn will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Baker Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Forest Crum, pastor of Perkinsville Methodist Church in charge. Burial will be made in the Neese Cemetery at Perkinsville. Friends will be received at the funeral home this evening after 7 o'clock. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Johnson City and had lived for several years with her daughter, Mrs. Charles Ronge, RR6, Anderson. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Gibson City, Il. Her husband, Charles Hamilton died in 1949. She is survived by the daughter, a son, Robert, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; a brother, John Hulse of Fordtown, Tenn and sister, Mrs. Nancy Hamilton, Jonesboro, Tenn.

Marion - Mrs. Elizabeth Harvey is dead at the home of her daughter, Mrs. WT Bailey in this city after an illness of several months. Mrs. Harvey formerly resided at Kokomo and never recovered from an illness she contracted when she came to this city 18 months ago. The body was taken to Kokomo for burial. She is survived by the husband, Charles Harvey; one daughter, Mrs. Bailey; a son, Oliver, Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lee, Mrs. William Hall and Mrs. John Bennett, Kokomo and three brothers, Edward, Ernest and Alfred of Kokomo.

Charles Wallace Howe

Francesville - Charles Wallace Howe, 85, of Parkview Haven Retirement Center, Francesville died there Monday. He had been in ill health 18 months. Mr. Howe, a retired farmer and bus driver, drove a bus for the Medaryville school system for 15 years. Born April 15, 1905 in Medaryville, he lived there most of his life. He married Alma Hess Feb 12, 1928 in Monticello. She preceded him in death. His second wife, Beatrice, survives. They were married June 25, 1979 in Jonesboro. Mr. Howe was a member of Medaryville CHristian Church. He formerly served several years as a precinct committeeman for Cass Township in Pulaski County. ALso surviving are two daughters, Betty Hilton of Medaryville and Martha Sue Risner of North Judson; a son, Robert Howe of West Lafayette and a sister, Mabel Hill of Paxton, Ill.

WELLS NATIVE, JAMES HUNNICUTT, DIES IN DeKALB AIRPLANE CRASH
A resident of Fort Wayne, James Clinton Hunnicutt, 24, died Wednesday in the crash of a single-engine airplane in woods just off the runway at DeKalb County Airport. The plane, piloted by Mark Sherbinsky III, 50, had just taken off for a business trip to Wisconsin when it crashed in heavy fog and burned about 4:45 a.m. Federal Aviation Administration officials were investigating the accident. Born in Wells County, he was a son of Eugene Hunnicutt and Janet E. Thompson Hunnicutt. His marriage to the former Tricia Smith, who survives, took place in Warren March 28, 1987. A 1982 graduate of Huntington North High School, he was employed at Special Trucks Inc. of Fort Wayne. He attended the Jefferson Center United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to the wife, include the father, Eugene Hunnicutt, of Uniondale; the other, Janet Hunnicutt of Warren; one sister, Mrs. Janine Shideler of Van Buren; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Thompson, United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren; and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hunnicutt of Poneto. Friends may call at the H. Brown and Son Funeral Home in Warren from 1 to 9 p.m. today and prior to services, scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Steven Haiflich and Rev. Herman H. Johnson Jr., 6, of route 2, Geneva, died Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Riley Children's Hospital at Indianapolis. The son of Herman H. and Daisy (Woods) Johnson Sr., the child had been ill about a week. Cause of death was attributed to a heart condition. He was born October 26, 1969 in Portland, Indiana and is survived, along with the parents, by three grandparents, Mrs. Lucy Johnson, route 2, Geneva, Mrs. Kelley Jones, Indianapolis, and Miller Woods of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Elizabeth L., 12; and three brothers, James Earl, 10, William Boyd, 4, and Simon H., 14 months. Funeral services will be held at the Community Baptist Church in Redkey at 10 a.m. Friday, with graveside services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jim Hall Cemetery at Viper, Kentucky. Oscar Lang

Oscar Lang, 40 years old, 1537 Steele Street No. 3, died early this morning at his home. Police, who were called learned that he had gone home and lay down on his bed and that death occurred a short time later. Coroner C.H . Keever ordered the body sent to an undertaking establishment and will conduct an autopsy this morning. Lang is said to be separated from his wife and lived at the Steele Street address with his father, E.E. Lang.

Mrs. Ida M. Lawrence, 94, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday in George Ade memorial hospital after undergoing surgery about 10 days ago. Mrs. Lawrence who made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Hess, was able to be around the house and attend church until just a few weeks ago. Born in Brook, she resided in the community her entire life. She was a member of the Brook Methodist Church and charter member of the Carnation Club and the Book Study Club. In 1885 she married John F. Lawrence who died in 1947. Surviving are three sons, Roy, Donald and Harry all of Book; and two daughters, Mrs. Hess and Mrs. Walter Sell of Brook; 8 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. J. Shields White officiating and burial in Riverside cemetery.

Earl Martin, one of the founders and organizers of the Cloverleaf Creameries, Inc., of this city, died suddenly in an Olean, New York hotel last night. Mr. Martin formerly lived in Huntington and at present had his office in Indianapolis, being production manager of the Mid-West creameries, operated by the Indiana Farm Bureau.

EARL MARTIN IS TAKEN BY DEATH - Former President of Cloverleaf Creameries Dies Suddenly
Earl Martin, 58, one of the founders and a former president of the Cloverleaf Creameries, Inc., of this city, died last night in a hotel at Olean, New York. Mr. Martin was production manager for the Mid-West Creameries, operated by the Indiana state farm bureau and was in the east attending to business for the company. His office was in Indianapolis. Word of his death was received here this morning by friends and former business associates. He died during the night, presumably from a heart attack. He was accompanied to Olean by Edison Elbridge, of Chicago. In 1915 Mr. Martin and W. A. Klepper of this city organized the Martin-Klepper Creamery company in this city, the name being changed to the Cloverleaf Creameries, Inc., in 1920, when a merger of the Decatur, Huntington and Bluffton plants was made. Mr. Martin was not associated with the local creamery concern. About five years ago Mr. Martin accepted a position with the Indiana Farm Bureau and was manager of the several creameries operated by this association. He formerly lived in Huntington, but recently maintained his home at Lake Wawasee. He is survived by his wife. The body will be taken to Wawasee. Funeral arrangements were not learned here this afternoon.

John McClain, 74 years old, prominent farmer living near Frankfort, died yesterday morning at his home, according to word received by relatives in Indianapolis. Milton A. McKinley, 62 died at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in Community Hospital at Toms River, NJ. He had been in failing health nine months. He was born Dec 9, 1927 in Lafayette and graduated from Jefferson HS in 1945. Mr. McKinley was a Navy veteran where he was a flight engineer. William R. Mitchell, 79, Muncie, father of Mrs. Lee (Patricia) Hoopingarner of Decatur, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday at his 2000 Petty Road home following a lingering illness. Born on May 31, 1896 in Chicago, Mr. Mitchell had lived in Muncie since 1927. He was a retired 25-year employee of the Muncie Newspapers, Inc. Wheatfield - Eli Mize, 66, a farmer in this community, died at 3 a.m. Monday in Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso where he had undergone surgery after a short illness. Born at Seymour, Tenn., he had lived in this community 45 years and was a member of the Methodist Church at Tefft. He was married in 1915 to Bertha Mikels of Knoxville, Tenn., who died in 1951. Wilkinson - Basil Muterspaugh, 65, who resided south of Mechanicsburg died at his home Tuesday morning. Born May14, 1895, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Muterspaugh and was reared in the Mechanicsburg community. He had been employed by the state highway department in the Anderson district for 24 years prior to retirement and was a member of the Mechanicsburg Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his widow, Nora; four sons, Curstis, Shirley, Carl, Middleton; Charles, Anderson and Robert at home; four sisters, Mrs. Fern Kirkpatrick, Shirley; Mrs. May Drescher, Indianapolis; Mrs. Dorothy Butcher, Shirley and Mrs. Cecil Muncy, Anderson; two half brothers, Andy and Lee Moore, Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Thomas W. Muterspaugh, 64, 2302 Martindale Ave, died at 12:10 a.m. today in Logansport hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was a farmer for a few years and worked over 25 years at the Nicholson File company. Mr. Muterspaugh was a member of the Markleville Brotherhood. The body was taken to the Valorous C. Rector Funeral Home in Markleville and will be returned to the family home Wednesday morning where friends will be received. Middleton - Mrs. Viola Hester Muterspaugh, 94, 429 N. Eight St, died Monday at her residence. Her husband, Raymond died in 1940. Born in Henry County, she retired as a secretary to Anderson attorney, Dan Quickel, after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Middletown Sixth Street Christian Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted today at the Ballard & Shirley Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Campbell officiating. Burial was in Miller Cemetery.

Indianapolis - Ocal V. Mutterspaugh, 63, 2810 S. High School Rid, Indianapolis, died Friday evening at St. Vincent's Hospital here. He was born in Henry County near New Castle and had been a public school teacher for 43 years. He had taught printing in Washington HS, Indianapolis for 38 years. Mr. Mutterspaugh was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and a member of the Centre, Ind Masonic Lodge. Survivors include te widow, Alice E. Mutterspaugh; one daughter, Mrs. Helen G. Walker, Athens, Texas and one grandchildren. The body was taken to the FLanner and Buchannan Fall Creek Mortuary in Indianapolis where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Mortuary. Burial in Washington Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Della Myers

Marion -- Mrs. Della Myers, 55 years old, one of the most widely known residents of Jefferson township is dead after an extended illness dating from March 29, 1922 when the body of her husband, A.L. Myers was found in a lot at Everett, Mich. Myers was killed during the night and the mystery of his death was never cleared. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Scott Graham of near Gas City, Clinton Nixon of St. Louis and Miss Jeanette Myers of Lansing, Mich. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Township.

Camden - Mrs. Emma E. Porter, 80, of Camden, died in the Goodwill Nursing Home here at 11 p.m. Sunday. She had been in failing health several months and in the nursing home several weeks. Born in Jackson township, she was a life resident of this community. She was married in 1891 to Frank W. Porter who died in 1939. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Medaryville - Mrs. Effie (Pike) Querry, 69, Medaryville, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette where she had been admitted three hours earlier. She had been ill three months. Born at Ottawa, Ill., she was married in 1906 to Guilford Querry who died in 1935. She was a member of the Medaryville Methodist Church and OES No 310. Miss Nell Quiett died at her home, 1127 North 10th Street at 8:15 a.m. She had worked at Alden's Dept. Store for over 20 years as a sales clerk. Miss Quiett was a member of St. Ann's Church and Altar Society. Surviving are five sisters, Miss Josephine Quiett, Miss Edna Quiett, Mrs. Madge Peters, and Mrs. Myrtle Hadley all of Terre Haute, Mrs. May Osborn of Wilmington, Dela. and several nieces and nephews. Frank Rummel died Tuesday evening at his home in East Cambridge, after an illness of five days with pneumonia. He was the son of Felix and Mary Rummel was born in East Germantown July 14, 1864; but has resided here most of his life. Those surviving are the widow, three children, Frank Rummel of Indianapolis; Mrs. Mildred Clifton and Mrs. Dorothy Paul of Muncie; one brother, George Rummel of Richmond. The deceased was a member of Wayne Lodge of Odd Fellows, Hormah Encampment, Osage Tribe of Red Men of Cambridge City. Funeral services will be held Friday 2:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Church, East Germantown, Rev. DL Miley in charge. Burial in Adjacent cemetery.

FORREST A. RUPRIGHT, 73, of Allen County died yesterday at Lutheran Hospital. The Wells County native had lived in Allen County 43 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He retired as a lead operator for General Electric after 40 years in 1982. Surviving are his wife, Harriett L.; son George A. of Ossian; daughters Antoinette L. Sorg of Fort Wayne and Susan K. Carmin of Monroeville; and nine grandchildren. Services are 9:30 a.m. Monday at Elzey & Haggard Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, and at 10 a.m. in St. Therese Catholic Church. Calling at the funeral home is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Catholic Church Cemetery. Preferred memorials are Masses at the church or gifts to the Allen County Cancer Society or Allen County Heart Association.

Mary (Sauer) Schumm

Mary S. Schumm, 89, widow of William J. Schumm and sister of Phil Sauer, Decatur, died Saturday at 10:10 a.m. at Crows Haven Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. She had been a patient there the past four months and had been in ill health four years. Mrs. Schumm came to the United States in 1895 and resided on the same route 1, Willshire, farm for 73 years until moving to Fort Wayne seven years ago, she has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Walter Koehlinger of Fort Wayne, for the past four years. A housewife, Mrs. Schumm was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Schumm, O., and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was born on April 5, 1886 in Germany to John and Anna Meisinger-Sauer, and was married on April 9, 1917 to William J. Schumm, who died in 1967. Survivors include two daughters, Elsie Schumm, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Walter (Irma) Koehlinger, Fort Wayne, and one son, Milton, Van Wert, O.; two brothers, Phil Sauer, Decatur, and Louis Sauer, Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Zwick Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. (Indiana time) at the Zion Lutheran Church in Schumm, O. with Rev. Robert Schuler officiating. Mrs. A. S. Stalter, formerly Lucille Butler, died Saturday night at Corpus Christi, Texas. She has been in poor health for several years. She was born in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School. She is a charter member of Psi Iota Xi. Her husband Alan, a former employee of the Decatur Democrat, preceded her in death in 1965. She is survived by one son, William, of Corpus Christi; two granddaughters, two sisters, Mrs. Donald Hunsicker of Stuart, Florida, and Mrs. Forest Vail of North Webster, Indiana; and one brother, Richard B. Butler of Lansing, Michigan. Memorial services were held at the First Christian Church in Corpus Christi today. Graveside services will be held in Dallas at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Ehrler of East Dubuque, Ill., and Patrice Heilbrunn of Chicago; three sons, Michael of Yuma, Ariz., Douglas of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Gregory of Gurnee, Ill.; two sisters, Lucile Stoppenhagen of Ossian, Ind., and Emma Etzler of Convoy; three brothers, Wilbert of Decatur, Ind., Al of New Haven, Ind., and Lorenz of Ohio City; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tinley Park, Ill., with calling an hour before services. MRS. G. W. STEELE TAKEN BY DEATH - Wife of Major Steele Dies At Home of Daughter in Indianapolis
Mrs. Marietta Swayzee Steele, widow of the late Maj. George W. Steele, died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Meta Steele Owen, in Indianapolis. Death was caused from heart trouble and followed an illness of several years. The body is being returned to Marion for burial. Mrs. Steele was born in Marion, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Swayzee, and for more than 80 years she has been closely identified with the social and political life of Grant county and of the nation. As the wife of Maj. Steele a great part of her life was spent in western army posts where her husband was stationed, and in Washington where he represented the 11th Indiana district as congressman for more that 20 years. Mrs. Steele is survived by her daughter, at whose home she died; one son, Capt. George W. Steele, naval attache at the United States embassy in Paris; two brothers, Frank Swayzee, Washington D. C., and Mark Swayzee, Los Angeles, and one granddaughter. Mrs. Steele was known by many in Bluffton. Wells county was in the eleventh district during a portion of the time Major Steele was congressman from the district.

Sister of two Ossian residents, Milda Steele, 62, Palos Heights, Ill., died Wednesday in Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights. A native of Allen County, she is survived by her husband, Harry R., two daughters, three sons, and 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are six sisters, including Eldora Schuela of Ossian, and six brothers, including Adelbert Rekeweg of Ossian and Edgar and Ernst Rekeweg, both of Decatur. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park, Ill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hirsch Memorial Chapel in Tinley Park. Preferred are memorials to the American Cancer Society.

A little son of Mrs. Hattie Steele was killed at Marion yesterday by the explosion of a lamp. Her husband was killed by a Clover Leaf freight a year ago and a damage suit against the road was decided against her only Saturday.

Mrs. Mary Stock

Last rites for Mrs. Mary Stock, age 80, who died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Werner, 721 Weghorst street will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the GH Hermann Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of which she was a member. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mrs. Stock was ill three months. A native of Germany, Mrs. Stock was an Indianapolis resident more than 50 years, and was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of the Sacred Heart church. Besides the daughter, two grandchildren survive.

A lifelong Hancock County resident, she was a member of the Cumberland Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine of Indianapolis. Harry D. Tope, 75, of route 2, Ohio City, O., one-fourth of a mile north of Wren, O., on road 49, died at 2:30 a.m. (Ohio time) today at the Van Wert county hospital, where he had been a patient six days. He was employed at the Schafer Co. in Decatur for nearly 50 years. Mr. Tope was a member of the Wren United Methodist Church. Born in Willshire township, Van Wert county, on March 6, 1900, he was a son of William V. and Christina Viola Snyder-Tope, and was never married. Mr. Tope lived his entire life on the same farm. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Cloe Tope, with whom he made his home; Mrs. Helen Tope of Glenwood, and two nephews and one niece. Three brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will e held at 1 p.m. (Ohio time) Monday at the Zwick funeral home, with Rev. Wilbur Stivers officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland cemetery, Van Wert. Mattie Tumbleson, 86, Wren, O., died at 7 p.m. Friday at Smith & Shane Hill Nursing Home in Rockford, O., where she had resided the past 10 years. Mrs. Tumbleson was born July 7, 1889 to John and Amanda Harker-Gephart, and was married to Curtis S. Tumbleson, who passed away August 5, 1941. A housewife and a telephone operator at Wren for 24 years prior to her retirement in 1952, she was a leader of the Wren Community Mission Youth Band for 24 years. Surviving are two sons; Jesse A. Tumbleson of route 1, Ohio City, O.; F.H. (Red) Tumbleson, Wren; one daughter, Mrs. Welmer (Esta) Harmon of Wren; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Gladys) Drake of Decatur, Mrs. Bryan (Ireta) Myers of Wren, and Mrs. Arthur (Lucille) Lillich of Fort Wayne; four brothers, Edward Gephart of Fort Wayne, Basil Gephart of Willshire, Owen Gephart of Ohio City and Forest Gephart of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Walsh, age 71 years, died Tuesday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Morse on east Front street after a prolonged illness. Surviving are six daughters: Mrs. Mary Morse, Mrs. Edna Farmer of Cambridge City; Mrs. Edward Brown of Straughn; Mrs. Anna Bean of Oklahoma; Mrs. Lilly Combs of Bradford, Ill; Mrs. Lucile Howard of Indianapolis; 3 sons, Edward Walsh of Pershing; Frank Walsh of Lawrenceburg; Wm. Walsh of Greencastle and one sister, Etta Goodard of Greencastle. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) morning at 8:30 o'clock at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and burial at Greencastle, Indiana.

Effie E. (Leisure) Wardwell

Elwood - Mrs. Effie E. Wardwell, 90, 217 North Street died about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Wardwell was born June 13, 1870 in Grant County and was the daughter of George W. and Permelia Leisure. She married Theodore Wardwell in 1896. Her husband died in 1943. Mrs. Wardwell who had spent most of her life in Elwood was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kay Bradley, Elwood; two sons, Murval Wardwell, Orester and Donald Wardwell, LaFontain; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The body was taken tot he Copner and Fesler Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Lawrenceburg - Mrs. Margaret J. Weber, 77 years old, wife of Frederick J. Weber, ex-assessor of Manchester Township, is dead at their home of pneumonia. The husband and four children survive.

Thomas A. Wedding (Al), age 57, of 122 S. Connecticut St, Hobart, passed away Monday Jan 13, 1969 at Methodist Hospital, Gary. Survivors: wife, Olive; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Joan) McDonald, Mrs. Sheila Daily; one son, Gregory; three grandchildren all of Hobart; two brothers, Ebbert of Hartford, Ky.; Sylvester of Munster. Funeral services will be held Thursday Jan 16 at 1 p.m. from Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd, Hobart, Ind. with Rev. Donald S. Wallace officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight after 7 p.m. He was employed in the Gas Service Department of Northern Indiana Public Service Co with 32 years of service. He was a Hobart resident for 24 years, a member of the First Baptist Church of Hobart, member of Hobart YMCA.

Gerald P. "Bud" Weltzin

Francesville - Gerald P. "Bud" Weltzin, 73, a retired Rt 2 farmer, died at 9:29 a.m. Sunday in Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. Mr. Weltzin was in the Army during WWII and was decorated with the Purple Heart, Medal of Honor and Europeal African Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze Stars. Born Dec 28, 1916 in WHite Post Township, he was a life resident of rural Francesville. He married Ann M. Siemens in Winamac on March 27, 1948. She survives. Mr. Weltzin was a member of the United Methodist Church in Medaryville, the American Legion, Pulaski County Farm Bureau and Gold Tour Travel Club of Lafayette.

Mrs. Minnie Whisner

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Whisner, 90 years old, 228 1/2 Massachusettes Avenue will be held at 1 p.m. today in the JC Wilson Chapel of the Chimes. Burial will be in the Floral Park Cemetery. She died in her home Thursday. Mrs. Whisner was born in Zionsville and had lived in Indianapolis most of her life. Survivors include a son, Herbert Schooley and a grandson.

Miss Lettie Agnes Williamson

Funeral arrangements for Miss Lettie Agnes Williamson, 85, who died at 6 p.m. Monday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Rex Keesling, 614 Nichol Ave will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Albright Funeral Home. Burial will be made in West Maplewood Cemetery. The body was taken to the Albright Funeral Home where friends will be received after 5 p.m. today. Miss Williamson was born in Huntington County and had spent most of her life here. She was a member of the EUB Church and several church organizations. Other survivors are a niece, Mrs. Esther Barns, Anderson; a nephew, EI Stephenson, Cleveland and several great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Wysong, 83 years old, 3336 Houston Street will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Feeney-Kirby Mortuary and at 11 a.m. in St. Jude's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Wysong died Thursday in her home. Born at New Albany, she had lived in Indianapolis 35 years. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. HD Tousley, Sr, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Julius X. Zerr

Julius X. Zerr, 67 years old, 8015 Pendleton Pike Road died yesterday in Memorial Clinic. Mr. Zerr born in Yorkville, had lived in Indianapolis 38 years. He was a retired groceryman and was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Monday in the Feeney-Kirby Mortuary and at 9 a.m. in St. Simon Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Catherine Zerr; two daughters, Mrs. Terese Ann Fargo and Mrs. Julia Willits, both of Indianapolis and three grandchildren.
