Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gresse funeral home in Orrville, O., for Mrs. Jane Amstutz of Orrville, who died at 1 a.m. Thursday at the Orrville hospital following a long illness. Her late husband Loren M. Amstutz, was a native of Berne, and formerly associated with the Amstutz Hatcheries.
She married Mr. Amstutz on August 19, 1938, and he died August 2, 1974. Mrs. Amstutz was a native of Orrville. Surviving are two sons, Thomas and Jerry, both of Orrville; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Susan) Hutchinson of Hollsopple, Pa., one brother and several grandchildren.
Mrs. Amstutz was a member of the Augsburg Lutheran Church. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Arthur Fox and Mrs. Amos Neuhauser, both of Berne.

Mrs. Rotia Aumend, 68, of 206 ½ West Superior Street, died at 2:40 pm yesterday at her home. Surviving are the husband, Bert. L. Aumend; a son, James Proxmire of this city; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

G.A. BERGHOFF, BREWERY HEAD, DIES THURSDAY - Pneumonia Fatal To Business Leader; Rites Monday
Pneumonia developing a week ago after a year's illness, claimed the life of Gustav A. Berghoff, 76, for more than a half century one of Fort Wayne outstanding business leaders, at 3:55 o'clock Thursday afternoon at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mr. Berghoff, who resided at 1410 East Washington Boulevard, had been in ill health the last year. His condition became critical a week ago yesterday and he was taken to the hospital.
Active in business affairs until his death, he was president and chairman of the board of directors of the Hoff-Brau Brewing Corporation, the Wayne Oil Burner Corporation and Berhoff Properties, Inc., and was a member of the boards of directors of the Wayne Pump Company, the Lincoln Life Insurance Company and the Lincoln National Bank and Trust Company at the time of his death.
The deceased was a leader in the founding of two of Fort Wane's major industries - the brewing and gasoline pump business. He was also one of the original founders of the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company and the Lincoln National Bank and Trust Company.
Born May 20, 1863 in Dortmund, Germany, a son of the late Anton and Elizabeth Bellhouve Berghoff received his schooling in his native country. At the age of 20, he came to the United States and directly to Fort Wayne.
He first became employed by the former A. C. Trentman Company, a wholesale grocery establishment. After four years with that firm, he founded, with three brothers, the late Henry, Hubert and Herman Berghoff, the Berghoff Brothers Brewery.
The deceased was married to Miss Julia Jauch of Dayton, O., in October, 1890. Mrs. Berghoff died in April, 1929. Survivors include four sons, John A., Walter E., Edward H., and Norbert G. Berghoff, and three daughters, Mrs. Marie T. Suelzer and Mrs. Martha J. Baker, all of Fort Wayne and Miss Leona E. Berghoff at home; 13 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Elkeman living in Dortmund, Germany.
The body was removed to Ankenbruck's Funeral Home and will be returned to the residence at 11 o'clock Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the residence and 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
The family has requested that friends omit flowers.

David N. Biberstine, 75, or route 1, Dunkirk, a native of Monroe township, died Wednesday evening at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, where he was hospitalized three weeks.
He was a former employee of Decatur Furniture in Berne. Born in Monroe township on May 3, 1889, he was a son of David and Mary Mosier-Biberstine, and was married to the former Hallie Cooprider.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Leona Adams of Albany, Mrs. Elda Lounsbury of Gaston, and Miss Carol Ann Biberstine of Byers, Kan.; two sons, Don of Lexington Ky., and Charles of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Chris of Berne; three sisters, Mrs. Cleo (Clara) Hartman and Mrs. Sadie Strahm of Berne and Mrs. Martha Garrison of Bluffton; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Pitman-Richman funeral home in Eaton where friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
Burial will be in Union cemetery, Eaton.

Stepping off a west-bound Ohio Electric car No. 87 at Sheridan's siding, near stop 68, four miles east of Ft. Wayne while the car was waiting on a siding for the east-bound car to pass on the main track, Herminigild Bueter, 16 years old, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bueter, of near New Haven, was run over by the east-bound car as it backed onto the main track at 2:40 o'clock Sunday afternoon and received fatal injuries. He was hurried to St. Joseph's hospital,
where he was attended by Dr. J. Frank Dinnen, and he died at 4:10 o'clock.

Frank J. Burns, 75-year-old former Fort Wayne resident died Sunday at his home in Detroit.
Funeral services will be held at Detroit Tuesday at 9 am (E.S.T.) and the body is expected to arrive here at 1:30 pm Tuesday. Burns left Fort Wayne for Detroit 22 years ago. While a resident here, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. At the time of death, he was retired from the Michigan Central Railroad.
Surviving are the widow, Molly; a son, Stephen of Detroit and two brothers, Edward of Chicago and Mike of Albert, Kan.

WILLSHIRE - Thomas Cully, died last Friday. He was past 84 years of age and was a pioneer settler of this country, coming here from Crawford county. He once served as commissioner of the county. He is survived by a widow, six sons and six daughters, 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Cully was held in universal esteem. The funeral was held at the Pleasant Grove church.

Judge A. T. Dailey, one of Van Wert's most famous and popular old gentlemen, died of heart disease, at his home on Market street, Thursday evening. Mr. Dailey was 70 years old and has been a resident of this county for many years. He served six years as Probate Judge and was appointed Postmaster where he served for several years.

Nathan Danner, who has been ill for some time with Typhoid fever, died at an early hour Wednesday morning at his home on South Harrison street. Mr. Danner was formerly employed as boiler maker at the Cincinnati Northern shops, and was highly respected by all who know him. He leaves a large number of friends and relatives to deep by mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the house Thursday afternoon.

Paulding has an epidemic of diphtheria. The seven year old daughter of J. D. Deprey, formerly a tailor from Van Wert is dead. The parents were disciples of the faith cure and as a result a physician was not called until the child was dying.
A five year old boy died later, others have it and it is of the Malignant kind.

Death of W. H. Detter
C. E. Detter received a telegram from Denver, Colo., announcing the death of his brother W. H. Detter. Chas. had mourned his brother for dead for the past 20 years. He was then a soldier and had been reported killed by Indians.
The report of his death was a great surprise.

Elderly Victim of Auto Expires
Celina, O., Jan 19 - John Gilcher, 83, of Celina died last night at the Gibbons Hospital here of shock and injuries suffered Tuesday when he was struck by an automobile driven by Rev. J. J. Jewett. He suffered a crushed pelvis and a fracture of the left leg.
No immediate relatives survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 pm at the Pulskamp Funeral Home here with burial in
Swamp College Cemetery.

Samuel H. Hite, aged 70 years, died Monday morning at the family home, 2905 South Calhoun street, after an extended illness. He was born at Pittsburgh, Pa., at an early age moved to this city. He was employed at the Packard Piano factory for thirty-two years. He is survived by the wife, Mrs. Anna Hite, and the following children: Samuel H. Hite of Decatur, Willis D. Hite, Mrs. Sadie Grafmiller, Mrs. Grace Warner, Mrs. Lillie Carto, of this city. Six grandchildren and two brothers and one sister also survive. The brothers and sisters are Henry Hite of Decatur, Mrs. Lydia Foy of Maples and John Hite of this city.
Mr. and Mrs. Hite were planning on celebrating their golden wedding anniversary July 3. Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, Rev. Bover officiating, with interment in the Lindenwood cemetery.
Friends may view the remains until 12 o'clock Wednesday noon as the funeral will be private.

Ralph M. Hobbs, 59, of Hoagland, was dead on arrival at 9:15 p.m. Saturday in Lutheran hospital, Fort Wayne. He was a native of Illinois, moving to this area in 1920.
He was a trustee of Madison township and was on the advisory board. Mr. Hobbs was a member of Olive Branch Lodge F & AM, Poe; the Moose Lodge, Decatur, and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Hobbs was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Lavonne; a son, John of Angola; two daughters, Mrs. Sally J. Minnick, and Miss Anne M. Hobbs, both of Fort Wayne; a brother, Joseph Lakeworth, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Lois A. Parnell of Indianapolis. His wife is employed at the Progressive card and Gift Shop in Decatur.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Marquart funeral home, Monroeville, with burial in Monroeville Memorial cemetery.
Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. today. Preferred memorials are gifts to the church of your choice.

BRAKEMAN KILLED - Clover Leaf Employee Loses His Life at Ohio City.
Silas L. Hollipeter (sic; Hollopeter), a clover Leaf brakeman, was killed in an accidental manner at Ohio City, Friday morning. The unfortunate young man was aged 21 years. He had left Delphos Friday morning on the west bound local, and while some switching was being done he was run down and killed.
The young man's home is at Grelton, O., His remains were taken to Grelton Saturday evening on train No. 4.

Demise of George Hook
After several weeks of suffering incident to an attack of apoplexy on the evening of January 26, George W. Hook died in his room at the Thatcher hotel in this town Sunday night, February 11, about 11 o'clock. He was born in Greene county about 52 years ago, and for the last seven or eight years had lived in Willshire and vicinity, most of the time following the vocation of carpentering. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nettie Herret, of Columbus, and a brother, Josephus Hook, also of this village. He was also a cousin of J. L. Hook, the well known farmer. The interment occurred Tuesday afternoon in the Willshire cemetery, being preceded by a brief song and prayer service at the Thatcher hotel, conducted by Dr. J. F. Shaffner, who also indulged a few remarks suitable to the occasion. The interment was under the personal supervision of S. S. Buchanan, who had been a strong personal friend of the deceased during his life. George Hook was one of the best know men in Willshire, and was generally liked,
so that his sudden illness and subsequent death has left a decided impress on the people of the community.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hoverman died at the home of her son, Conrad Hoverman, of Liberty township, Wednesday night. She was 75 years of age and spent the most of her life in this county. The funeral was held from the German Reformed church at 10 o'clock Friday.
Philip Hoverman, well known to many of our readers, is a son. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Stein, of this town, relatives of the Hovermans, attended
the funeral.

Bessie Belle Jacks, daughter of Jeremiah and Louisa Jacks, was born in Fayette county, Ohio, October 29th, 1888, and departed this life October 12th, 1906, aged 17 years, 11 months 13 days. She is survived by a father, four brothers and three sisters, who mourn her not as lost, but gone to the better land to join a loving mother and infant brother, who departed this life February 2nd, 1893. In 1900 during a revival, held by Revs. McNary and Hamilton, she was converted and united with the Center M. E. church, in Fayette county. On January 15th, 1904, she moved with her father and other members of the family to Van Wert county, where she has since been a member of Olive M. E. Church. The Sabbath School was the delight and source of deep enjoyment to her soul. She was bereft of her mother at the age of four, ever duteous to her father, kind and affectionate to her brothers and sisters and loving to all who knew her. The funeral was conducted by Rev. H. S. Worthington, at the home on Saturday morning, October 13th. The remains were sent to Milledgeville and taken in charge by F.M. Bottenfield and taken to the home of her sister, in Sabina, where a short service was conducted by
Rev. Eliza H. Thorne the following morning, and her body laid to rest at that place.

JENNINGS - Died, last Friday morning, Miss Bessie Jacks, after being sick eight weeks with typhoid fever. She leaves father, one sister, four brothers, step-mother, two step-brothers, who mourn the loss of a dear sister. She was blessed with a loving disposition, a smile for everyone. She was a member of Olive M. E. church, always in Sunday School, where she will be sadly missed. Her funeral in her home Saturday morning, by her pastor, Rev. Worthington, after which she was taken near Springfield for burial. Three others of the family have had this dreadful disease.
They kindly thank their neighbors for their assistance in their time of need.

Greenfield, Ind., June 22 - U. S. Jackson, sixty-six years old, sergeant at arms of the national house of representatives, and prominently identified with the democratic party of Indiana, died at his home this afternoon.

Mrs. John Johns of this city, died Saturday night, at the State Hospital, where she has been a patient a short time. Mrs. Johns was the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lem??? Balyeat and leaves a husband and three children to mourn her death. The remains arrived here Sunday evening and were taken to their home on L???son avenue. The funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church, Tuesday morning at ten o'clock.

George Johnson Called
The venerable George Johnson who lived near Blackcreek center, died last Thursday, aged 72 years. The funeral was held Saturday, conducted by Revs. Miller and Curl of Rockford, burial in the Willshire cemetery. Mr. Johnson came to this community from West Virginia when but three years of age. He at one time resided on the Joe Ross farm west of Willshire. Senator J. D. Johnson of Celina is a son, and Mrs. Geo. Swilhart of Lima,
and a Mrs. Pond of Toledo, the daughters, and the widow are among the surviving relatives.

George W. Johnson was born in Barber county, Virginia, now West Virgina, April 5, 1834, and departed this life November 22, 1906, aged 72 years, 7 months and 17 days.
He was married to Nancy J. Marjora Christmas day, 1857. To this union was born James D., Peter P., who died in infancy, Frances o. and Mary M. On the 8th day of August, 1874, death came to this home and took wife and mother, leaving three small children to care for.
February 28, 1876, he married Mary J. Morrison. There survives him his widow, Mary J., children, James D., Frances O. and Mary M., Mrs. Harriet I. Figley, a step-daughter, and children; a step-mother; brothers and sisters in West Virginia; relatives by marriage and several grand-children who were a great source of comfort and enjoyment to his retiring life.
Deceased was born of the hardy Virginia stock of Scotch descent. He moved from Virginia after his first marriage, to Indiana, West of Willshie, Ohio, from thence, in the spring of 1860, to the farm where he died, thus living at one place nearly forty-seven years.
His lot was not an easy one--moving in the woods and the pioneer life was a hardship, but he survived and saw and helped to make the progress of the community n which he lived. He lived and died a consistent Christian, fully believing and relying on the Bible and its blessed promises.
The last years of his life were great suffering and inconvenience, as his infirmity scarcely permitted him to leave his home, but he bore it with Christian fortitude and when end came was satisfied and ready to go. He made all preparations for his funeral and burial, knowing well that the time was near at hand. He received all the kindness and care in the approach of the end it was possible for a devoted companion, children and friends to administer.
Funeral was preached at late residence at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 1906, by Rev. Frank Miller of Hicksville, Ohio, assisted by Rev. W. W. Curl of Rockford, after which burial at the Willshire cemetery.
The text for funeral sermon was the 18 verse of the 14th chapter of John. The scripture lesson was the 37th of Proverbs, Ecclesiastics 11-9,Isaiah 55-6. These scripture quotations were selected by the deceased himself, as well as the songs sung by the choir,
which were, "Jesus Lover of My Soul,", "I Shall Know Him,", Asleep in Jesus," and Fact to Face."

Joel Johnson, father to Mrs. C. F. ???, died Tuesday.
Dixon - The funeral of Joel Johnson, a well known resident of the south-western part of the county, near the state line, was held Thursday at the M. Tabor church. Mr. Johnson's death was the result of a complication of heart disease and tuberculosis. He was a native of this county,
fifty-six years of age and left a wife, seven sons and three daughters to mourn his demise.

Celina, O., Jan. 27 - Samuel Knox, 94, lifelong resident of Mercer County died at the Mercer County Home Friday afternoon following a brief illness.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Emma Smith, Grand Hot Springs, Ark., Mrs. Margaret Norden, Toledo and Mrs. Mar Beams, Lima, and four sons, John Knox, Jefferson, Samuel Knox, Jr., and Walter Knox, both of Rockford, and Robert Knox, address unknown.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Sturgis, Mich., Jan. 22 - Mrs. Augusta Lucas, 87, a resident of this city for the past 30 years died at her home here this morning after an illness of one year.
Surviving are a stepson, Ernest Lucas, at home; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Frank Ream of Rome City and a sister, Mrs. Bertie Wetzel of Bloomington, Ill.
Friends are being received at the Foglesong Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Wabash, Jan. 9 - Funeral services for Michael Luery, president of the American Rock Wool Company, who died at a Martinsville sanitarium on Monday, will be held at the Luery residence here at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning with Rabbi Samuel H. Markowitz of Fort Wayne in charge.
Following the service here, the body will be taken to Chicago, where Luery formerly lived. Services will be held there on Thursday morning with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Frances Luery, one brother, Harry Luery of Escanaba, Mich., and one sister, Mrs. Leo Zeaman of Chiago,
besides a number of nieces and nephews.

Richard B. Mahar, 64, of Geneva, a retired meat cutter, died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the Jay county hospital, Portland, where he had been a patient several days.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bryant. Mr. Mahar was a native of New York and resided in Adams county for the past 11 years. He formerly worked at the Geneva Food Bank.
Born Feb. 9, 1910, he was the son of John and Margaret Farrell-Mahar, and was married in 1933 to the former Constana Bardeen who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Sheila) Cincotta and Mrs. Jacquelin Donnally, both of Geneva; two brothers and one sister, residing in New York; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday in the St. Michael Catholic church, Penn Yan, N.Y. Friends may call at the Downing funeral home, Geneva, from 3 until 9 p.m. today, and Thursday at the
Weldon funeral home in Penn Yan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Miriam McDonald, 85, of Baton Rouge, La., a former kindergarten teacher at Lincoln school in Decatur died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Copp of Baton Rouge.
She was a retired teacher, and a member of the Eastern Star and the D.A.R. Survivors include the daughter; one son, Kenneth McDonald of near Detroit, Mich., seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at Bloomfield, Pa.

Fred C. Mertz, 56, a cabinet maker died unexpectedly at 2 o'clock Thursday morning at the Lutheran Hospital where he was taken late Wednesday night. He resided at 1415 High Street and operated a cabinet shop in the rear of his home. Born at Bluffton, he had resided here the last 36 years. He attended the Mennonite Church.
Survivors include the widow, Bertha Marie; two daughters, the Misses Opal and Edna Mertz at home; three sons, Howard, Ruell and Orval Mertz of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Martin of this city and Mrs. Edward Withrow of Elkhart; two brothers, Otto and William Mertz of this city and five grandchildren.

PENNSY VETERAN IS DEAD - For Many Years A Clerk In Pennsylvania Freight Office
Frederick M. Miller, for many years a clerk in the Pennsylvania freight office, died suddenly this morning at 3:15 o'clock at the family residence, 1905 Lafayette street.
Mr. Miller was born in Germany and was 69 years of age. He leaves the widow, Mrs. Linnie T. Miller, one son William A. Dalby, of this city, and two nieces in Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the residence, Rev. Arthur J. Folsom officiating. Home lodge, F. & A.M.,
will hold services at the grave in Lindenwood.

Oval N. Morgan 78, of Montpelier, father of a Berne resident, died late Sunday evening in the Marion VA hospital where he had been a patient for eight days.
A native of Lawrence county, he was a retired farmer and railroad employee. Mr. Morgan was a member of the Millard Brown Post 156 of the American Legion.
Survivors include his widow, Gladys Gerwig Morgan, whom he married March 17, 1951; one son, Glen of Montpelier; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Helen) Beer of Berne; one brother, Dennis Morgan of route 1, Pennville; two sisters, Mrs. Harold Runkle of Geneva and Mrs. Orpha Bopes of Tuscon, Ariz.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Walker funeral home, with Rev. Lynfore Orr officiating. Burial will follow at the Brookside cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
The American Legion Post will be in charge of the military rites.

Columbia City, Jan. 26 - Joseph Roscoe Pence, 63, former Whitley County resident, was killed Thursday in an explosion at the roundhouse of the Burlington Railroad in Deadwood, S.D. Mr. Pence had been an employee of the Burlington Railroad Company for 35 years and was foreman of the roundhouse at the time of his death.
Mr. Pence was born in Cleveland Township, Whitley County, but left the county when a young man. Surviving are the widow to whom he was married in Nebraska; two daughters, Mabel, residing in South Dakota and Ruth, who resides at home; the father, Joseph Pence, who is spending the winter in Three Rivers, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Charles Burwell, Whitley County; two brothers, W. E. Pence of Three Rivers and Roy Pence of Whitley County; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Deadwood Saturday afternoon.

Willis Powell, a well known resident of Washington township is dead after a lingering illness of cancer of the stomach. For several weeks his friends have had no hopes for his permanent recovery. The deceased man has many friends who held him in high esteem. Mr. Powell died at one o'clock yesterday morning and will be buried in Middlepoint Monday afternoon. The funeral party will leave the Powell home
near Middlepoint at 12:30 and the funeral will be held a little later in the M. E. church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary F. Ramey, 86, of Portland, were held at 1 p.m. today at the Baird-Freeman funeral home, and burial followed in Lindenwood cemetery, Fort Wayne. Rev. William Andrews officiated at the services. She died Saturday afternoon at the Portland nursing home.
Born Nov. 14, 1886, in Adams county, she was the daughter of Franklin and Mary Jane Lowery-Hisey, and on Aug. 27, 1927, she married Ora J. Ramey, who died Nov. 8, 1973.
A former Fort Wayne resident, she was employed for many years at Wolf & Dessauer, Fort Wayne. Survivors include one brother, Thurman Hisey of Portland; two brothers-in-law, Orva Carr of Portland and Leo Schaffer of Rockford, O.;
a sister-in-law, Mrs. Laura Helms of Hartford City, and several nieces and nephews.

Walter Riley, 38 years old, was killed Tuesday night by coming in contact with a live wire from a street lamp, which he was attempting to put in condition to give a better light. He was striking the light with a wet stick and touched the light with his other hand,

Mrs. Mary Risher, wife of H. Risher, of Rockford, died Sunday after a short sickness of grippe. She was seventy years of age and was the mother of Mrs. Thomas Risor and Bruce M. Risher, both of this city. The funeral will be held at the Mr. Olive church today at ten o'clock.
The husband is also very sick with the same disease and it is feared will die.

Curtis Roller, aged about twenty-three years, died Sunday evening, from an attack of appendicitis, at Westerfield, Ill., where he had gone to work in the oil field last spring. The deceased young man leaves two brothers and three sisters. His body was brought to Ohio City last night and the funeral will be held at the Wesley Chapel church, today.
Burial will be made in the cemetery near by.

Dr. And Mrs. W. C. Roller went up to York township Tuesday to attend the funeral of Curtis Roller, who died at Westfield, Ill., Sunday evening from an attack of appendicitis. He went to Westfield last spring to work in the oil field. His parents are both dead and he is survived by two brothers and three sisters. The funeral was held at Wesley Chapel Tuesday afternoon, interment in the cemetery nearby.
Deceased was also a brother of Mrs. Byron Whittredge of this town.

Israel Royer, who lives several miles southeast of this town, died august 15, aged 50 years, 8 month and 21 days. It will be remembered that Mr. Royer was taken to Fort Wayne several weeks ago where he underwent a surgical operation,

Fannie Ellen Smith, 78, a resident of Yorktown, and mother of Mrs. Elmo (Geneva) Lengerich of route 3, Decatur, died at 3:10 a.m. today at the Adams county memorial hospital, where she had been a patient since Saturday. Mrs. Smith had been visiting her daughter since Dec. 24.

He was a member of the Faith United Lutheran Church, Richmond. OLD SOLDIER ANSWERS CALL - William Snyder Dies at St. Joseph's Hosital
Had Been Delirious For Several Days and Was Confined to the County Jail
William Snyder, an old soldier, died at St. Joseph's hospital at 4:30 o'clock Sunday morning. A week ago the deceased was taken to Hope hospital in a delirious condition, but the nurses were unable to care for him and he was removed to the county hospital ward Friday morning. He declined rapidly and Saturday he was taken to St. Joseph's hospital in an unconscious condition. He remained in that state until he died yesterday morning. The remains were removed to Schone & Company's undertaking establishment and will be held pending the arrival of relatives. Mr. Snyder was seventy-one years of age and his death was due to exhaustion. Before he was taken sick he boarded on East Superior street. One of his daughters, Mrs. Herman Woehnker, resides on Ewing street in this city, but his wife and several other children live in Chicago. They have been notified and will come to Fort Wayne today. The children are Frank and Noble Snyder, California; Maud, Jennie and Boyd of Chicago, and Mrs. Woehnker of Fort Wayne. The deceased had lived in Fort Wayne since 1860. He was a soldier and served throughout the civil war.
It is probable that the remains will be removed to the home of his daughter and the funeral will be held from there.

Prominent Resident of Pleasant Township Summoned to the Great Beyond
The death of John H. Terry, widely known and highly esteemed resident of Pleasant township, occurred Monday night after a brief illness of pneumonia at his home West of the city. The announcement of his death came as a great shock to his many friends who were not aware that he was seriously ill. Always interested in public affairs and long an officer in township affairs, he had won a greater friendship than the ordinary man. He was sixty-one years of age Sunday and is survived by a wife and the following children; Charles and Frank Terry, Mrs. Harriet Goings and Mrs. Lottie Boham, of this county and Mrs. Effie Shutt, of Hicksville The funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Chapel , four miles West of the city, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock.

He was united in marriage December 28, 1880, to Mary Wilt. To this union was born five children, namely, Charles and Frank Terry, Mrs. Harriet Goings and Mrs. Lottie Boham, of this county, and Mrs. Effie Shutt, of Hicksville; also six brothers and two sisters, namely W. W. Terry, A/. C. Terry, Mrs. Jennie Hoover, C.E. Terry, D. A. Terry, Mrs. Minnie Underwood, E. E. Terry and L. W. Terry. The deceased was baptized early in life and several years ago united with the Lutheran Church at Convoy, under the leadership of Rev. A. M. Houk. He bore his suffering patiently and realized the end was near. Mr. Terry was a true, kind and devoted husband, as well as father. Always had a kind word for his good wife and children, ready at all times to lend them a helping hand. Also, never failing to help anyone who was in distress and needed a friend. His aim was always to be a good loyal citizen and to fulfill his duty in places of public trust.
He always tried to serve his country best.

FORMER VAN WERT MAN DEAD IN GEORGIA
Word has been received in the city from Harry A. Teubner of Tallapoosa, Ga., announcing the death of his father, A. L. Teubner, formerly a well-known business man of this city. Mr. Teubner's death occurred June 23, the funeral being held in Tallapoosa June 25, with burial in a cemetery at that city. Mr. Teubner was about 70 years of age, and is survived by his wife and a number of children; he will be remembered by the older residents of the city,
having been engaged in the dry goods and notions business on West Main Street about 25 years ago.

John E. Thatcher, for many years a resident of this city, died at his home on North Vine Street Saturday morning about 11 o'clock as the result of heart disease, with which had suffered for several months past. Mr. Thatcher was a native of Putman County, and was born Aug. 31, 1847; at the age of 19 he moved to Van Wert, and has made his home here ever since. He is survived by his widow, and six children, Albert Thatcher and Walter Thatcher of Chicago, Vernal Boom??? Of Brookville, O., and John Thatcher of this city, and Hilda and Brandon?? At home, and one brother, Rufus Thatcher, also of this city. The funeral services will be held from the home Monday afternoon at 11 o'clock,

Rufus Thatcher, an aged and very widely known resident of Allingham street, died Monday, of Bright's disease. The deceased, who was sixty-five years of age, is survived only by the wife. The funeral services will be held from the home, Wednesday morning at ten o'clock.

Mrs. Esther Thilbey, 86, an inmate of the county infirmary, died at 6:30 last night. Mrs. Thilbey had lived at the infirmary for one and one-half years. The deceased has a son living in Willshire. The body will be taken to that town.
No funeral arrangements had been made last night.

Highly Esteemed Pioneer of York Township Summoned to the Great Beyond
Mrs. Mary Thomas, widow of the late Richard Thomas, is dead at the home of her son-in-law, D. E. Davies, of York township, after having been long a sufferer of the infirmities of age. Mrs. Thomas was aged eighty-six years and spent over fifty years of her life time in this county. She was a widely known and held in high esteem by a large circle of friends throughout the county. Among her direct survivors are Mrs. Tom J. Jones, of North Market street, and Hon. W. T. Hughes, of South Washington street.

Mrs. John Thurman, formerly a resident of this county, is dead at the family home in Hudson, Michigan. She was a daughter of George Brenneman, of West main street.

Iva (sic; Viva), the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tigner of South Race Street, died Tuesday night as the result of liver trouble.
The remains will be taken to Paulding today for interment.

J. W. Tillotson, an aged and respected resident of Delphos, died at an early hour Thursday morning, at the residence of his son, Dr. J. R. Tillotson, in that city, after a brief illness. He was 77 years of age, and is survived by a son, Dr. Tillotson of Delphos, and a daughter, Mrs. C. C. ??? of Manchester, O.
His remains will be taken to his former home in Manchester, O., where the funeral services will be held Saturday.

John P. Tinkham, of Fort Wayne, well known in this city, as a brother of Mrs. D. S. Johnson, of Woodland avenue, is dead at his home at the advanced age of 83. Death being due to the infirmities of old age, and coming after an illness of a week. Mr. Tinkham was a pioneer business man of Fort Wayne, where he had been engaged in the fuel business ever since 1860. He is survived by his wife and five daughters.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock from his late home in the Indiana city,
Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Johnson, of Woodland avenue, have been called to Fort Wayne by the death of her brother, J. H. Tinkham.

C. E. TODD KILLED IN YARD ACCIDENT
C. E. Todd, Center street was killed Tuesday night in an accident which occurred at 11:30 o'clock in the Cincinnati Northern yards. He had finished putting a water gage in an engine and was returning to the round house when struck and run over by four cars which had been uncoupled from a switch engine. Mr. Todd's neck was broken when the car struck him and his body was thrown under the wheels, being badly mangled. He was removed to the Gamble Undertaking parlor and later to his home. He is survived by his wife, one son, Herbert, 19, one daughter Elizabeth, 3, two brothers Dr. Bert Todd, of Galion and Harold Todd, of Detroit, one sister, Miss Bessie Todd of Crestline and his father, William Todd. Funeral arrangements have not been definitely made
but it is likely that services will be held Thursday and the remains taken to his former home in Galion.

Word was received here yesterday of the death at Indianapolis from an attack of pneumonia of Walter Todd, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Todd of East Third street. The deceased, who was 28 years of age at the time of his death, had been ill for only a few days when the end came. His parents were called to his bedside Tuesday. Until four years ago when he left to take his position at Indianapolis, Todd had always resided in Van Wert and was exceedingly well known to many friends here. The remains will be brought to Van Wert Saturday noon and the funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock for the Todd home on East Third street.
Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Todd is survived by three brothers, (rest is too blurry)

Phillip Trimmel, a well known conductor on the Cincinnati Northern for the past 20 years, died at his home in Jackson, Mich., Saturday morning at 6:15 o'clock, after an extended illness with stomach trouble. Before coming to this city he was a conductor on the Pennsylvania, consequently he has a wide acquaintance in railroad circles. He was about 56 years of age and is survived by his wife. His body was taken to Ft. Wayne,
where the funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Phillip Trump, a highly respected resident of this county, is dead at the home of her son, John Pomeroy, of Harrison township, as the result of infirmities attending her advanced age.
She was 81 years of age, and for many years resided on South Shannon street in this city.

John Tucker, formerly of Delphos and for the past three weeks an inmate of the county infirmary, died at that institution Friday noon at 11:00 as the result of cancer of the stomach, with which he was stricken, while residing at Defiance, a short time ago. He was born in Darke County, and had resided the greater part of his life in Delphos, death occurring in his 49th year. The funeral services were held at the
county farm Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with interment in the Infirmary cemetery.

DR. C. E. TURNER
After a brief illness of only a few days duration, Dr. C.E. Turner, age 31, well known physician of Middle Point, died Wednesday evening from bronchial pneumonia at his home. More than passing sadness is connected with the calling away of the deceased from the fact that his little daughter is critically with pneumonia and his wife is also not well. Well known and largely respected in his community where he numbered his friends as legion, Dr. Turner's death will be regretted by the entire community. He is survived by his parents and his wife and one daughter, Helen, aged 3 years, two sisters, one residing at home in Columbus Grove and the other in Toledo, and one brother residing in California. The funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock form the Presbyterian church in Middle Point, in charge of Rev. Kinnear and
the remains will be taken to his former home in Columbus Grove for interment.

Mrs. Joseph Underwood, aged 76, died at the family home on Woodland avenue Wednesday evening. The deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Zimmermann, was born in Salem, Ohio, and come to Van Wert county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zimmermann, when but a small child. The family settled in Harrison township where she was married to Joseph Underwood in 1862, and where she continued to reside until about 27 years ago when they moved to Van Wert. Mrs. Underwood is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Carrie LaRue, of Harrison township, and two sons, John H., of Van Wert, and William G., of Dayton.
Funeral services will be held at the home Friday morning at 10 o'clock with (the rest is cut off)

Elwood Urton, the 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Urton of North Street, died about 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from a disease so peculiar that a post mortem will be held this morning to determine the cause of death.
The funeral service will be held from the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

A post mortem over the remains of Elwood Urton, the little 6-year-old lad who died quite suddenly Monday, was held yesterday. It was found that death was due to odema of the glottis. The funeral services will be held at the home Friday

William Urton, for many years a resident of this city, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Calvin Gratz of Wapakoneta, with whom he had made his home for several years past. Mr. Urton was born in Warren County 84 years ago, but came to this county at an early age, residing here the greater part of his life. He is survived by a son and two daughters, Mr. Isaac Urton and Mrs. Isaiah Harris of this city, and Mrs. Gratz of Wapakoneta. The funeral services were held in Wapakoneta Thursday morning,
and later the remains were taken to Middlepoint for burial.

Stephan Wall, 82, of Pittsburgh, Pa., brother of James Wall of Decatur, died Friday in a Pittsburgh hospital. He resided in Pittsburgh almost his entire life and was a retired steelworker.
Survivors include his wife, Elmira, five children and one brother. Funeral services were held today in Pittsburg.

St. Henry, O., Jan. 15 - Funeral services for Gerhard Wenning, 83, former resident of Celina who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Pleiman of St. Henry, will be Tuesday at 9 am at the St. Henry Catholic Church with burial in the Celina Catholic Cemetery.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Katie Schlosser and Miss Elizabeth Wenning of Celina; Mrs. Louise Smith and Miss Rose Wenning of Connersville, Ind.
and Mrs. Pleiman; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Daisy M. Wolfcale, 86, or route 1, Convoy, O., mother of Mrs. Lucile Bodle of Decatur, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Smith nursing home, Rockford, O.
Born Sept. 23, 1888, in the Convoy area, she was a daughter of Merriman and Emma Melchi-Heath, and was married on Feb. 19, 1908, to Harry W. Wolfcale, who died Nov. 3, 1973.
Surviving are one son. Wilbur of Middlepoint, O., four daughters, Mrs. Zilpha Hoaglin, of Convoy; Mrs. Mildred Book, of Convoy, O.; Mrs. Lucile Bodle of Decatur; Mrs. Thelma Davis of Convoy; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Effie Bodey of Toledo, O. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Stainfield funeral home, Convoy, with Rev. Gary Exman officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Auburn, Jan. 20 - Ruth Joan Young, 2-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Young of Jackson Township, died at noon today of meningitis and complications at the Sacred Heart Hospital at Garrett.
Surviving are the parents and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arleigh Young of near Auburn and James Marsh of Jackson Township. Brief funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm at the residence
with burial in Cedar Chapel Cemetery.
