Christian Binkley was born May 29, 1851, in Clermont county, Ohio, and departed this life September 20, 1911, aged 60 years, three months and 29 days. He grew to manhood in the southern part of the State, and on September 29, 1875, was united in marriage to Florence Curless, who, with him, shared the experience of the cares of life for nearly 36 years. To this union twelve children were born, three of whom have preceded him to the glory world. There are left to morn six sons, three daughters, a loving wife, twelve grandchildren, three brothers, one sister and a host of friends.
In 1886, the deceased was converted under the pastorate of Brother Vaughn, at Redline, O., but like many others, he became discouraged and neglected his duty and became indifferent in his church relations. In 1887 he moved to Mercer county, locating in Black Creek township. Later he spent one year in Indiana and then returned and resided here up to the time of death. Those with whom he became acquainted he learned to love and serve with gratitude and respect, and was always held in high esteem by his neighbors and friends, and by the church, notwithstanding his lukewarmness. The Lord appeared to him graciously at times and Brother Binkley was always ready to confess his wrongs, to renew his covenant with his Master. He was identified with the church at Centinary several years ago at Fountain Chapel, and still later at Bethel. He was a power for good in the church, ever ready to confess his Lord in the spirit of meekness. He will be missed in the home, in the church and in the community; but in the spirit of the Master we submit to this dispensation of His providence, knowing He doeth all things well.
The funeral service was conducted Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at the East Bethel U.B. church, by Rev. H. Kohn. Interment in the cemetery
nearby.
