KILLED BY A FALLING TREE - Jesse Boger, Young Farmer, Meets Death North of Harlan.
TREE TAKES AN UNEXPECTED TURN - Was Caught Beneath It and Survived Injuries But a Few Minutes.
Jesse Boger, a young farmer four miles north of Harlan, this county, was crushed to death by a falling tree while engaged in felling timber in the woods near his home at 10 o'clock Wednesday Morning. Boger was about 22 years of age and married.
Accompanied by his uncle, Al Boger, the young man went into the woods upon the farm of the elder man to cut a number of trees and had been at work some hours before the accident occurred. The tree which crushed out the young man's life was a large one, and as it started to fall he attempted to step out of the way of it.
Instead, however, the tree took an entirely different angle from that in which it was expected to fall, and Boger was caught beneath it before he could get to a place of safety. The tree carried him to the earth, catching him across the forehead and fracturing the skull. The elder man as quickly as possible, dug the imprisoned man from beneath the tree. He was still breathing, but unable to speak and expired a few minutes later.
Coroner Kesler was summoned in the case at once and left a little later for the scene to conduct an inquiry into the accident.
