Services for Forrest Zachary, who died Wednesday at the Carmen Nursing Home will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. Mr. Zachary, 74, maintained a residence at 603 E. Elmore St, but had been a patient at the home since July. The deceased had retired from the R.M. Horner auto sales firm in 1961 after 19 years service. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Born in Crawfordsville on July 23, 1894 he was the son of George and Mary Elliott Zachary. He was married on March 15, 1914 to Sally McClaren who survives. The marriage was solemnized in Raner, Ala. Survivors besides the wife are 3 sons, James and Lloyd of Crawfordsville and Clyde of Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Donald Stout of Waynetown and Mrs. Curtis Stoner of Crawfordsville; a brother, Virgil Z of Benton harbor Mich; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Lane; Marie Kublic and Doris Morrison all of Benton Harbor 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Rev. Howard Miller will officiate at the services and friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery south of Crawfordsville.
Note from Andy Zachary 8-7-2013 - Obituary copied from 26 December 1968 Crawfordsville J-R, pg. 31, col. 2. A correction by the newspaper ran on 28 December 1968 J-R. Address was 1603 Elmore St, vice 603. Also, 2nd daughter’s name was Mrs. Esther Storer, not Stoner.
