Yount - Florence Swearingen

Florence B. YOUNT, 93, one of the county’s oldest residents died at Culver Hospital Friday morning, June 12, 1959. She had been a patient there since June 5, her 93rd birthday. Death was due to heart disease and infirmities of age. Mrs. Yount had been a resident of New Market for 60 years and was widely known. She was born near Yountsville, June 5, 1886, (sic – should be 1868) daughter of Francis and Henrietta Gilkey SWEARINGEN. She was married Oct 5, 1891 to Walter Yount at Yountsville. For more than 50 years, Mrs. Yount had been a member of the New Market Methodist Church. The survivors include 3 sons Ernest of New Market; Harry of Darlington and Russell of St. Joseph, Michigan; a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Boecker of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren 16 greats; two brothers, Hugh Swearingen of New Market and Harry Yount (sic) of Columbus, Ohio and a sister, Miss Mary Swearingen. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, a grandson and granddaughter. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Noble Reeves Funeral Home, New Market with Rev. Phillip Badger in charge. Burial in Masonic Cemetery, Crawfordsville.- kbz
